    This is really really nice , American Flyer on a 5x9 sheet . I thought 2 track was becoming extinct ! Guess my brain started moving in that direction again , you gave me some ideas !!! ✌

      It's almost the same layout my parents made for my brother, sister and me around 1961. My sidings are different than that one.

    What a great video showing the various stages of construction. Wait a minute I saw a car in that garage. 🤨

      Thank you. Yes, there was a car. I passed that along to one of our sons after we moved from that house.

      Thank you. Several viewers had commented they were thinking of making a layout. I'm hoping they find this motivating.
      I know I was motivated after watching your series of videos on the upstairs S gauge layout to build my 16 ft shelf layout.

    Looks great! Question: with the white packaging foam as a base, what adhesive and paint did you use on your scenery. They have a nice, postwar look to them.

      Thank you. I used white Elmer's glue for the layered sections. I sealed the outside of all the styrofoam with Mod-Podge. I used Krylon textured spray paints in 5 different colors blended as I sprayed it on. I also used different colors of Woodland Scenic ground covers sprinkled into the wet paint. My goal was to get a lot of the colors that were seen on the covers of mid fifty's catalogs from American Flyer

    Clever and interesting track plan! Where on earth did you find such thick sections of foam to carve??

    • @willamettevalleyAFtrains
      @willamettevalleyAFtrains  Год назад +1

      Thank you. Almost all of the styrofoam was packing material that cabinets and vanities were shipped with.

    By any chance, do you have a drawing showing this track plan?

      I had a drawing years ago but I don't know where it is now. The layout was originally on a 5X9 ping pong table.

    American Flyer always looked far more scale than Lionel.

      They stayed pretty true to the 3/16" scale. Passenger cars were shortened to work with 20" radius. They did a good job for the coupling and space between cars.
      Thank you for watching and your comments.

    They needn't be toy trains, though. So fast I could hardly see anything.

      I agree. Those degments were all recorded before I had a RUclips channel or intended them to be viewed.
      Thanks for your comments.
