I just want to thank you Damian. I used to be a lot more into social media and content than I have been the last 6 months. I put a lot of energy into becoming fully self sufficient as a producer/engineer and building a home studio so that I can release my own music more regularly. The last 2 releases I went more traditional with full EP/Album releases through a Pre-Order and those strategies just aren't relevant anymore. I've come back to the table now to reassess what I'm going to do and how I'm going to actively engage and build my audience online. Honestly I've been a bit lost and confused until I've started watching your videos and I feel inspired, in charge and reinvigorated again, so thank you! I've done all of this hard work to now realistically be able to release a new song at least once a month. And I'm going to take my album (which launches this Friday) and start doing a campaign that splits off content for each song and really maximises what I do for each song, things live fb lives dedicated to talking about that song, a release of that song, spotify, youtube promotion, social media lyric cards, gear tutorials of what I used in that song, studio play throughs. This is so much easier and more empowering than relying on expensive PR campaigns, expensive and time/energy intensive music videos and a kind of "release and pray" old school style strategy. You're also actively making me look into creative RUclips Channels like gamer channels and movie channels and see what they're doing. There's guys on here with only 100K subs making a full time income, and then filtering their audience through to Merch, Patreon, Twitch streams etc As a solo artist, its super easy for things to get overwhelming but this is really helping and I thank you for making these videos and truly making a difference to people like me :)
Damian, I’ve seen a few of your videos so far and think very highly of them. It’s especially refreshing to hear a Brit talk about these sorts of things when the medium is dominated by our cousins from across the pond. I found this video particularly useful. I’m an old geezer so not as we’ll versed with social media as kids are these days (that’s anybody under 40 for me)! But I find your explanations very clear and universally applicable. Keep up the good work mate.
Damian, thank you so much for these tips. I’ve only just come across your work and I’m learning so much from you. You are very generous with your content and I’m very grateful for that. I’ll be implementing your tips & will let you know how it’s going 🙏🌞✨💫
All awesome stuff. Bought your book, watching all your material. I'm going to be starting "Single a month for 12 months" campaign with a new project. This stuff is so helpful.
I’m not sure how I discovered you Damian, but thank god I did. I’m reinventing myself with artists and recording projects, under the, Titan Wight Production banner. My aim is to exploit the other end of the market, because your over 50, does not mean your dead!! You are a genius man, a man that knows exactly how to create what we all need. Keep it up, because you are an epic creator, you may have just become my guru!!
Man I've been binging on your vids for a while now but 5-10 stories every day for insta? 99 percent of your stuff is good, but that is MAD!! Undoable, soul selling. And what when they get up on their high horse and change their algorithm - I do a story of my jumping from the 20th floor... Anyway Great stuff!
#60minwin Great video man. It’s really useful to have these points to make sure everything is being done correctly. Keep the video coming and much love
Damian Thanks for sharing these important advices. I can easily see how they apply for a young band, with the look and attitude, and more importantly targeting young (below 40) audience. But what can an old artist, targeting old fashion audience do to grow a fan base? Are we doomed when over 50? Congrats for your contents, take care Salvador
Still, I can't help but feel the attention economy is giving us incitements to be obnoxious (I'd be much happier if everyone collectively stopped "squeezing the lemon", thank you very much) and making attention seeking zombies out of us, screaming obscenities and pointless trivialities into the wilderness in a quest for ratings that will never really satisfy us. I get that this channel is about surviving in todays media climate, but in time the goal should be to change it. Any thoughts on how to do that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Damian, Could you elaborate on tip number one? I’m still unsure about how much music I should be posting to my social media. And how much repetition is appropriate. It can be too much or too little of either. I’d like to learn more about good habits for posting music on social media. I love your channel. Great work! Thanks, Andrew
Love you man! Your insights are amazing! I’m putting my nose to the grindstone with these suggestions. Please send me the links to management companies because I can’t remember which video had those links and I’m on the grind and trying to work my way to manage my band until we can find someone with deeper reach.
Thank you :) There will be a competition soon to get involved with me to manage not only the socials but to help manage a band so keep your eyes peeled over the next few days :)
I thought someone else must've been watching.. I've been trying to get my head around all his videos as his advice is slightly different for a pandemic (of course making content is harder as.. you can't go out!!) but making a plan based on his vids all the same!
Great Tips man! I would appreciate if you could edit your videos and add some text/headlines or bullet points while speaking or mentioning a band at least. Thanks bro for sharing :)
Hey man, what are your thoughts regarding the uploading the same content over multiple platforms? I.e it’s possible to crosspost to Facebook from Instagram, or tweeting the same photo/video as well as uploading it elsewhere simultaneously. Do you think doing this waters down the impact of your content? I’ve sort of justified it to myself as casting a wider net but I’ve not really been able to discern whether it makes any difference or not.
Apparently Facebook ‘rewards’ you for posting directly. I’ve been cross- posting and my Facebook page growth nearly froze because of it. Now I see Its better to post the same story separately on fb as well as Instagram, etc. That way it gets seen much more. I wish they made things more simple...
For me, and what I’ve seen as both an artist and an audience member, IG is king. Here in Bogotá nobody uses snapchat, and FB has gotten progressively less relevant; but if you have a following on IG then you’re good. Some people even open tinder accounts and list their band on their bio saying “hey, I never answer Tinder chat so just follow me here @faircardinals (mine) and we can talk!” I guess it works for good looking bands (?)
