What a wise, incredible man Dwight D. Isenhower was to foresee the possibility that some people would deny the reality of the Holocaust. This is why he had soldiers and photographers take pictures of the horrid scenes of Nazi brutality in those concentration camps. This would remove any excuse to deny the reality of those crimes against humanity, which they were. Hats off to then Gen. Isenhower
Thank you Sir Eisenhower, for bringing these atrocities to the world's knowledge and making sure this was exposed to the wide world, so it could not be forgotten. Much respect to you in heaven! Humanity owes you so much!!
This was so powerful. Thank you. And I learned something about Nazi leaders and citizens being forced to look at the carnage and to respectfully bury dead concentration victims. I am so grateful for Eisenhower's vision.
Bless you all for continuing to educate and inform all generations regarding the memories and experiences of those whom endured the horrors of the Holocaust. It is more important than ever before, as you so rightly noted in your introduction.
It was a rare privilege to experience this online interview with Susan Eisenhower. Thanks to all involved with this production. Her knowledge and rationality are truly impressive. @ about 25:38 she says "What turns civilized people into maniacs ?" She then admits not being able to find another word for that. I have that word for her. It's *monsters.* What we call civilization can be and often is seen as monstrous by those from other cultures. An example ??? There are many such examples in history. Fer instance US genocide against indigenous populations of those commonly called " Indians" or redskins. Whites often saw them as savages if not outright monsters. But i digress. I came to these shores in 1956 as a 7 yr. old boy ( as a legal immigrant during Ike's presidency ) with my family from war-torn Europe. Thank you to all who have made me feel welcome.
Instead of monsters I say only Demons and Demonic spirits could do such things, which makes sense because a lot of Nazis were heavily into the Occult conjuring up "Familiar Spirits" which are demons.
I Remember my father telling me of being with a military as they captured some of the camps in western Germany. When I was very young he spoke to me about what he saw and how profound the effect traveling to this camp was on him. What he saw were starving people who were so mistreated, it made his sick just retelling me about what he saw. The one point my father made to me was he relayed the orders to come down for as many military to visit these sites. In fact as a ten year old child he made a strong point about these orders being given to all troops to visit these camps. Because he spoke many languages he interrogated German soldiers to find SS who tried to hide among ordinary German troops. Sadly he died young and I only spoke with him only a few times about these events.
Yes our father told us and we just listened never asking questions because we knew how he suffered all of his life from everything during WWII definitely" The Greatest Generation" and his first cousin also a soilder in WWII was never found his wife and children never knew what happened to him and my father lived to age 90 died in 2014 with well over 2000 people attended his funeral definitely one of the most humble and toughest man that many of us ever knew 💕 thanks for sharing most important is to NEVER FORGET and teach everything about WWII to the children in the future it's really hard to believe that after all of that we are here in the USA with US soilders on the ground waiting to see what will happen with Russia. Sending my love to everybody everywhere ❤️☮️
It weighed heavily on my fathers mind too. He once showed me a picture of Adolph Eichman in the encyclopedia and I said he looked like the devil. This present generation pales in comparison to the Greatest Generation. 🇺🇸
A Jewish American soldier saved the life of a friend of mine after the liberation of Auschwitz with one simple sentence. As the survivors were lining up for the first time to take food being provided by American soldiers, one soldier told my friend in Yiddish not to eat too much all at once. I am not sure if the soldier gave reasons but I doubt it as I can imagine he was busy maintaining order in the lines of starving survivors waiting to pounce on the food being offered. My friend didn't apparently ask too many questions as to why and ate only a small portion....as a prisoner he had existed on one slice of bread and thin soup a day for some years. Over a period, hundreds perhaps thousands of survivors who were either not told or didn't heed the warning overate and died....their systems were unable to handle the excess food.
Thank you for your informative video. It is sad, however, that Eisenhower predicted correctly that the day would come when the horrors of the Holocaust would be denied. Unfortunately, as we move further away in time, the deniers seem to multiply.
Allen, I believe that Eisenhower did predict that some people would deny that the Holocaust happened. Why else would he have photographers and Allied soldiers take pictures and film footages of those barbarous acts?
Thank you for this excellent interview and for so much excellent historical work by both the USHMM and the Eisenhower family, led in our new millennium by the President's granddaughter Susan Eisenhower.
Nobody could dream up something so horrible, let alone have photo, video and documentation evidence. Eisenhower had the foresight because it would be far more easy for denying this atrocity due to the scope of the unthinkable in normal human behavior.
First time I read and got acquianted with Ike's involvement in and achivements at WW2 admiration overpowered me. So much so that I named my kid after him.
This was an excellent show and so nice to have Susan Eisenhower there. I suspect the painting on the wall behind her might be one of her grandfather's?
The german prisioneros of war in america in louisiana were treated so well .But they were in shock when the movie they thought they would see turn out to be the nazi concentration camps . This made an impression on them.
In the last weeks of the Second World War in Europe, US troops liberated not only concentration and extermination camps but also prisoner of war camps. In some of these Soviet soldiers had miraculously survived. Given that he had been instructed by his government to repatriate any found to the USSR, did Eisenhower know how the Soviet Union treated returning captured troops? If so, how did Eisenhower deal with the consequences of what he had been ordered to do?
I was well informed about Gen. Eisenhower's 1945 Ohrdruf concentration camp declaration for many decades. As an avid student of history since childhood , I've come across photos of both Eisenhower and Patton eye witnessing the Nazi concentration camp scenarios. Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day (2023). I'll be watching CAST A GIANT SHADOW (1966) later in a show of respect for the 6 million Nazi victims. NEVER AGAIN !!!!! I'm proud of my historical knowledge and my full 110% support to all the victims of Nazi oppression. SHALOM !!!!
Certain military officers in command failed in abhorrent ways to see prosecution carried out against some of the most evil SS officers by letting them off the hook in backroom deals. This is shameful.
Eisenhower... Cometh the hour......Cometh the man. Where would we be today without this man. Thanks be to God for this mans life. An excellent interview btw.
The UK does not have a national Holocaust museum or memorial. This disgusts me. Right now we have had the opportunity to have one near The Houses of Parliament, but, there are so many against the idea that it will probably never happen! The reason given is that it may provoke hate. Or words to that effect. Personally I see it more along the grounds of the endemic antisemitism that we have in the UK today, led by the left and far left. We have to have something that people can go and see or the deniers will win. We also had a concentration camp on British territory on the island of Alderney. When I visited with Colonel Richard Kemp 4 years ago one could feel death and fear. But the UK wants to hide it all. We must have places where the people can learn from the past and hold people and regimes to account. NEVER AGAIN!
What is Susan Eisenhower’s thoughts regarding the potential for this happening again by our current situation? I feel like it is highly likely to happen again in the not so distant future. Especially that our 2nd Amendment rights are being threatened. Loved Ike! I remember his election. D-Day was on my fathers 52nd birthday...he served in WWI. I was born in 1944, so this has an impact on my thoughts, emotions and feelings.
Genocide or "ethnic cleansing", whichever term you want to use, is happening currently to the: Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Uighur Muslims in China, Darfuris in Sudan, Neur and other ethnic groups in South Sudan, among others most likely. There are severe risks for mass-atrocities in the Cameroon and of Christians and Muslims in the Central African Republic as well. Genocide may not currently be happening in the USA as of now but it has been happening around the world throughout different countries during recent years. We need to keep our eyes open and speak out about injustices as to not let them escalate and repeat the history many people have said "never again" to.
Your rights are not being threatened. You are still allowed to have a killing machine, but do you think you won't be outnumbered in a mass genocide? You would most likely be the first annialated, and probably trade your useless machine for food.
Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower one of the most important man that ever lived 💕 so thank you!! It takes a good-hearted, justice loving man like you with extreme gifts of prophecy to think to yourself, "Someday somebody might, for some bizarre reason, deny reality and so I should take a lot of photos." Thank you Dwight.

Ms. Eisenhower, you are absolutely right. We have a failure of leadership. And it has persisted as a slowly progressive cancer for decades.
