  • Lava floods the major access road to Blue Lsgoon. Blue Lagoon closes down. View of the crater yesterday. Wildfires southeast of volcano. Blast the crater walls. Nesvegur road west of Grindavik had been restored and will be the main access route to Blue Lagoon now.
    5th Volcanic Eruption (8th since 2021) of Reykjanes Volcano started on May 29th, 2024 at 12:50 just north of Grindavik, Reykjanes Peninsula. As for 16:00 May 29th the erupting fissure was 3.4 km long and the lava ran over the road no. 43 (Grindavik road) for the 2nd time in that location (first time back in January) and also over road 425 (Nesvegur) west of town. By the evening of the first day activity subsided and was concentrated along some 2 km stretch, more or less at the same location as back in March, around the old crater. As for today, June 3 we have two distinct cones erupting close distance to each other, emitting lava flows in the opposite directions: the northern cone emits lava to the east, while the southern one (bigger one) sends lava to the west where its facing a mountain (Sylingafell). Southern cone also emits lava to the south via a tube, where we see a lava pool.

    I admire the tenacity and steadfastness of the Icelanders with which they wrestle with these forces of nature for Grindavik and the blue lagoon, I wish you that you win this struggle, and when this volcano goes out again at some point you will have peace for a few hundred years :)

    Could you also do a video showing previous volcanic eruptions such as Laki? And show what it looks like now and what are the possibility such an eruption there could happen again plus how it would affect both Europe and the world today?👍

    Roman, I found 2 other possibilities to reach the Blue Lagoon! 1. from Viking World or 2. Ferry to Grindavik and repair the roads from there, whichever is easier & cheapest!! Get the European Union to help out with the Financial Aid!!!

    Some of the Blue Lagoon workers were originally Grindavik residents too - so they have suffered a double whammy of the closure of the facilities and loss of their home.
    When I visited the Blue Lagoon in February, I met a worker who was thus affected on the bus travelling there.
    At least it seems that they do get paid, even when it has to close. Traumatic, nevertheless.

    How close are those cars to the left of the over road lava. Amazing. 2 min and tiny could have been other side?

    Roman, Can you suggest to the Blue Lagoon owner to hire a passenger only Ferry by Sea to get the employees & customers to the facility? The tour bus company you work for would drop off your passengers at the dock!! I came from Seattle Washington State which does this for Commuters from across Puget Sound, all the time!

    This volcano is a creator, not a destroyer. It is creating new land in Iceland. It is the Humans who are arguing with Mother Nature, and desperately trying to orchestrate where the new land is being built.

    Stupid lava, standing between the lagoon and its tourist money! Time to build a direct access tunnel to the lagoon and never get shut down by lava flows again. Unless it overruns the lagoon itself.

    When people need to work a job in order to live they are slaves. Could it be that this applies to all of us?

    • @SurLaMer_
      @SurLaMer_ Месяц назад +1

      OK so what's your alternative?

    • @walterdewald267
      @walterdewald267 Месяц назад

      @@SurLaMer_ That's our problem to solve. First of all people need to understand the nature of money. Money is not god given. Actually we are the only species on this planet who needs money to live.
      Money is a tool for those who produce it. And the producers are not the governments.
      Money is a fiction that "they" (the ominous they 🙂) use in order to gain real wealth. Our wealth.
      Money is used to steal our hard work for their purposes.
      Once that is understood by us people we can start to discuss alternatives.
      There are several ways, probably they will differ locally by culture but all of them will have the base of not using money, barter, trade or any form of such direct exchange.
      Apart from that we the humans will really have to evaluate our values.
      I could go on and elaborate more but hope you respond and please be critical of my ideas but also fair.
      I know the current state of the world and am scratching my head of how to achieve that.
      Very much so because of the values mankind holds close at the moment.

    Were there not berms built along the road leading to Blue Lagoon, it's been overrun every eruption just about?
    It would hopefully redirect the flow and slow it down?

    A few aerial water drops would easily stop those moss fires. Does Iceland not have any firefighting aircraft at all? Maybe it's time to call Coulson!
