    Thank you for sharing this video! I've been a personal stylist working for about 8 years now and what I've learned (working retail) is that while it helps build confidence in speaking to people 1:1, styling different body types, helping the client get a better understanding of what their style looks like I don't love the "selling" especially when you have daily goals/quotas to obtain. What I really enjoy is the personal connection of the job, helping that client find what they need for whatever they're shopping for... I'd love for you to make a part two to this video if you can of how to get into celebrity styling/photo shoots and what steps to take etc! I find myself at a loss of where to start.

    This was so helpful!! I’m 20 and have been wanting to go back to school for fashion. This would be my first year in college. I’m really interested in either being a costume designer or fashion/wardrobe stylist!! Do you have any god tips for extreme amateurs to get started and really get themselves out there in the industry?

      @BRAVEMOODE  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Alanah! I'm so glad the video was so helpful for you! Congrats in advance on going back to school for fashion! I actually have a few other videos that might answer your question more in depth. This video talks about how to become a Fashion Stylist for beginners: ruclips.net/video/1jyEiD0dGi8/видео.html -- my next video will be about how to become a costume designer (more specifically how to get into the costume design industry, bc its a completely different beast). Generally I can tell you now that the best thing to do is seek out movie/t.v. show production companies in your state and reach to them to ask about Production Assistant or Costume Production Assistant opportunities. This will help you get your feet wet and get experience!

    i’m here because i’m at my last year of fashion high school and i need to choose a path at the end of the school year. I’ve been interested in almost all of these but my question is if for all of these you need to have sewing skills! because i’m interested in celebrity stylist, but also wardrobe stylist (?) for tv shows or movies, but i don’t understand if there’s this type of figure, who has to build up the character image, even without creating the clothes (since i don’t think i want to make them from scratch). i don’t know if i explained myself well but thank you in advance! ❤️

Based on what is going on in this world having this option is vital, but I have no idea what tools can be used to shop with the client online where we can put clothes that we choose in a cart, let them see the outfits and buy them.

    I am currently a first year fashion student and want to become a stylist. since it will be my first time collabing with models and photographers, maybe through instagram who aren't apart of a company, would i need to bring clothes myself? or should i expect the clothes to already be at the studio/place of work? Hey! Generally, you would provide the clothing if you are collaborating with other creatives. Normally, the only instance you would not provide clothing is if you are styling commercials, digital/print ads, product shots, etc. for a clothing brand. I hope that answers your question!

    I have a question 🥹lol what companies do you recommend for personal shopping and with little no no professional experience ; how do I decide how talented I am or enough to advertise myself ? I’m often just told I can dress and I believe it but how can I measure that with competitors in the field ?

    • @BRAVEMOODE
      @BRAVEMOODE  2 года назад

      Hey there! Amazon and Stitch Fix might be good companies to look into if you're just starting out. Styling is like art, some people will like your work and think that you're talented and other's won't. Just keep creating and constantly study your own work so that you can grow. Keep in mind that hard work and your level of professionalism out-weighs talent 100% time. ;-)

    Is dress code a thing if you want to be a fashion editor/director. Can revealing tattoos prevent you from working for a magazine company?

    • @BRAVEMOODE
      @BRAVEMOODE  3 года назад +1

      Hi Banele, great question! Usually self expression is encouraged in most environments, but it really depends on what publication you're working for. When interviewing you can ask about the dress policy. If I were going into a magazine publisher's office everyday (say, Hearst for example) I would dress tastefully, but also fashionably. Please let me know if I answered your question!

    Hi. How do I get my test shoots published please? And do I get paid for it

    • @BRAVEMOODE
      @BRAVEMOODE  4 года назад +1

      Hi there! Generally what you’ll do is search on Google, Instagram, etc. for magazines that accept submissions. There are TONS, including Vogue Italia. The magazine should have a page that breaks down their submission guidelines. Be sure to adhere to the guidelines strictly. You may want to research magazines to submit to before completing a shoot so that you can meet the submission deadline for the upcoming issue and just in case they require a particular amount of looks or photos. You do not get paid for submissions, as you are essentially using their platform to promote your work. Some magazines charge a submission fee. I get this question often, so I’ll make a video on this that goes into greater detail!

    Do you think school is necessary to pursue a career as a personal stylist?

    • @BRAVEMOODE
      @BRAVEMOODE  5 лет назад +5

      Hey! With any styling career, experience is the best schooling and the most beneficial, but it does take quite some time to earn. However, I would say the short answer is yes, or at least some schooling (as in earning some sort of a certificate verses a 4-year degree) is necessary. The long answer: It's even better if you're able to go to school and get experience through assisting a professional Personal Stylists at the same time. More specifically I would suggest earning either a degree or certificate(s) in Fashion Design and Fashion Styling or Personal Styling if it's available. (Even earning a certificate in Business Entrepreneurship will be very helpful). Not only will having a fashion degree or certificate make you more reputable amongst industry professionals and your personal styling clients, it will also provide you with the essential fundamentals of clothing and the fashion industry as a whole. To truly be successful you'll want to gain a keen understanding of fashion industry terminology, a general understanding of garment construction (pattern making, sewing, etc.), how certain fabrics and pattern designs fit and work for particular body shapes, and more.
