- An animation comparing Lando and Oscar's fastest laps during qualifying! Thought I'd try a different way of presenting the video this time as it is sometimes hard to see the minute differences in real time. Please let me know what you think about this format!
Please note that due to the frequency of the data, the speed values should only be considered a reference.

Oscar is genuinely such an impressive driver. I honestly didn't expect him to be as near as Lando as he is. What a drive from him. Shame for not getting a podium but hopefully mclaren can keep this pace up

interesting, after looking at both this and the verstappen v. norris video, it seems like piastri goes at corners in a very similar way to verstappen. it makes me wanna see a comparison of oscar and max

Lando had different settings on the car to have more straight line speed.

Think I heard Oscar mention lando still had 1 or 2 more lil bits on the car that he hasn’t gotten yet very impressive from both and mclaren though!

These animations/analyses are wicked. Wish the actual F1 broadcasters made more use of them - F1TV should contract the people that are doing them. Imagine a software engine where fans could select the cars/drivers they want to compare. Even between different years. Compare last year's pole with this years, or Max last year with Max this year.
To be fair, Lando already had the new front wing slapped on his car. Someone at McLaren stated that the front wing made around 1 to 2 tenths of a difference from their analysis.
So yeah, Lando and Oscar are killing it :)

Would it be possible to have all drivers at once in this visualization? I know it would be a mess for the eyes, but also kinda interesting to see how everyone was doing.

The wing did not give 1-2 tenths the wing mainly was for reliability under breaking to bring more consistency in how the aerodynamics flow under breaking which in turn would reduce tire wear. This was proven in the race but would not have gained him any advantage in qualifying.
This would help with race pace but not quali pace
lets not forget that Lando had more upgrades on the car, and Oscar will have them in Hungary
Piastri has a very similar driving style to Daniel which is interesting. Seems to have confidence in the car anyway
Seems like Oscar's driving style is similar to Verstappen's. He has short corners and sacrifices corner entry to gain exit speed which is what Max does as well

Probably because there's an explanation of what's happening in this video, rather than just a lap comparison.
Maybe Oscar being new to F1 is still not able to completely get over the extremely hard breaks of the car.. he is still developing physically to overcome that.. whilst Lando is in his 5th year.. so able to extract more under breaking every time.. plz don't take this comment too seriously, I'm just making assumptions..
Seems to me like lando is using more kerbs. Particularly into village and the loop as well as vale
