It’s a excellent piece of kit!, great review! I think the “Special” button on the cart is used for things like Action Replay/Freezer Carts as the freeze/reset button. Thanks Chinny!
"I AM HIM!"
I like that music now !!
Good timing. Saw this cart on ebay the other day and wondered what it was.
What on Earth was that spy diong in the door of the plane, Elvis impersonations? Then a bit later, when the car was doing a KITT out of the lorry. What happy little trees, smiling away.
Might hold off until Multi-disk support/Disk-swapping support comes in, looks pretty good so far though. Now all I need is a Joystick solution...
To be honest multi disk isn't usually an issue as you'll just use a cartridge version which is far quicker to load.
I've been thinking of setting my C64 back up, so might just very well pick one of these up, since alot of my original tapes are rapidly approaching "READY RUN READY" status.
Well that's just GREAT, now I need to buy a C64 😅
Love The Real Rod Hill references 😍
Wonder how many people get it lol
GReat review! Even though I have an SD2IEX and Easyflash 3, I'm considering buying one.
Thank you for this review!
I’m especially interested in the Freezer cartridges like Action Replay. How long does the selected CRT file remain in the flash memory?
Say if I selected Action Replay, switch off the C64 and switch it back on after a few days, will the Action Replay start up or will the menu be presented to make me select the desired CRT again?
Yes it should load the previous cart.
Just noticed you are using old firmware. 1.21p is the up to date version and adds Freeze functions and other fixes.
I used what it was sent with in November.
I got my Kung Fu Flash yesterday.. DXX images don't work all the time, I got my one for CRT images and use my SD2IEC for disks.
If a disk image doesn't work, try a newer crack. It's very much like the M4 on the CPC in that regard as I hopefully say.
@@chinnyvision I don't really use for disks anyway.. Easy Flash images or CRT and tools like fastloaders and other cartridge utility's
I saw that you loaded up a couple of games which originally had the levels as multi-loads. Would I be correct in assuming that these games have been converted into CRT files which have the whole levels combined as one file?
Sorry, this was over a year ago so I can't remember. But more than likely I was using the CRT capability.
@@chinnyvision Not to worry, Google was my friend - I did some searching and confirmed that it was the CRT capability because people have converted multi-load games into a "one load" CRT file which is pretty cool. :)
I'm going to buy this because whilst the 1541 Ultimate is supreme, it's beyond my budget at £140 whereas this is £100 less!
Price if you're in the EU: roughly €93.
Without the customs tax for passing Dover.
This is a UK channel so if people are watching from further afield then they'll have to take into account any extra charges.
I checked that there expensive to ship to the eu but the customs/tax charges are prepaid
is there a mega65 emulator?
No idea what a Mega65 is.
imagine a C64 40x faster with 3 or 4 sid chips
@@random_precision_software Or just buy an Amiga.
@@chinnyvision an Amiga doesn't run at 48 mhz? Only 8 iSn't?
@@random_precision_software Mine runs at 28 MHz and is 32 bit
safe to use on a c64.?..seems a very unconventional way of doing things..i suppose cassettes and floppies are eliminated using this.
Totally safe. These solutions are well established and if you buy from a reputable supplier like The Future Was 8 Bit you know they are designed by people with 30 years + experience of the C64.
