Hi ladies greeting from South of Ireland great info great video we also use a teat sealer after the antibiotic chube for an extra barrier lovely cows happy farming 👍
at 7 th month of pregnancy cows are dried off for 2 months to allow udder alveoli & mammary glands to develop under the influence of Progesterone & estrogen # antibiotics insertion in teat canal prevents mastitis # 👍❤️🇵🇰
Drying cows off- isn't your milk supplier/welfare scheme pushing you to use selective dry cow treatment, ie, low SCC cows, say 200, just a teat sealant, cows with 200 or over antibiotics plus optional sealant- I know it varies etc. Just curious to know girls?
@@Sistersinwellies cheers for that. I was in cows 34 yrs, managing/ working on various herds over Gloucestershire, Nantwich, Suffolk, norfolk had to step back due to I'll health- hip n knee issues, in 2016 and arla were starting to advocate selective dct then.

It is a discussion at the moment but it’s not something we’re being pushed to do at this moment. We hope to work towards it in the near future 😊
