Frugal is Fun . I cut the bottom of my toothpaste and can get up to a week of use. And I always get an unusual amount of pride out of doing it because other people throw the tube out and there's still a week's worth of toothpaste in there. Lol
I use hair dye from Dollar Tree and I only section off a little bit of my hair to dye using a mascara brush....I have very little gray hair..only on my bangs. I only were my hair in a ponytail or French roll...Hence No one can tells if the hair I gave myself is perfect
Make up can be fun because down deep most want to improve our looks...however we aren't going to miraculously look like the people on the get ready with me videos...we can run out and buy what we are shown in the videos...but we are going to still look like ourselves...use good judgement with makeup purchases...all of the palettes and such may only have one or two colors that you use...palettes pile up...I would rather have money pile up...challenge yourself to only 10 total beauty items...and just replace them when you use it completely up....also it's good for the planet because most makeup is packaged in plastic...so use self discipline in choosing....
I have stopped dying my hair because the cost kept going up, and the dye wasn't lasting more than 2-3 weeks before gray was showing(Welcome natural gray). Secondly I am only grocery shopping for sale, clearance item's. I am using up everything that I already have, and I am rethinking what to do with the last of condiments and spices that I have lingering around. And oh my gosh, the decluttering is so freeing, we have started with our pole barn, and we have done pretty good. Selling what is of value, donating what still has life left in it, and throwing away(very little,just things tested that don't work). Clothes will be later. But we are making the effort to get to a capsule wardrobe. But living on a Homestead, we have work clothes and out of the house clothes. Then there's cruise, dressy clothes. Ugh. Later. Also we have all 4 seasons, so there's that, oh and hunting clothes. Yeah, lots. Time to work through freezers and canning jars.
Kate, when the tube of tooth past gets that low just cut the tube in half, you’ll get at least 4 more brushes fulls out of it that way. To keep it from drying out just put the non cap end over the cap end where you cut it. I do this with hand lotion as well.
Frugal is fun! One thing I do is to have a "one spend day". I pick one day in the week(in my case it's Tuesday) to shop for non-essential items, and I make a specific list of what I want. On all other days I only purchase essential items; so if I run out of an essential item like toothpaste on a Friday I can buy that at the drugstore, but not a non-essential item like lipstick. This has helped me to save money and avoid impulse purchases.
On makeup i wear it on the days i work, the rest of the time i am very minimal with it, makes it all last longer too which in the long tunnel saves money

I can go with red belt, earrings, red watch and black and red purse, black or red shoes or I can go with cream belt, pearl jewellery, black velvet and pearl beaded clutch, and cream shoes. Or I can use brown and cream chiffon over jacket and gold jewellery and black shoes, or simply wear black and use a scarf to accessorize. One dress and so many looks. Have a good weekend.
I stopped coloring my hair 6 years ago. I get more compliments on my gray hair than I did on my colored hair. It even encouraged a few women I know to stop coloring as well. 😊
I have had for about 20 years a very fancy sewing machine bought used (but still cost more than my first used car) and it was giving me so much trouble….I knew that I’d only replace it with a very , very cheap one BUT first I researched on You Tube, like a maniac……and hallelujah….after just a lot of time and trying “stuff” I did it!!! Works great, I saved $$ and I’m kinda proud of the effort and success!!! Also, “use up inventory” is my new mantra…☺️
In 6th grade, another girl and I had a challenge of sorts between us to see who had more outfits in thier closet than the other. I'm sure sometimes folks wondered if we were toddlers or kindergarteners throwing together less than ideal outfit and accessory combinations but that challenge has served me well ever since. I have a rotation system for my "closet". Freshly laundered folded items go to the bottom of the folded stack. Freshly laundered hang ups go to the right while I encourage myself to draw from the left. I use forward versu backward positioning in some drawer instances. This isn't perfect 'cause things aren't curated in terms of color etc.. and I freely give myself to pull from anywhere in stack, row, or column. But it does get me being more creative in my clothing combinations and keeps items from lingering unworn for "a while"....I am going to have to check out utube tee shirt styling however.
On long trips in the car, we stopped eating out. We bought a Hot Logic and put our home cooked meals in it and heat them up while driving. It cuts down on costs of food and time we would normally spend eating at a sit-down restaurant. Hot Logics can be bought on their website or on Amazon. I learned about them on RUclips.
Honestly, I thought today was Friday. I was quite bummed that I didn’t have a weekly Frugal Friday video. What a relief to realize that today is Thursday!!! Looking forward to tomorrow morning coffee with you!
I learned on RUclips how to extend the life of my iPhone7 (2016) until this year. Apple finally stop updating the IOS for the 7. 😢 It was still working.
One way we save $$ is we have a garden and I start my own plants from seed. This year I have 17 tomato, 11 eggplant, 6 squash, 4 okra, 15 snow peas, 24 broccoli, 22 cauliflower, 6 kale, 40 green beans and I have less than $10 invested in the plants. Not counting my time or water ( we have a well) and I reuse seed starting equipment from year to year. I also start my own sweet potato slips from the previous harvest and grow my own seed potatoes from previous harvests. There was startup costs on the beds/grow bags and original dirt, but I am able to make my own compost to add back to the soil every year. It’s a lot of work and my fingernails aren’t pretty, but I never have a recall on my veggies!
This may sound a bit OCD but, if you cut off the end of the toothpaste tube, then open up the length, you can get quite a few more days out of the tube! I haven't had a hair cut in over 2 years, and am keeping a tight rein on the budget (though I did splurge £1.60 on a punet of apricots as a birthday treat for myself today).
Frugal is FUN! This video really struck a chord! I simplified my clothes using project 333. I let go a lot and spend much less on clothes since. At Christmas I chose my favourite makeup and boxed the rest. Some earned its way back so now I am using my favourites. I’ve tossed most of the stuff I boxed up. I had an allergic reaction to some expensive Sephora stuff and had to simplify skincare about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back. I finally embraced my greys and my curly hair and got a short wash n wear cut. No more blow dryer or straightening iron or dye jobs. Simple seems to be cheaper every time I try it and it certainly is easier day to day.
Makeup I switched from expensive Lancome to Sephora own brand for less than half the cost. I keep cosmetic to a minimal. Blush, press powder, mascara and maybe 3 lipsticks. One is for evenings. I have eye shadows that i only wear if going out at night or special occasion.

At 65 I wear creams, sunscreen and eyebrow pencil, undereye cover up . That’s enough for me and I’ve also bought a lot of make up in the past thinking I would wear it. 😉never happened . Frugal is fun

Frugal is fun😊 I’m 100% that person that used every drop drives hubby crazy on some things. This yr we are paying ourselves 1st it has made a huge difference. I shop yard sales, Goodwill, etc.. for stuffed toys for our dogs. I need a basket for a raffle gift I’m putting together going to hopefully get one @ a yard sale tomorrow. 😊❤😊
This summer I decided to not only only plan my meals around what I have on hand or what is on sale, but to plan meals around the forecasted temperatures. So, on very hot days, I will not be using my oven, but opting for picnic-type meals, or using our grill or crockpot. Fortunately, I have a patio door and deck right off my kitchen (with an electrical outlet out there), so I can place my crockpot on the deck!

I worked in fashion, but i like more styles than in fact, really do suit me. Honestly, when i like something, i wanted it, and didn t really care if its truly my colours etc. As i know a lot about fashion, styling and the perfect combos, that was often an excuse to buy a perfect outfit, that fitted me well, but didnt suit my personality, which made me look fake or too young or too old. Knowing my best colours and patterns and fabrics better, and analyzing what i feel good in and why, makes me save money, because i am less tempted to buy less than perfect clothes now.
Well said and ditto this experience! Carol's program is eye-opening. Definitely recommend; saves a lot of time as well as money, because you know right away when something is not going to look right and it speeds up shopping and overwhelm, esp if there's a large pile of clothes to choose from.

Decided to let my naturally gray/white/silver hair grow out. No more hair coloring for me. Also, using up what I have in the makeup/beauty products before buying new. We use every last bit of everything, including toothpaste 😂
I used to be so hyped about makeup. I cringe thinking about the cost now. I got Sephora gift card on my bday 9 months ago and I only used it this week because I needed new mascara. I still have money left. I would have run to Sephora to get new stuff few years back. I just have different criteria now. I want fast, cheap, efficient, I already made up my mind what works for me and I'm not tempted at all by new products.

I am doing a no buying clothes for 2024 and it has been extremely easy. Also doing a no spend week every other week and it has been so fun. Meaning not spending a dime at all for 7 days. I did a RUclips video about it, love it so much i am doing it for the month of June also
We began to use a disposable periodically last year and more often this year. Earlier we trial ran a non-disposable alternative (from what we owned no less) and its working so far. We're going to stick with our alternative even though it's non standard rather than buy or make a more traditional alternative and were going to stick with the non-disposable. The saving will be tremendous .

I won’t give up my hair. My sister bugs me about it - I tell her I’ll stop paying for my hair once she stops paying for cigarettes! That shushes her up quick. 😅 I am proud that I donated 10 bags of clothes/shoes. I love to organize and now I have SPACE in my closet it makes me happy!! When I realize I’m running out of space for the groceries I just bought I go through a good month ( I have a large stock pile) and only cook with what I have. I literally save hundreds of dollars.
I learned that by Dividing a cake mix that I get from Walmart for a dollar I can combine that with about 3 tbs of olive oil..enough water to have the consistency of a cake mix that you were going to bake. I start out by mixing it in a 10 inch frying pan...cook like a pancake.PERFECT. very little clean up..no egg needed..about the equivalentof 5 cupcakes
For many years, I have cut my own hair and once a year I buy blonde colour/stripes, the one with the hat that you draw out your hair from in small thin stripes and it turnes out sooo nice and natural and then it can grow out again. A box costs about 10€, so thats my budget for my hair/year. I cut my both childrens hair also 🙏
I am saving over $600 a year by making my own sourdough English waffles and bread. We used to buy the Dave’s Killer brand because it is healthier than plan white flour types, but whole wheat sourdough is better for you and less expensive.
frugal is fun. I haven't been to the hairdresser in 2.5 years now. I have long hair and I trim it a bit myself, but I usually wear it in a ponytail or bun. In my wardrobe I have 3 different sizes (JoJo weight), but few clothes. I did a colour analysis and I am a cool summer type. So I mainly have shades of blue, berry pink (pink with a cool undertone) and mint green and everything fits together so I don't need many different pieces of clothing in one of my sizes. I wear a uniform when I work (also helps to avoid needing a lot of different clothes) I also use up everything before I buy new. But I buy 2 new items if they are cheaper together than separately (e.g. the 2nd day cream at half price) but I only buy again when the 2nd jar is half empty and a similar promotion occurs again.
In my day we wore foundation, blush maybe a little concealer, pressed powdered, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick and that was for full face and to me that was a lot. I wear nothing now except blush, lipstick and mascara if I wear anything at all. I've seen the videos you referred to and it blows my mind!!!!!
Before you said, you quit cutting your hair, I noticed your hair was longer When I’m home I don’t wear make up But, most of the time, when I go out I put on lipstick, a little eye shadow, eye liner on my bottom eye lids, and mascara, I’m getting older and I am tired. I still cook almost everyday and do dishes, my husband does the laundry I suffer depression also I’ve let clutter take over my bedroom closet. Need to tackle, it just seems like an overwhelming task.
In the past I've grown a lot of my veggies to save money. Health issues happened over the last couple years and am not doing much of anything with that except for leaf lettuce and Swiss chard. Also because i live rural i make the very minimum amout of trips to town for groceries. I go out usually twice a month (w the exception of church) to get things done. Saves me fuel, and frees up time for me to get other things done. Had to laugh when u said he haddnt been to a hair appt in like 5 months. I havent been to the salon since 2016. No plans to go back. So pricey.
I have sensitive skin and even products designed for sensitive skin bother me. I learned from a European esthetician how to make my own skin care products. 74 years old and still no crows feet thanks to what I learned. Cut my own hair, wax eyebrows and do my own manicures and pedicures. I sew so made a lot of my own clothes and alter them. Learn proper footwear care like removing salt stains using household items from leather winter boots. Learned this from my grandfather who was a trained shoe maker. Just a few of the things I do.

Frugal is very fun!!! 🎉Two things I have adapted this year are if I want something I want a week before buying it (if I don’t need immediately). This allows me to understand if it’s important or appreciated enough for me to have it. Another thing I have been doing is attending community clothing swaps. It helps build connections but is also good for the environment. Thanks for all your videos, you helped me come out of a big hole on my credit card!

Cut your own hair and color it yourself. I think hairdressers charge too much and I do my own color and have my hair cut every two months and pay $60.00 and I do not tip him since he is the owner, and think it is a ridiculous price for a 40 minute haircut and blow dry. I have done the school in the past and liked it, but as I get older my hair is so fine and thinning I feel a little uncomfortable around younger people, because at a school sometimes the instructor has others observe them blow drying your hair.. But I think it is great price wise and they do a great job with color and cut, give it a try, I think you will like it. I went to a vocational school, and at the time you couldn’t tip them but you could leave a dollar donation, which I did. I might also look at utuber. videos on how to cut my own hair. Good hint for cloths I will try doing that.💕
So I just finished my masters and am at the last week of my main job. I too will be doing a MASSIVE declutter. I had done one during the pandemic and then I started a second job and grad school. So there was literally no time or attention left for house chores. So yes I actually am looking forward to diving deep into the house again. and feeling free of this anxiety. Oh one thing that I did during the pandemic was create a wardrobe of about 25 items. This works and has worked for the entire time. It really handles the decision fatigue. I have like a uniform now with navy as my base color.
We eat at home every day. I take snacks and drinks with us every where. We have a smaller home with a very low mortgage payment. We find free fun things to do. It might sound crazy but I go to the dollar tree to get water balloons and yes I have to fill up every single one lol but it’s sooo much cheaper and my son says he likes them better. Plan yourself a uniform. I wear yoga pants and a plain top. Keep a couple pair of nice pants and a few nicer tops for going out…oh and a dress or two. Keep it simple. We all have a little Jim in us!😂😂😂
Frugal is fun! I do all of these, but could do better. I like Kate's suggestion about checking on RUclips to find styling ideas for "maybe" clothing...will try it. I recently renegotiated my cell phone bill, switched companies, and will be saving $50 per month.

I'm sure sometimes folks wondered if we were toddlers or kindergarteners throwing together less than ideal outfit and accessory combinations but that challenge has served me well ever since. I have a rotation system for my "closet". Freshly laundered folded items go to the bottom of the folded stack. Freshly laundered hang ups go to the right while I encourage myself to draw from the left. I use forward versu backward positioning in some drawer instances. This isn't perfect 'cause things aren't curated in terms of color etc.. and I freely give myself to pull from anywhere in stack, row, or column. But it does get me being more creative in my clothing combinations and keeps items from lingering unworn for "a while"....I am going to have to check out utube tee shirt styling however.

On long trips in the car, we stopped eating out. We bought a Hot Logic and put our home cooked meals in it and heat them up while driving. It cuts down on costs of food and time we would normally spend eating at a sit-down restaurant. Hot Logics can be bought on their website or on Amazon. I learned about them on RUclips.

I learned on RUclips how to extend the life of my iPhone7 (2016) until this year. Apple finally stop updating the IOS for the 7. 😢

One way we save $$ is we have a garden and I start my own plants from seed. This year I have 17 tomato, 11 eggplant, 6 squash, 4 okra, 15 snow peas, 24 broccoli, 22 cauliflower, 6 kale, 40 green beans and I have less than $10 invested in the plants. Not counting my time or water ( we have a well) and I reuse seed starting equipment from year to year. I also start my own sweet potato slips from the previous harvest and grow my own seed potatoes from previous harvests. There was startup costs on the beds/grow bags and original dirt, but I am able to make my own compost to add back to the soil every year. It’s a lot of work and my fingernails aren’t pretty, but I never have a recall on my veggies!
This may sound a bit OCD but, if you cut off the end of the toothpaste tube, then open up the length, you can get quite a few more days out of the tube! I haven't had a hair cut in over 2 years, and am keeping a tight rein on the budget (though I did splurge £1.60 on a punet of apricots as a birthday treat for myself today).
I'm 80 years old and don't know how to dress my age...just know what is comfortable. Secondhand is for me
Frugal is FUN! This video really struck a chord! I simplified my clothes using project 333. I let go a lot and spend much less on clothes since. At Christmas I chose my favourite makeup and boxed the rest. Some earned its way back so now I am using my favourites. I’ve tossed most of the stuff I boxed up. I had an allergic reaction to some expensive Sephora stuff and had to simplify skincare about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back. I finally embraced my greys and my curly hair and got a short wash n wear cut. No more blow dryer or straightening iron or dye jobs. Simple seems to be cheaper every time I try it and it certainly is easier day to day.
In my country the government did free public transport for everyone, so I'm using more the bus instead of my own car.

Makeup I switched from expensive Lancome to Sephora own brand for less than half the cost. I keep cosmetic to a minimal. Blush, press powder, mascara and maybe 3 lipsticks. One is for evenings. I have eye shadows that i only wear if going out at night or special occasion.
I am growing my own veggies this summer to save $$$!

This summer I decided to not only only plan my meals around what I have on hand or what is on sale, but to plan meals around the forecasted temperatures. So, on very hot days, I will not be using my oven, but opting for picnic-type meals, or using our grill or crockpot. Fortunately, I have a patio door and deck right off my kitchen (with an electrical outlet out there), so I can place my crockpot on the deck!

'Dressing your truth' by Carol tuttle has helped me find my personal style in clothes. And save money. I worked in fashion, but i like more styles than in fact, really do suit me. Honestly, when i like something, i wanted it, and didn t really care if its truly my colours etc. As i know a lot about fashion, styling and the perfect combos, that was often an excuse to buy a perfect outfit, that fitted me well, but didnt suit my personality, which made me look fake or too young or too old. Knowing my best colours and patterns and fabrics better, and analyzing what i feel good in and why, makes me save money, because i am less tempted to buy less than perfect clothes now.
Well said and ditto this experience! Carol's program is eye-opening. Definitely recommend; saves a lot of time as well as money, because you know right away when something is not going to look right and it speeds up shopping and overwhelm, esp if there's a large pile of clothes to choose from.

We began to use a disposable periodically last year and more often this year. Earlier we trial ran a non-disposable alternative (from what we owned no less) and its working so far. We're going to stick with our alternative even though it's non standard rather than buy or make a more traditional alternative and were going to stick with the non-disposable. The saving will be tremendous .

When I realize I’m running out of space for the groceries I just bought I go through a good month ( I have a large stock pile) and only cook with what I have. I literally save hundreds of dollars.
I learned that by Dividing a cake mix that I get from Walmart for a dollar I can combine that with about 3 tbs of olive oil..enough water to have the consistency of a cake mix that you were going to bake. I start out by mixing it in a 10 inch frying pan...cook like a pancake.PERFECT. very little clean up..no egg needed..about the equivalentof 5 cupcakes
For many years, I have cut my own hair and once a year I buy blonde colour/stripes, the one with the hat that you draw out your hair from in small thin stripes and it turnes out sooo nice and natural and then it can grow out again. A box costs about 10€, so thats my budget for my hair/year. I cut my both childrens hair also 🙏
I am saving over $600 a year by making my own sourdough English waffles and bread. We used to buy the Dave’s Killer brand because it is healthier than plan white flour types, but whole wheat sourdough is better for you and less expensive.

I haven't been to the hairdresser in 2.5 years now. I have long hair and I trim it a bit myself, but I usually wear it in a ponytail or bun.
In my wardrobe I have 3 different sizes (JoJo weight), but few clothes. I did a colour analysis and I am a cool summer type. So I mainly have shades of blue, berry pink (pink with a cool undertone) and mint green and everything fits together so I don't need many different pieces of clothing in one of my sizes. I wear a uniform when I work (also helps to avoid needing a lot of different clothes)
I also use up everything before I buy new. But I buy 2 new items if they are cheaper together than separately (e.g. the 2nd day cream at half price) but I only buy again when the 2nd jar is half empty and a similar promotion occurs again.
In my day we wore foundation, blush maybe a little concealer, pressed powdered, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick and that was for full face and to me that was a lot. I wear nothing now except blush, lipstick and mascara if I wear anything at all. I've seen the videos you referred to and it blows my mind!!!!!
Before you said, you quit cutting your hair, I noticed your hair was longer
When I’m home I don’t wear make up
But, most of the time, when I go out I put on lipstick, a little eye shadow, eye liner on my bottom eye lids, and mascara, I’m getting older and I am tired. I still cook almost everyday and do dishes, my husband does the laundry

In the past I've grown a lot of my veggies to save money. Health issues happened over the last couple years and am not doing much of anything with that except for leaf lettuce and Swiss chard. Also because i live rural i make the very minimum amout of trips to town for groceries. I go out usually twice a month (w the exception of church) to get things done. Saves me fuel, and frees up time for me to get other things done. Had to laugh when u said he haddnt been to a hair appt in like 5 months. I havent been to the salon since 2016. No plans to go back. So pricey.
I have sensitive skin and even products designed for sensitive skin bother me. I learned from a European esthetician how to make my own skin care products. 74 years old and still no crows feet thanks to what I learned. Cut my own hair, wax eyebrows and do my own manicures and pedicures. I sew so made a lot of my own clothes and alter them. Learn proper footwear care like removing salt stains using household items from leather winter boots. Learned this from my grandfather who was a trained shoe maker. Just a few of the things I do.

1. I'm 53 & during COVID I stopped colouring my hair. My hair grew so much without the salon! So then I just got a great cutter/stylist!
2. Thrift shop for used clothes or Kmart Target.
3. Improve my diet & lifestyle to try & replace makeup.
4. I'm on leave this week & using everything in my freezer. Also decluttering my closets.
5. I used to love tik tok but YT suits me better for longer form videos.

Frugal is very fun!!! 🎉Two things I have adapted this year are if I want something I want a week before buying it (if I don’t need immediately). This allows me to understand if it’s important or appreciated enough for me to have it. Another thing I have been doing is attending community clothing swaps. It helps build connections but is also good for the environment. Thanks for all your videos, you helped me come out of a big hole on my credit card!

Cut your own hair and color it yourself. I think hairdressers charge too much and I do my own color and have my hair cut every two months and pay $60.00 and I do not tip him since he is the owner, and think it is a ridiculous price for a 40 minute haircut and blow dry. I have done the school in the past and liked it, but as I get older my hair is so fine and thinning I feel a little uncomfortable around younger people, because at a school sometimes the instructor has others observe them blow drying your hair.. But I think it is great price wise and they do a great job with color and cut, give it a try, I think you will like it. I went to a vocational school, and at the time you couldn’t tip them but you could leave a dollar donation, which I did. I might also look at utuber. videos on how to cut my own hair. Good hint for cloths I will try doing that.💕

So I just finished my masters and am at the last week of my main job. I too will be doing a MASSIVE declutter. I had done one during the pandemic and then I started a second job and grad school. So there was literally no time or attention left for house chores. So yes I actually am looking forward to diving deep into the house again. and feeling free of this anxiety. Oh one thing that I did during the pandemic was create a wardrobe of about 25 items. This works and has worked for the entire time. It really handles the decision fatigue. I have like a uniform now with navy as my base color.

We eat at home every day. I take snacks and drinks with us every where. We have a smaller home with a very low mortgage payment. We find free fun things to do. It might sound crazy but I go to the dollar tree to get water balloons and yes I have to fill up every single one lol but it’s sooo much cheaper and my son says he likes them better. Plan yourself a uniform. I wear yoga pants and a plain top. Keep a couple pair of nice pants and a few nicer tops for going out…oh and a dress or two. Keep it simple. We all have a little Jim in us!😂😂😂
