Van Vibes & Sibes
Великобритания
Добавлен 2 янв 2022
Welcome to Van Vibes & Sibes. We are Rich & Lou, a couple from Leicestershire UK who love to explore in our VW T6.1 campervan. With our two Huskies Dallas & Sabre, we share our campervan adventures and experiences. We review campsites, throw in the the odd kit video, and share any tips and tricks that we learn along the way.
As kids we both loved our family campervan & caravan holidays, so it seemed inevitable that we would end up getting our own van. It really is the best thing we’ve ever done!
We both work full time, so we just to try get away when we can. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we probably talk about food and beer too much, but we always try to have a good time whenever we’re out in the van.
If you enjoy this kind of content, don’t forgot to like and subscribe and hit that bell so that you don’t miss any future videos from us. If you have any questions or just want to say hi, feel free to leave us a comment. We do our best to reply to all of them.

Hey, did you ever get the upper mattress sorted? I can highly recommend the Sea2Summit self inflating mattress. I used a mini pump to top it up and deflate it. When deflated, I used rubber bungs in the valves and just left it in the roof. I got tired of the inflation/deflation hassle and moved to a more expensive memory foam mattress that you can also leave stowed, but my wife prefers the S2S.
Hi, great video. I'm starting my journey into spec'ing my first van. I also have two dogs and have a question for you: how do you secure them whilst travelling? Thanks, Michael
Hi Michael, glad you enjoyed the video. We secure the dogs by clipping leads to their harnesses and then we clip the other end of the leads to the isofix points in the back seat. We’ve actually done a video about travelling with dogs if you wanted to check it out :) Good luck finding your perfect van, exciting times :) I’ve put the link to our dog travel video below 👍🏻 ruclips.net/video/JEo5P9MV2gY/видео.htmlsi=1vd8sezmpvhAYCo1
Just watching your channel for first time. Great video. Bed comforts .. we have 2 , side by side, 20mm yoga mats (Amazon) with a 5cm memory foam topper in top of those. Works for us 👍
Welcome :) Thank you for sharing about your bad comforts. It’s good to hear what other people do 👍🏻 Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for the info. Get my T6.1 next week as a sole vehicle
We hope you enjoy you new van. Thanks for watching :)
We use the exped inflatable matras. Realy comfortable and when deflated it can stay upstairs when the poptop is down.
Thanks for sharing :) 👍🏻
We use Exped Megamat duo for tent camping and it’s as comfortable as a home mattress, they aren’t cheap but you can’t beat having a good night sleep and has very high R value although that’s probably not so important in a heated van. 40 mm of foam will never be comfortable. Purchase a Flextail pump and it can be inflated and deflated very quickly and as some else has mentioned deflated it might store up in the roof.
Awesome Van, I'd love something almost exactly like this. This configuration seems like something I could daily drive + go camping in on the odd weekends or stay in while traveling along the coast of Aus! Only things I'd like differently is a dedicated AC for the Aussie heat and to plumb a shower head on the tailgate door with a curtain! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, we love our van and all the places it allows us to explore :) We hope you get to own your perfect van one day. Thanks so much for watching 👍🏻
@@VanVibesandSibes If and when that happens your vehicle will be a primary source of inspiration! Safe Travels!
Lovely video. Great shots of the dogs 😊. The road would drive me nuts, although, we found it’s quieter with no pop top. Different for everyone though. We’ve been away with friends where road noise has bothered me and they didn’t even notice it ……… Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you :) The boys loved that off lead field! Yeah the road was pretty noisy. It’s definitely different for everyone. I bet it’s way better for you now without the pop top 👍🏻 The noise did wake us up a couple of times to be fair. It wouldn’t put us off going back though, it’s a lovely little site. Thanks for watching 🫶 :)
Thank you 😁 We are on the same journey now, we are saving up like mad, to get to our dream of owning our own vow camper. And your wife summed it up perfectly ( like mine did ) in saying if is glorified camping We tour on our motorbikes, and camp weekends away Owing a t6 would be the dream, where we will still tour, but tow our bikes and use them to explore once we have booked in on a site for a few days. Very interested in what you said about the bed , thanks Subbed and look forward to watching more of your videos 😁👍🏼
Thank you for watching! :) Sounds like you’ve got an amazing plan for getting your own van! Love the idea of towing the bikes and using those to go out exploring! Getting our van is honestly the best thing we’ve ever done. We hope your dream comes true really soon. Thank you so much for subscribing to the channel! We really appreciate it 👍🏻
Great video, and Rich you are right - jam before cream! We’re thinking of buying a VW Camper - do you have any regrets? Anything you don’t like?
Thank you :) Yep always jam first 👍🏻 We don’t really have any regrets. It’s honestly the best thing we’ve ever done. We actually did a video where we discussed how we felt about the van after a year of owning it. Feel free to check that video out :) The only thing we do sometimes wonder, is if we should have stretched ourselves to get a base van with an automatic gearbox, and if the light grey upholstery is the right thing to have with two dogs. Other than that we love everything about it :) Thanks for watching 👍🏻
really useful information and perspective, thank you
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video guys! Are you still using your panda mattress?
Thank you 😊Yes we are still using the Panda 👍🏻
Great video guys jam then cream 👌
Thanks for watching! Always jam then cream 👍🏻😂
We do the cream and jam the other way although it's all good with us as it tastes great which ever way it's done! Lovely video. Thanks for creating and sharing
@@jerrygale1994 Definitely! It all goes down the same way and tastes awesome either way. Some people get really upset if you do it a different way to them though don’t they 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks so much for watching 👍🏻
Don't know if you got your bed sorted but what you really need is a decent self inflating matrress not a cheap one like you git before. Get at least a 10cm one or for the ultimate comfort get a 15cm. We use a Vango 10cm Shangri-la and it's soooo comfy
Thanks for sharing. We ended up with a panda which has definitely improved the comfort in the pop top bed. Glad you’ve found something that works for you as well 👍🏻
Any problems with rain
We haven’t had any problems with the awning due to rain. Can’t say we’ve used it in a proper storm though. We don’t always take this awning with us, so we’ve probably only used it about half a dozen times. We tend to just use our wind out awning for weekends.
Don't regret the manual gearbox, the DSG is renowned as a reliability issue and very expensive to fix. Much easier to fix a manual box and clutch.
Good point👍🏻 Hadn’t really thought about it like that.
Hi Rich & Lou, how do you transport your babies? We have a Lab and a Cocker and I was thinking using the back shelf of a California might do. We are on a journey on getting ourselves a Camper van and we are hiring a California shortly for a weekend away to try it out. Also I’ve camped at the campsite and it’s a great location. Thanks for uploading and I’ve really enjoyed your vids.
Hi 👋🏼 Thanks for watching our videos 👍🏻 Our boys travel in the exact same places as where they sleep in the van. They travel in the main part of the van. Sabre lies on the back seat, and Dallas lies on his bed on the floor. They have leads clipped on to their harnesses to secure them and keep them safe. It’s a really good idea to hire a van to see how you get on 👍🏻 It means you can try out different things and make sure it works for you. We really enjoyed the Durdle Door campsite. It is a great location to explore Dorset. So nice to hear that you enjoy our videos! We wish you lots of luck in your search for your own campervan.
don't know how to get emails on this too
hi both we went to duped out too really good time how to u get to know were they all are and are you going next year if so we could meet up if that's possible as we are new to this Kev and cath
It’s a great festival isn’t it! I think if you are on the Dubbed out community Facebook group you will see when they announce their camp outs and the festival on there. Alternatively, I think if you go to the website, you can sign up to their mailing list so that you get notified about all their events. We really enjoyed it this year so we probably go again next year 👍🏻 Thanks for watching :)
@@VanVibesandSibes thanks both yes we really enjoyed just need to have some friends to come along think it would be much better when there are a few of you thanks both
Hi Guys another great video. We are just back from Dorset we stayed at Charmouth Camping and Caravan site, not sure if you had chance to visit the Lyme Regis Brewery they had some excellent beers. Lyme Regis is really nice although those pesky Seagulls took my £10 Crab baguette out of my hand after taking just one bite !!! I think the whole of the beach heard my expletives !! 🤣
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video :) Hope you had a lovely time in Dorset. We loved our time there. We did go to Lyme Regis, but we didn’t go to the brewery (not like us I know 😂) We’ll have to add it to the list for next time 👍🏻 Oh no, pesky seagulls! Haha don’t blame you for swearing if you’d only had one bite! 😂
Think you get 10% off at that Arboretum with your caravan and motor home card next time you go xx
Didn’t realise that, thanks so much for the info 👍🏻
Love a fossil. Reminds us how young we are 😊 Thanks for sharing. You dropped off my watch list for a while, don’t know how that happens but ‘back in the room’.
It’s nice to feel young 😂 Glad to have you back :) Thanks for watching!
Absolutely love that part of the country, staying in west bay at the start of October, so hoping to visit Weymouth and durdle door again and lulworth cove
Have an amazing time! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Was fully expecting you to do the men behaving badly roll down the knob 😂
🤣🤣🤣I really wanted to do that! Wish we had now! We weren’t sure if you were actually allowed to walk up to it, so we chickened out 😂😂
Great video in such a lovely area. I bet your doggo’s enjoyed the beach. Can I ask what lead and harness you use on them ? Thank you
Thank you :) Yes they love a beach walk! All of our leads and harnesses come from a small business called Indi Dog. Our boys have their Houdini harnesses. They are so called because it is pretty much impossible for the dog to slip the Houdini harness and get loose. They are hand made by the couple who own the business, so sometimes there can be quite long lead times if you order made to measure ones. Wouldn’t have our boys in any other gear though 👍🏻
Just come across your channel and really enjoy them, we have a Rollerteam 707 but I am looking into the possibility of downsizing and using as a second everyday vehicle. Great tip for brunch, must try👍 . We will be going to the Chatsworth site in a couple of weeks so this video is very useful. Definitely going to have a look round Bakewell.
Welcome! 👋🏼 It’s interesting to hear about someone looking to downsize. There seems to be a lot of people that are deciding to go bigger at the moment. Can definitely recommend using a transporter as a daily driver, as that’s what we do 👍🏻 Glad to hear you enjoy the videos😊 Bakewell is lovely to have a wander round. Hope you have an amazing stay at Chatsworth. Thanks for watching :) 👍🏻
I love it around that coastline. 🏕🍻
It’s stunning isn’t it!
Awesome drone shots!
Glad you enjoyed the drone shots! Thanks for the support, we really appreciate it :)
My fav county. Lots of familiar places visited. Thanks for creating and sharing
Glad you are enjoying the videos! Thanks for watching!
Hi guys Whitby is beautiful so glad you shared Can I ask how you find the transporter, do you find it a bit small as it's a toss up between the t5.1 swb or even lwb or crafter Both have pros and cons
Hi 👋🏼 Glad you enjoyed the Whitby video :) We find the transporter suits us really well for the most part. We have to sleep in the pop top to make it work with two large dogs though. It’s really down to personal preference. We wanted something that would fit on our driveway and be useable as a daily driver as well. You could daily drive something bigger, but obviously it’s not quite as easy to park etc. Even a LWB transporter would have overhung our driveway, so we opted for the SWB and we love it!
Make a kid
This is local to me. Great place to stop off on a dog walk!
Yes it’s the perfect dog walk stop off 👍🏻
I’ve got the same conversion 🥰
Hi! 👋🏼 Not very often we hear from other people with New Wave conversions! 😊 What do you think of yours? We absolutely love ours! Top quality conversion for sure! 👍🏻
Yeah the quality is so good and none of those edging strips like the cheap conversions. Only thing I don't like is the door and the window behind the blinds could do with a cover as I think they look untidy.
@@KingdomTimes Do you mean you’d prefer it to look similar to the window behind the kitchen units with the wooden surround?? The no edging strip thing was definitely a massive factor in us going for that conversion. Love having the corian worktop as well 👍🏻
nice video, but why did you do fake glass actually?
Hi 👋🏼 thank you :) We only have one fake glass panel on the van. We wanted windows all round, but there was no point having one at the back on the drivers side, as the wardrobe would cover it. To make it look even, the converter left the metal in tact on that panel and put a fake window there. We could have just had two windows at the front and left both back panels the original metal, but we really wanted to let as much light in as possible. We opted to have the rear passenger side done, and make it look like the van has windows all round with the fake glass on the rear drivers side 👍🏻
Quick view of Yorkshire pop top adventures at the start. Cheers guys
Hi Andy! 👋🏼 Colin was everywhere that weekend! 😂 We had a chat with him when we bumped into him and Michelle one day. Lovely couple 👍🏻 Cheers 🍻
Loving your vlogs! It was such a great weekend. Love your costumes too 😂
Thank you 😊 It was the best weekend! So much fun! We will definitely be back! Glad you like the costumes 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Was lovely to bump into you guys, the weekend was mint , loving your content ❤
It was such a good weekend wasn’t it! Everyone seemed to have such a good time. We loved it and will definitely be back 👍🏻 Glad you enjoy the content, thanks for watching! 😊🫶
Strange, I thought I’d seen you guys from the other side of the field on Sunday around the show and shine but no dogs, so passed it off that it probably wasn’t. Perhaps it was you after all 😂😂
🤣🤣 It was probably us you saw😂 If people recognise us, it’s usually because of the dogs! 😂 They spent the weekend with Lou’s Mum and Dad as they wouldn’t have settled at the festival with so many people around. They most likely consumed their body weight in biscuits, as Lou’s Mum spoils them 😂
Hi What month did travel. Cheers
We travelled end of April into early May 👍🏻
Great video. This is one on my list now, particularly since the bar was showing the football, all of which I missed because the wi-fi at my campsite in Dorset was useless.
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed the video. Oh no, sorry to hear you missed the football. We enjoyed the Durdle Door site. Would definitely recommend the pitches we stayed on 👍🏻
Fab video as usual. My favourite part of the world. Dorset is heaven blessed imo. Thank you for creating and sharing
Dorset is stunning isn’t it! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching 😀👍🏻
Was there last week, the walk from Lulworth cove to durdle door is about a 1.2 mile up a stone lengthy hill and gravel the other side to durdle door, if you have difficulty walking especially uphill, you will struggle.
Yes 100% it’s not for everyone. We did go to Lulworth cove, but we took the van down as we knew our almost 13 year old dog would really struggle on the way back. Hope you had a good time when you were there. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thanks guys this was a superb watch,I have now subscribed to your Channel, I am 67 soon I'm looking forward to buying my first Volkswagen camper van ...so this was a great vid👌🏽👏🏽💛🙏🏽😊
Glad you enjoyed the video! We hope you have lots of amazing adventures in your van when you get it. Thanks so much for subscribing 👍🏻😊
Went there last year, great place and after a few walks down to the beach your calves will explode 😂 , no bull we where set up on 13 to, crazy
No way! What a coincidence! We loved pitch 13, great spot. Oh yeah, total calf burn walking back from the beach! 🤣🥵
Lovely video, really enjoyed it. You are great dog parents in my eyes. We have a very hairy dog and he is our top consideration while travelling and keeping him comfy and happy. Great info on the beers and your choices.Pasta looked tasty too😀Looking forward to the next one 😀😀
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed the video. That’s such a lovely comment! We always do our best to keep them safe and happy. Sounds like you are also a great dog parent🫶 We love talking about beer 😂 Stay tuned as there will be more parts to this trip coming soon. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
What a great Video thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Looks beautiful there. Loved the filming at sea level while you were swimming, gives it lovey perspective. The drone shots were beautiful. I am always grateful for some ideas for meals and the pasta salad looked delicious! I have the same issue with my French Bulldog when it comes to summer temperatures. He is quite heat intolerant so we are restricted to what we can do during the hotter weather. looking forward to the next upload :-)
It’s a lovely stretch of coastline for sure and the huge pitch was great for the dogs! Glad you enjoyed the swimming shots and the drone footage. We really enjoyed getting those- although the sea was a bit fresh 🥶🤣 The pasta salad is a nice easy meal to do in the van, and you could easily change it up and add different ingredients to make it different every time. Aww yes the shorter nosed breeds have a tough time in the summer don’t they bless them. It can be frustrating when we have to stay at the van in the shade, but its all part of being a good dog parent isn’t it. We always try to keep Dallas and Sabre out of the really hot weather if we can. Thanks so much for watching, there will be more videos to come :)
Great video buddy thanks for sharing 👍 iv stayed down there at West bay amazing campsite not far from wear you are
Thanks Gary. We really enjoyed Dorset, it was a stunning bit of coastline. We’ll definitely go back there at some point so we’ll bear that campsite in mind. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@VanVibesandSibes the campsite is highlands end amazing views pub on site carvery on Sunday and the facilities are great and if you are in to your tv serese broad church was filmed there 😀
Sounds amazing! We loved Broadchurch so we’ll have to check that one out when we come down to Dorset again 👍🏻
Hi when you did the nc500 were did you start from and were did you end and how did it take you to do we are new to camping we have just borought Vw transporter t6.1 and we want to do the nc500 next year please can you help many thanks
Hi 👋🏼 The official NC500 route starts and ends in Inverness. We started at Beauly Holiday park just West of inverness, and finished in Inverness itself. We also did a couple of detours, as we went on to Skye, and after we finished the official route, we went over to Glenfinnan viaduct as well. It took us two weeks in total which includes getting up there from Leicestershire and getting back down again. It’s up to you really on how long you want to spend on the route. You could drive round it in as little as a couple of days, but there’s no way you can see everything you’ll want to see if you do that. Personally I would allow at least 10 days, so that you can really enjoy the experience and not feel too rushed. If you watch the rest of our NC500 videos, you’ll see how much we crammed in lol. Congrats on the new van! We hope you have lots of amazing adventures!
Thanks for the reply 👍do you have the thickness?
We believe it’s 16mm 👍🏻
@@VanVibesandSibes Thank you.
Hi can you please tell me what your bed board is made of? Thank you.
We think we remember the converter telling us that the poptop bed board is birch ply. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
