I do a similar exercise chromatically up and down neck and all the strings anchoring my index on the root note to work on finger dexterity and economy motions it’s great finger workout and it sounds very melodic that helps lol 🤘🏻

Thank you for this. Do you think John Petrucci is one of if not the best guitar player of all time? The music he makes is not my favorite but from a technical/ difficulty perspective I feel like I have never seen anyone as good as he is.
He's a beast. I wouldn't necessarily say "the best" but in his genre he certainly is.
