- Last year August month i bought Ola S1 Pro and i almost completed 6500 kms with it.
I visited Ather showroom Erode and requested for a test ride of Ather 450x and showroom persons behaved in a friendly manner and provided me a scooter for comparison video with Ola.
A big thanks to Ather Erode.
In this video i covered the basic comparison between Ola and Ather and conveyed my thoughts based on my Ola and Ather ride experience.
Hope this video would be useful for many who are in confusion to choose the correct E Scooter.
As of now only premium scooters selling fast in market are Ola and Ather.

Proud to be an ather owner.... Ather quality is more better than ola...ather speed is true like as GPS...in ola speed is differ from 15kmph speed with GPS...ather display shows expected range at 100% soc ride 85,sport 75 and,warp mode 65...but practically it gives true range like ride 105 sport 100 and warp 80....in my 8k rid experience ather has good quality and premium product like as i phone...if any one buy an ev ask suggestions from ather users after decide it...
Even ather has speed difference brother, 90 kmph on display means actual 80kmph, reference Bike Dheko. I agree ather has good build quality, still Ola has better range making Ola a leading seller.

No ev will tell the real range if u drive fast. In Ola all range were according to 40-50 kmph.

What would be the power consumption measure/cost For a single charge from 0-100 for both scooters?
For Ather it's 3.7kwh battery, so power consumption would be 3.7 - 4 units per charge.
Ola is using 4kwh battery, so consumption would be 4.5 units per charge

@@DnA_things Ather only has 3.24kwh usable capacity from their 3.7kwh battery (12% unusable buffer - Official info from Ather's website). This is to slow the battery degradation. So when your Ather shows 100% charge, the actual charge level is only 94%. When your battery shows 0%, it will still have 6% left.
There is no information about OLA's usable capacity. I guess OLA uses its whole battery (4kwh - 23% more than Ather's usable capacity) since it gives around 25% more range compared to Ather. This means OLA's battery will degrade faster if you charge it to 100% often.
Based on these data, Ather will consume 3.5 - 3.7 units to charge it from 0-100. Ola Will consume 4.2 - 4.5 for 0-100.

Bro, unga daily usage 40 than solreenga, so for sure Ather vangunga, both scooters use lithium ion battery. As range & price is not an issue for you, go for Ather bro. Ather also have good charging network.

As you said build quality is better on ather and even the switch controls is easy to access whereas ola quality is not that great and while driving itself felt as if it is fully made of plastic. Cost and range wise ola is beter adhan confused which one to sacrifice quality or range

RESALE VALUE AFTER 5 YEARS = ~15000
AND FINALLY FOR EV >> 218000-15000 = 203000
Important note:
# If we take petrol vehicle for a ride with full tank, at least we can ride for 250 kms and again it could be refiled and use for another 250 kms so petrol filling time is 5 mins, if any machine issues it could be rectified easily by a macanic.
# ev vehicle full charger 120- 150 kms range max again to get it fully charged it will take another 5 hours, if any technical or machine issues, what to do? Still, there are no proper infra or technicians for ev vehicles 🎉.

Let's consider Jupiter as an example.
My friend recently bought a Jupiter 125cc and its Onroad price is 116000.
If he covers 75k kms in 3 years, he would be spending at least 1.5 lakhs on petrol. 30k on service. Overall 3 lakhs for 3 years - for non EMI version, if it's under EMI, pls add 20k for interest as petrol vehicle interest rates are 13-14%, 3.2 lakhs in total)
Mainly for those who ride less than 25kms a day, ev is not a better choice. It will fall into the criteria which you have compared.
Basically if a person rides 1500 - 2000 kms a month, an electric scooter would be profitable.
If one opts electric scooter under EMI, then that's the best option i would say, nowadays people are getting ev loans for 8-9%, on completing installments, they would be paying 20000 as interest. That interest is tax exempted. So effective interest would be like 15k something.
If one rides 1500kms a month, he has to pay 3500 for petrol which can be used to pay installments, from pocket he/she needs to put 3.5k a month, 3.5k petrol price (7k a month for 24 months).
So the amount paid by ev users would be 1.65 lakhs + 15k for tyre change + 10k for miscellaneous services and 25k as current bill considering higher rates. 2.15 lakhs in total.
Many EV's are coming with battery warranty of 3 years for unlimited kms.
A person riding 24k kms a year would cover at least 75k kms within 3 years, covering the cost of the entire scooter. After 5 years, even if the battery dies, instead of changing the battery and selling it, we can directly scrap it for 5-10k.
Regarding service and long distance coverage, if people opts for ev's , then only respective infra structure will develop. Consider if people didn't buy petrol scooters or cars, will there be these many petrol bunks? So in future we can expect multiple charging stations. Electric scooters are meant for 75-100 kms ride a day and not suitable for long rides, EV's should not be a primary vehicle if someone travels a lot frequently. Rare cases we can rent a bike or get it from our friends.
Same way like charging stations, service centres also increase day by day.

Forced regen ather la iruku, ounga review panunga
Sorry bro, my mistake, no one in Ather showroom explained me about forced regen. Also applying forced regen is not easy in Ather. Too much effort is needed to reverse the throttle itseems, i tried twisting the throttle to reverse, it didn't turned and i assumed it doesn't have forced regen.
In Ola it's easy to reverse the throttle to apply forced regen

Bro, fire issue 2.27 lakh scooter la 2 scooters than, latest one is due to some misuse of vehicle.
Ola S1 3kwh would be better choice for you. Budget ungaluku problem Ilana Ather vangalam bro, but ather la range kammi, 1.45 lakhs ku neenga Ola S1 pro vae vangirlaam, one charge ku 125+ kms for sure kidaikum.

Ather ah pathi yarukume therla. All are falling for Ola's trap. There are many drawbacks in Ola.
1. Ather has a cooling fan. Ola does not have cooling fan. Ola Bike will switch off automatically due to overheating. It will only turn on after cooling for 10-15 minutes.
2. The kilometer readings mentioned in Ola is incorrect. Both top speed and range are very inaccurate. Check the real review.
3. Ather's battery is 3.7 KWH and Ola's is 3.97 KWH. How can you get 50-60 KM more range with 0.27 KWH. They are cheating.
4. Ather is real engineering company as IIT engineers have built the product from scratch. Ola is copy paste company. They bought Etergo from Netherlands and pasting it all over India by an IIM student. It is simply marketing strategy.
5. Ola parts are made of less quality. Ather is durable.
6. Ola is simply hog-washing every one with less price and low quality. If you want performance and quality better choose Ather.
Drawbacks of Ather:
1. Boot space is less
2. The drive train (belt) is not covered properly. Dirt will get into belt.
Finally.
Ather is iPhone and Ola is Samsung.
Prowd owner of Ather 450X.
Quality wise ather is good, agreed, but range wise ola is the king, check the range test video which I did with my Ola S1 Pro.
I covered 125 kms in a charge with 23 kms remaining which includes 11 kms uphill.
I did this test twice in same path.
If possible do a similar test with your ather and let me know bro whether ola gives more range or ather gives more range. We will decide based on that.

Speed is inaccurate in both the scooters, try the google map speed with actual speed of scooter. For sure you will have 7-8 kms difference.
If ola gets heated, it will switch to normal mode first and then to ECO mode, all of a sudden it won't turn off. So need to stand in Middle of the road. On seeing the notifications you can slow down the scooter for few kms and again it will recover to different modes.

If you ride at a speed of 75kmph in sports without pillion, you will get range of 95-100

You are right, the reason for that noise is exposed belt drive in Ather whereas in Gen 1 Ola S1 Pro, it's covered, but in Gen 2 Ola S1 Pro, they have an open belt drive system which may produce more noise than Gen 1 Ola. you can checkout shorts in channel content

Nowadays scooters are delivered within 15-20 days Max bro, if it's exceeding that, pls reach out to customer care . Also you can check the status over app and ask CC if it stuck at some status for long time

Ola is best because of a new revolutionary front and back suspension which indicates a fresh design compared to old fashioned suspension systems. Next is it's a sturdy vehicle which gives a planted riding feel irrespective of your riding mode. And at last not the least it gives 170 km in eco mode and 135 km in normal which minimise charging frequently. I find normal is more than sufficient for city rides and other modes may be used when you are energetic or wish to have funride. It's no wonder that this iterhard scooter got best design award. I like it's fluid design which makes cleaning easier and doesn't cause harm or injury to our hands. The other 2 wheelets may look sportier but it draws more dirt and cleaning becomes difficult. The only thing that ola should take care about is that it should offer more friendly and swift service so that it can become unbeatable in the electric two wheeler sector. I hope ola will do it

@@karthigunasekaran3298 yes. Stereo type People. Won't accept new ideas. Ola bowed to these stereotypes and decided to go old fashioned way . I have tvs ntorq since 2018. I find ola s1 pro more comfy and enjoy it's smooth ride. Ola s1 pro More stable at 100 kmph and above and don't have such confidence with ntorq which has front fork set and rear dual shock absorber.

Which is best one for long term use?
We cannot expect a longer life span for electric vehicles . Max 5-6 years an electric scooter can survive without major range drops. After that you would see drastic range drop and comparatively Ather and Iqube are well built and if you just need quality and range is not an issue go for it.
If your selection criteria is range, you can choose Ola and after 4-5 years you can swap the scooter to a new one as you might have taken back the entire scooter amount within 5 years.

He has not covered anything about motor rating and battery capacity, last but not least price. Price should be compared on per km range basis ( on kWh basis). In my opinion ola appears to be better though ather looks stylish. Moreover ola has the capability to fine tune the technology and provide more software updated with new features. Ola is going to introduce ADAS shortly, which is available only in cars.
Hi bro - I clearly mentioned it as a basic comparison, not technical one.
Pls don't expect ADAS in existing Ola scooters as they are not equipped with techs needed for ADAS feature. they are planning to implement it on their upcoming models- i would expect it in Ola car.
