- Shaky performing two tracks live and miming to a third (although the band are miming throughout - quite badly!) and looking and sounding great on a German TV Telethon. He sings "Marie Marie", "Oh Julie" and "The Fire in Her Blood" (The last track is a studio vocal).

I saw Shaky several times in Germany the 1980s. All were sold out concerts. He was as popular in Germany as he was in the UK.
Indeed..proof that Germans ALSO have great taste in music 😊 I went to a couple of German Shaky gigs in 2019 and yes, they were packed out.

I went to six gigs last year and can confirm that his vocals were like this throughout. I got to meet him before one of the German gigs and was chatting about this to his manager, she puts it down to them hitting the gym twice a week. It seems to be working...

I remember seeing Shaky performing at The Adam & Eve pub in Homerton, East London before he was famous back in the 1970s and there was no admission to get in.
I was too young to get into pubs in the 70s but I'm seriously jealous! Getting to see him performing raw rock 'n' roll in a small venue...was he still with the Sunsets then?
@@andy6576 yes Shaky was with The Sunsets at this time and was until October 1977. During the mid 1970s, it was quite normal to see groups like Shakin’ Stevens and the Sunsets, Crazy Cavan and the Rhythm Rockers and Matchbox in various London pubs and I don’t recall ever paying an admission fee.
@@rogerauclair1670 Oh man, you got to see live UK rockabilly at its very finest. I have a few Crazy Cavan vinyls, a great band.
@@andy6576 on one occasion I even spoke to Cavan Grogan to request a song. The band stuck it out together for 50 years, from 1970 up to Cavan Grogan’s death in 2020.

Richtig starke Performance, und das mit 71!

Das stimmt, aber dennoch hört es sich irgendwie gedämpft und sehr angestrengt an. Aber das ist vollkommen okay, denn wir alle werden älter und es ist immer noch besser als mit gealtertem Gesicht zu Playbacks von vor 40 Jahren zu singen.

Well, he still tours. His last was in 2019 and he was MEANT to tour in 2020 but...Covid. Definitely go see him if you get the chance in future, though. It's a good time!
