The most comprehensive review/demo video on this awning I've seen so far. Definitely a contender for when we get our new motorhome next year. After 20 years caravanning with full isabella awnings (which are really easy to put up) I wanted a driveaway awning that literally went up in minutes. This fits the bill and doesn't look like a bag of crisps hanging off the awning rail like the sunncamp or Kampa.
Hi 👋🏼 Thank you so much for your comment! We are glad that you found the video to be comprehensive as this was definitely our intention. We think it’s a great awning and we love the extra space it gives us. It can be a little tricky to get in the right place because of the shape of it, but we find it easy to adjust it until we get it right. How exciting! We really hope you enjoy your new motorhome when you get it next year!
Aww thanks so much for the support! The fast pumping up did look funny didn’t it!😂 Yes the boys have to stay in the back of the van while we put up the awning, as their idea of helping is trampling all over everything! 🤣🤣
Hi👋🏼 Yes the awning is designed to be free standing so that you can drive away in your van and leave the awning in situ. Weirdly though, some campsites have rules stating that drive away awnings must stay connected to your van at all times. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s worth double checking when you book campsites that they don’t have a rule like this. If they don’t, you should be ok to leave the awning disconnected from the van👍🏻
@@jessicatruman8105 Ooh exciting! Bet you can’t wait for it to arrive. Good call on the electric pump. As you can see from the video, we don’t have an electric pump and I must admit it is quite a workout getting it inflated! 😂
Morning and thanks for video! 👍 I’ve just bought the Pro version (very similar) and was wondering, could you extend the Vans fixed awning fully out, then attache the drive away kador strip and peg down sides, thus giving you a 2m covered area between van and awning? Thanks again.. 👍
Hi 👋🏼 :) Yes, you could do that as most wind out awnings do have an awning rail, but how advisable it would be to attach an awning to the extremity of your wind out awning while it’s wound out, we’re not too sure. It’s not something we’ve ever tried to be honest. Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks for reply.. And yes, think it would have to be under the calmest of weather circumstances if wind-out awning was as at full stretch.. Thanks again..
Hi!👋🏼 Thank you for comment 😊 We’re glad you enjoyed the video. We haven’t been caught in a storm yet thankfully, so can’t comment on how it would hold up. It has experienced some fairly strong winds and seemed to hold up fine with those though 😊
Glad you found the video informative😊 Our back seat moves forwards and backwards on rails in the floor. It means we can either push the seat all the way back and have the dogs in the middle part of the van (Sabre likes to be on the back seat and Dallas likes to be on his bed on the floor) or we can push the seat right up to the awning, which creates a large boot space for the dogs in the back. Either way they always wear their harnesses and they are always safely secured from the isofix points in the seat 👍🏻
Hi 👋🏼 Yes we are still very happy with our drive away awning. We have to be honest, we don’t use it every time we go away, but we do like to use it for longer trips. It is a little tricky to peg out at first because of its unusual shape, but we’re used to it now and we love the space the hexagonal shape gives us. We haven’t experienced any problems with punctured tubes. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi - Really useful. I have just come back from putting mine up for the first time. Not easy - especially by myself. Think next time will pump it up first then clip to the Fiamma. Clipping the ground sheet in was very hard - hardly any room so wondered if there is a knack? Also, do you find you need to keep topping the air up every now and then (per day?)? I think I see you have an air vent on the edge when rolling up so you can get rid of air still in it - that right? I found it all very difficult first time so hopefully thing swill improve. Great awning when up though. Thanks for the vid.
Hi, hope you had a lovely time. I can imagine it is quite tricky done on your own, I'm sure with some practice you will get the hang of it though. We do find clipping the ground sheet in difficult as you have mentioned - the best way I've found is to slightly lift the air pole with one hand and then clip the ground sheet in with your other hand. We've not found we've have had to add any air after pumping it up, we usually pump up to the middle of the green pressure section - longest its been up is about a week for us. Absolutely, the best way to roll up and get in the bag is to have one of the air vent/pump up point at one end so the air is squeezed out as you roll up. Thanks for the comments and we hope you enjoy many more trips with your awning.
Good job guys 👍 Me and the Mrs just put ours up first time … didn’t went that smooth 😋 Attached instruction wasn’t much help either 👎 Next time we know the drill !! Reg / June&Peter@Sweden
Hi! 👋🏼 Sorry to hear your first go at putting it up wasn’t very smooth. I’m sure you’ll get there. We have to admit that we did put it up a couple of times before the routine was finalised 😂 It’s not the easiest shape to deal with, but it’s brilliant once it’s up. We hope our video can be of help to you. Thank you so much for commenting 😊
Hi 👋🏼 😊 Hmm not too sure if that would work🤔 It’s made for vans so it might be a bit too high to attach to a car, and the car wouldn’t have an awning rail to feed it through. There’s a possibility you could throw the straps over the car and attach it that way maybe?🤔 No idea if that would work though to be honest. It could be used next to the car though as it doesn’t necessarily need to be attached. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi 👋🏼 Glad you found the video informative. We don’t believe that Vango awnings are produced in the UK. When we spoke to the Vango reps at the NEC show before we purchased ours, they were saying they were expecting stock which was being shipped over to the UK. We don’t know where this stock was coming from though. Thanks for watching 😊
We haven’t had any problems with the awning due to rain. Can’t say we’ve used it in a proper storm though. We don’t always take this awning with us, so we’ve probably only used it about half a dozen times. We tend to just use our wind out awning for weekends.
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Awesome that you have a California, great bit of kit! The accessories we have are the CP101 carpet as you have mentioned, the footprint for the hexaway we have I believe is code GP004. With regards to the drive away kit, ours is a 6mm - 6mm version. The awning has a 6mm kador strip but you will need to check if your awning rail needs a 4mm or a 6mm kador strip. If its a 4mm version you will need a 6mm - 4mm version. Hope this helps.
@@djjarekjarek8082 we actually have a Dometic awning. However, we connect the awning to the separate awning rail which is on the van - its just underneath the wind out awning.
I think this is the only video I’ve watched so far that actually covers and answers all my questions. Thanks guys!!
Glad you found the video useful 🙂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Where do you put the lovely dogs
