    I was quoted $800 for 5100 and install. I figured I'd take the risk of getting caught doing mechanical work at my RV park for that price. I found some like new returned 5100s on Amazom for $60 a pop and used the $500 I saved to buy me a new gun!

    Not that it makes a huge difference, but Bilstein recommends you install the boot in a downward position.

    So I noticed that you put the 5100s on your truck and it looks like it's at stock ride height. If you read the description on the 5100 there for lifted Trucks 1.5 to 2 inches. The 4600s are for stock height. Is there a reason why you put the 5100s on instead of the 4600s?

    • @tompkinsfarms
      @tompkinsfarms  2 года назад

      Your are not the first one to ask this question, my truck is a 3500 which has a higher ride height then the more common 1500. That is the only reason why I think people keep asking this question because when I match this part to my truck it’s a direct fit part.

    • @jdbwake
      @jdbwake 2 года назад

      I have a 2016 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 diesel it calls for the 4600. I don’t really see why you couldn’t put the 5100’s on only downside would be 1.5 inches less shock travel

    • @randytemple1044
      @randytemple1044 2 года назад +1

      I have a 2015.5 2500hd. It calls for a direct fit for the 4600 and the 5100 shocks. My original question comes from what is said in the small print under the 5100s. Which says direct fit for trucks and suvs that are lifted. I'm sure you could use both shocks on your truck. My original question was why did you choose the 5100s over the 4600. Because when I use a 2013 3500 it comes up with the 4600s to replace the oem shocks. The 2500 and 3500 are pretty much the same ride height.

  • @chris.f4635

    Is your truck stock? Every tire shop I go they say 5100 are only for 4”-6” trucks and won’t order them for my Chevy 2500 Z71 4x4. Do they make some for stock heights according to them they don’t

      @@tompkinsfarms yea I’ve seen others put 5100 on stock or leveled trucks but according to the tires shops they say it’s not for stock trucks. Mine is a 2500 6.0 gas but don’t think it matters.

    I mean no disrespect but you aren’t supposed to loosen bolts with a torque wrench and in order to get proper torque when tightening you are supposed to tighten the nut not the bolt. Other than that good vid. Comment back and let me know how ya like the ride of these shocks
