What a wise, incredible man Dwight D. Isenhower was to foresee the possibility that some people would deny the reality of the Holocaust. This is why he had soldiers and photographers take pictures of the horrid scenes of Nazi brutality in those concentration camps. This would remove any excuse to deny the reality of those crimes against humanity, which they were. Hats off to then Gen. Isenhower

It was a rare privilege to experience this online interview with Susan Eisenhower. Thanks to all involved with this production. Her knowledge and rationality are truly impressive. @ about 25:38 she says "What turns civilized people into maniacs ?" She then admits not being able to find another word for that. I have that word for her. It's *monsters.* What we call civilization can be and often is seen as monstrous by those from other cultures. An example ??? There are many such examples in history. Fer instance US genocide against indigenous populations of those commonly called " Indians" or redskins. Whites often saw them as savages if not outright monsters. But i digress. I came to these shores in 1956 as a 7 yr. old boy ( as a legal immigrant during Ike's presidency ) with my family from war-torn Europe. Thank you to all who have made me feel welcome.

I Remember my father telling me of being with a military as they captured some of the camps in western Germany. When I was very young he spoke to me about what he saw and how profound the effect traveling to this camp was on him. What he saw were starving people who were so mistreated, it made his sick just retelling me about what he saw. The one point my father made to me was he relayed the orders to come down for as many military to visit these sites. In fact as a ten year old child he made a strong point about these orders being given to all troops to visit these camps.
Because he spoke many languages he interrogated German soldiers to find SS who tried to hide among ordinary German troops. Sadly he died young and I only spoke with him only a few times about these events.

A Jewish American soldier saved the life of a friend of mine after the liberation of Auschwitz with one simple sentence.
As the survivors were lining up for the first time to take food being provided by American soldiers, one soldier told my friend in Yiddish not to eat too much all at once.
I am not sure if the soldier gave reasons but I doubt it as I can imagine he was busy maintaining order in the lines of starving survivors waiting to pounce on the food being offered.
My friend didn't apparently ask too many questions as to why and ate only a small portion....as a prisoner he had existed on one slice of bread and thin soup a day for some years.
Over a period, hundreds perhaps thousands of survivors who were either not told or didn't heed the warning overate and died....their systems were unable to handle the excess food.

In the last weeks of the Second World War in Europe, US troops liberated not only concentration and extermination camps but also prisoner of war camps. In some of these Soviet soldiers had miraculously survived.
Given that he had been instructed by his government to repatriate any found to the USSR, did Eisenhower know how the Soviet Union treated returning captured troops? If so, how did Eisenhower deal with the consequences of what he had been ordered to do?

The UK does not have a national Holocaust museum or memorial. This disgusts me. Right now we have had the opportunity to have one near The Houses of Parliament, but, there are so many against the idea that it will probably never happen! The reason given is that it may provoke hate. Or words to that effect. Personally I see it more along the grounds of the endemic antisemitism that we have in the UK today, led by the left and far left. We have to have something that people can go and see or the deniers will win. We also had a concentration camp on British territory on the island of Alderney. When I visited with Colonel Richard Kemp 4 years ago one could feel death and fear. But the UK wants to hide it all. We must have places where the people can learn from the past and hold people and regimes to account. NEVER AGAIN!

Genocide or "ethnic cleansing", whichever term you want to use, is happening currently to the: Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Uighur Muslims in China, Darfuris in Sudan, Neur and other ethnic groups in South Sudan, among others most likely. There are severe risks for mass-atrocities in the Cameroon and of Christians and Muslims in the Central African Republic as well. Genocide may not currently be happening in the USA as of now but it has been happening around the world throughout different countries during recent years. We need to keep our eyes open and speak out about injustices as to not let them escalate and repeat the history many people have said "never again" to.
