  • Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you… the world’s greatest truck! The 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro! With its stylish plastic bumpers that overhang and impact approach angles, to its plastic auto-zone decals on the interior… this new Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is sure to woo you. The power will certainly please you though from it’s Duracell-powered buzzing 6 cylinder. Who needs a V8 when you have a V8 sound coming through your speakers? Vroom vroom baby.
No chance you’ll ever get stuck in this beast either, the amazing turn radius is sure to prevent such a thing from happening. BUT by micro-chance you do get stuck, you can just pull yourself out using the foomanchoo grill -you know, since there isn’t any tow hooks up from to leverage. Least you can rest assure that you’re saving a lot of money over buying a Mercedes G Wagon. =]
The best truck ever. Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. 💪
    Gen Z approved.
    -Stay Untamed…

Everyone has an opinion….. my opinion price aside as I get that… this is a kick ass truck. I agree that it’s expensive that’s why I bought at the $55K level and got what I needed. Love this truck.I did have the 2007 prior and yes it turned better but I am now used to the turn radius and all is good. I have been following you for sometime and what I’ve noticed is at the end of the day you don’t like anything. You have has some awesome trucks then you find a reason to part.

I'm with you. I absolutely love the new one. On my second one actually as my 23 was totaled in a wreck. In a 24 now and these new trucks blow away the old gen in every category. I had an 08, 19 and 21 pro and my 24 limited is by far a better truck in every statistic. Not to mention it drives like a dream. 💪🏻

Think this might be one of the most honest reviews!!
Went to the dealer this weekend and was looking at the tundras. They felt really cheap. Window seals and chrome trim not lining up. Doors feel thin and flimsy.
My only regret was not buying the previous generation tundra. All the hype and excitement built up,only to get this.

Love the channel! Your reviews of the previous generation Tundra factored heavily into my decision to buy a 21 Tundra TRD Pro. In June, I paid approximately $4K more ($66K) than the previous owner paid when it was new, to have the 5.7 V8, instead of the new battery powered V6. It was worth every penny! I smile every time I make the payment.

Owned 4 Tundras and waited for a 24 on the new gen with all the complaints, hoping they worked some of the issues out. I love mine. It drives great and came in as a skeptic but I truly think the truck is better in every way. All makes are expensive, and if you think they don't have any issues lurk on some of the Chevy/GMC boards, they are riddled with problems, lifter issues etc.

I love my 24' Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Terra with 2k miles on it got for $72.5K....its got all the creature comforts, exterior lighting is great, love the infotainment center and like 7 cameras allowing you to park this thing on a dime. I drive 20K miles a year mostly on county roads and US Highways. The turn radius isn't great! If you know how to drive, the comparable reduced turn radius doesn't really matter if you do 99% of driving on pavement. I get compliments on my truck in stock appearance all the time! The interior lighting isn't great; however, the huge panoramic moonroof makes up for it in my opinion. The truck is no slouch and it's a Toyota who has been making reliable hybrids since forever, so this truck shouldn't be any exception to Toyota reliablity! 🤞🏾 The no recovery points kinda sucks, but I am planning to remedying that before too long just in case.

I paid MSRP 73.6k for a new Solar Octane 2023 TRD Pro and kept it for 4 months. I actually sold it back to the dealer for the same price I bought it at 73.6k. At the end of the day I had buyers remorse and felt I over paid even though I probably could have sold it on the private market for close to 80K. It is not worth 73-74k. Live and learn I guess.

If you use the vehicle as a truck for hauling and towing it's a night and day difference I had three previous generations and the new one is light years better in all of those categories.

    • @spinfish1434
      @spinfish1434 9 месяцев назад

@@OdysseyOffroad Main factors? Ok, well the New Gen falls short going to rear coil springs vs leaf springs, leaf springs are much sturdier, can handle higher loads with less deflection then coils, trucks with leaf springs are much easier to raise and lower. The Gen 3 is more likely to Squat with heavier loads making trailering heavy loads less stable. *Even in Toyota’s commercial you can see it squatting pulling a RV. Then there’s the additional 4’ you’ll need when turning tight in the new Gen. They’re close in payload with the new Gen edging out the Gen 2. You lose storage under the rear seat in the Hybrid. The fuel mileage sucks with both Generations, (Toyota had over a decade to really improve that and failed) but what’s really Proven is the 5.7L with a reliable 6 speed transmission. Those Turbos in the New Generation have already shown they can fail, furthermore to get the full power out of that v6/turbos the engine revs have to come way up whereas a naturally aspirated engine it’s not required, that v6 will be working much harder then the v8 causing more wear and heat. The driving experience is mute, it’s a truck. My 2010 still drives like new and I tow a 6500lb boat very often with no issues.. Enjoy your New Gen 3 but know that those with the 2nd Gen don’t have to turn up the speakers to hear a Fake v8 sound…

Not going to lie, I love my 2023 TRD PRO. I will also say it is costly. The sad reality is most cars utilize plastic and a lot of it. The negative I agree with is the turning radius isn't good. I am not a fan of the plastic front grill but it drives fantastic overall. I have taken it on a few long drives and feel it's very comfortable. Love the torque it gives, When I accelerate it goes..... I know a lot of folks prefer the V8 but for me, I don't care. The IMAX hybrid engine works and works well. I used to own a Tacoma which I loved and this blows it away. YES, the cost is questionable. On the same day I purchased the Tundra I looked at the Ford Bronco. The car salesman said right off the bat it's starting at $8000 over the sticker price. So i think everything costs more now. Overall I am happy.

I own a black 23 TRD pro Tundra, same as the one you had. What really got me wanting one was seeing yours with the 35" BFGs with white letters out 6--7 months ago. It really had "the look" that I wanted. That being said, I agree with a lot of what you said about it in this video. I bought mine brand new sight unseen at a dealer about an hour from my house. I checked with 2 local dealers previously and they had told me it would be about a year wait to get one (a TRD Pro), so when the one became available randomly at a small down dealer I jumped on it. I paid over MSRP, and like you have been underwhelmed ever since.
There are some things that I do like - Size, looks, seat comfort, smooth ride, decent MPG so far (17.7 through 5k mile), but there are several quirks about the Hybrid powertrain and poor fit and finish with the interior and easy to scratch paint that drive me nuts. Reliability, or lack there of, as I have seen on a few forums, as well as the things I mentioned above have me thinking I will likely not be keeping it beyond the warranty period, if I don't get rid of it before.
My previous truck, a 2011 Nissan Titan Pro-4x I still have with 118k miles on it. It has been a great truck overall, and was hoping this Tundra would have been one I would keep for the next 10+ years. I don't think that's the case anymore.

Best part about the truck is the frame and underpinnings.
    Same as land cruiser.
Problem land cruiser is expensive for a reason. Then stick a twin turbo hybrid v6( expensive) and 10 speed transmission( expensive)
They then have to save money somewhere.
So landcruiser with budget body/interior and still expensive.
The new smaller landcruiser will have the same issue as it impossible to keep a reasonable price point with that overbuilt structure.
Go look at the 70 series landcruiser sold in other countries, with the laughable interior from the 1980s but at least that old interior will hold up to use.
A long time Toyota person can immediately see the cheapness of the tundra interior.
Tundra appears to be just a kick the ball down the road model and at some point will disappear completely.
This is a shame because Toyota had the opportunity to reset the 1/2 ton truck market with essentially more emphasis on basic models and simplicity.
But look at how many upper spec trims they have.
    Limited
    Platinum
    1794
Capstone( now that is the worst truck)
These are trucks, what is it with the luxury obsession.
To the point that people who want a truck can’t afford a truck.
I will add that there is real quality in this truck but it is in a place that won’t be appreciated by most buyers.

I go to the mountains a lot and when I’m lazy or in a hurry, I just sleep there. The one thing I forgot to mention is came with remote start (I’m OG and this is my first remote start lol). Also, one thing I never noticed until recently when I washed my truck, is the front bumper is curved (below fog lights) to allow for better off-roading etc.

@@isi12345 I’ve been thinking about the back row floor as well. If we travel, the dog’s bed goes behind the driver’s side on the floor. The Tundra not only has the hump, it also has the batteries or that non remove-able storage thing under the seat. Not leaving much room. Good points, thanks!

I'm surprised by all the comments here praising for 'keeping it real', all you did was maintain a negative tone and spoke to one quantitative flaw, the turn radius. I'll agree that the false noise is silly, I turned it off. All new trucks are more expensive than they used to be, they all have plastic in the interior and have since they started putting plastic in interiors. The V6 turbo has nothing to do with the environment and was chosen to create that "pep" you mentioned in the beginning.

Someone seem little bitter about this truck. I have seen many RUclips reviews by reputable people about this truck and this review by far most biased with personal opinions. Given that it's a RUclips channel that contents created by an individual so creating content with personal opinion is understandable. However, when there are so many other sites review the same car, this review comes distinctively very far off. Not sure if they even do research on this car.
Side note: I have white 2024 TRD Pro. Came from Ford Raptor and bought this one. Day to day it's perfect truck. I don't pretend I am some sort of hard core Australian outback explorer type. Most of people they will drive it on city streets practically full time. It serves its purpose just right. It can be parked on most of parking spots. Has good pick up and cruise capability. Good storage. Looks awesome. Turning radius good enough if I can go in and out of drive through. I really don't have any complaints and I get a lot of compliments. Anyone considering truck, I recommend it.

I appreciate honest reviews like this, and constructive criticisms are definitely needed to keep moving the needle forward. I would just like to share my view of the new powertrain. I own a '23 Sequoia trd pro, the gas mileage definitely can be better with a TTV6 hybrid, I'm averaging around 16 mpg combined with a lift and 35" KO2s. But what actually pushed me away from the previous gen tundra was the 5.7 V8, I was just not impressed with the power to fuel consumption ratio. In fact, I was looking into an F250 diesel instead at the time.
I saw the battery pack and solid rear suspension as pro as a reasonable sacrifice for cargo space. Time will tell the reliability of the powertrain as a whole. I'm about 9 months in and we're doing alright, no recalls or issues whatsoever. Thanks again for your honesty.
