Wow that is crazy power. Shame about the weather, be interested to see what it was like on the pilot sport 4S in that weather. My brain's been hacked by your videos to say 'Grrr Yaris' every time I see one - which is a number that's higher than I expected. It sounded terrifying on the dyno but has been giving me Gran Turismo vibes with that gearbox. I've never driven a Yaris, but it looks like it would be fun - so long as I avoid ending up with the car on its roof in a ditch, which from the looks of things, could probably happen without too much effort.
That is some big money there, spent on the car. Especially the air filter is worth over £1000. If you read up on the engine it is built so well! It is a bullet proof I know I have the Litchfield edition! That's 307bhp...
The GR Yaris is the spiritual successor to the original Nissan Pulsar GTiR of which I had a 1 bar of boost example with a proven 280hp. I miss it so much, but they are very old cars now. A new Yaris would hit the spot for sure.
@@yesnomaybe3372 Obviously its not a Nissan, but the Yaris and Pulsar are extremely similar. Both homologation specials, built for rallying. Both small hatchbacks with AWD and small but mighty power plants that can be easily tuned for more power.

What a car, I always wanted to build a car with a suqential box but never got round to it, closest I got was my 981 Cayman S where COBB changed the gearstick around so it was correct for sequential.

From an engineering perspective getting that amount of power out of that little engine and getting it to actually be drivable is incredible but - and I think this is a sign of me getting old - I struggle to understand the point of it all really.
Glad he survived that road - almost killed my brother when he came off one of those bends 30 years ago. Car was a complete right off, every panel major damage, the cop who attended had never seen anyone survive such a bad accident - my brother was completely unscathed.
I've arrived at the conclusion in recent years that spending 'serious' money on a car to drive and park on UK roads and driving conditions just isn't worth it any more. Roads are too cramped, too much traffic, terrible road surfaces, bad weather for most of the year, other people can't drive/park, car theft is out of control and the jealous/bitter attitude of a lot of people in these difficult economic times (and environmental climate panic) means I wouldn't leave an expensive car parked unattended for too long unless you enjoy it being vandalised. Owning an expensive car in the UK has become a constant state of paranoia and worry to the point I can't honestly say I enjoy it any more. I say all that because I have arrived at the conclusion that the GR Yaris is genuinely the perfect car for me now, and I'll be swapping my current car (3x the price and German) for one very shortly. It ticks every box, it's a magic little thing and such a throwback to rally-inspired performance cars before everyone became obsessed with Nurburgring lap times. I'm lucky to have had one of these as a company car prior to any customer deliveries. Such a special little car 🥰
New set of tires every month! Love it!
Yet again, a class review of an unusual car. This is the best tv car show (not on tv) !
Mark, thank you sir
Not only are you olly’s made of steel, but they must be enormous!!!
That’s the best sounding GR Yaris I’ve heard.
Just round the corner from me. They have some lovely vehicles - and have done an amazing job on that yaris
That car is a local legend
That's a proper little beast, It's definitely on my list of future cars , love it 👌
Brilliant, have been looking forward to this!
If I ever buy a brand new GR Yaris I'll want all these mods done to it!!! I'll take it to this guy!!!!
You can only buy used. They aren't for sale anymore.
Damn!!! I’ll buy a BMW M2 with M sport body kit than.
@@Arfan7891 that was my other choice as well. Glad I went with the Yaris
#CornishPirateYaris
That is some big money there, spent on the car. Especially the air filter is worth over £1000.
If you read up on the engine it is built so well! It is a bullet proof
I know I have the Litchfield edition! That's 307bhp...
Ryan, cheers for the feedback.
@@TheLateBrakeShow no worries any time. Am looking in similar ways for something like this for my car.
You did really well, keep up the good work 👍
My whole car didn't cost much more than that. 🤣
The GR Yaris is the spiritual successor to the original Nissan Pulsar GTiR of which I had a 1 bar of boost example with a proven 280hp. I miss it so much, but they are very old cars now. A new Yaris would hit the spot for sure.
Celica gt-four or Corolla gt-four. Nothing Nissan here.
@@yesnomaybe3372 Obviously its not a Nissan, but the Yaris and Pulsar are extremely similar. Both homologation specials, built for rallying. Both small hatchbacks with AWD and small but mighty power plants that can be easily tuned for more power.
@@ArcofZen Celica GT-Four
@@yesnomaybe3372 Celica GT-Four (used to own one) is not a hatchback!
What a motor. The owner may have spent big money but it's apparent. The finish and quality looks top drawer. I love the plate too 😂
Best sounding Yaris I've heard
The weather doesn't make for great driving conditions, but it makes up for it in sexy production value.
It's a lot of money to throw at a Yaris GR! Money he'll never see back! But hat's off to him for doing it! 👌
I'd really like to know the 0-60 and the Quarter Mile! I mean it's basically sitting at a ratio of 1hp per 2Kg! 😮
It’s on draggy but launch still
Not 100% yet.
here this car sits at 1HP/2KG an d my Volvo back in the day was considered decent at 1HP/12KG for very different reasons, I'd be happy if my car were only 1HP/9KG it wouldldn't be faster just a little more efficient 👍
@@fletchersautos6629 Yeah the one on Dragy is a 100km-200km time though! There's is a Lamspeed Yaris out there doing 9's in the Quarter Mile @142mph!
@@fletchersautos6629 you don’t blink an eyelid on any shitty German car
@@S-T-E-V-E my 1/4 is on there to with no launch control, no drag tyres and on the street not on strip.
I like how the auto generated captions describe the car's sounds as music
What a car, I always wanted to build a car with a suqential box but never got round to it, closest I got was my 981 Cayman S where COBB changed the gearstick around so it was correct for sequential.
Amazing! God level tuning
Hope god can keep it together
That is an extraordinary amount of money to drop, but what a result. Huge numbers, yet still perfectly driveable. The other end of the scale is - my mother in law has a Yaris (not a GR, obvs); should I show her this video? Thanks Jonny and the Late Brake Show team for more great content 😍
One of our nicer days weather wise, here in Wales. Quite often that road you're on (A466) becomes part of the river Wye 😀
love the aesthetics of this GR looks like a pit bull 👌
This car is exactly the kind of hot hatch I was dreaming of throughout my teenage years..
Some PS4S tyres in those conditions would be mentally quick! What an absolute rocket! its new Starlet!
Just discovered this channel via this review & it's an awesome channel
Mark, welcome aboard TLBS!
Love the "rally spec" beanie hat 👍
I've got a GR and it's kinda slow, it must be tuned at least a little to be fun. Great car, just needs 50-100 more hp than stock.
From an engineering perspective getting that amount of power out of that little engine and getting it to actually be drivable is incredible but - and I think this is a sign of me getting old - I struggle to understand the point of it all really.
Fantastic car, such a great episode Jonny 🖤
Cheers!
Glad he survived that road - almost killed my brother when he came off one of those bends 30 years ago. Car was a complete right off, every panel major damage, the cop who attended had never seen anyone survive such a bad accident - my brother was completely unscathed.
Bonkers - love it👍 Back in the days Group B was forbidden bc it's been too dangerous. Nowadays it's road legal 😂
Couldn't agree more, at 500bhp rally cars were getting out of hand now we have 7,8,900bhp Road cars like its normal 🫤
Wow,that gearbox and shifter is sick and twisted 🤘🔥🤠🇬🇧🙏
This is as great as a super tunes 2JZ in a Supra. Would love to see a rally-legend behind the wheel of this monster!
Sorry for the blurb, but just felt like sharing! Cheers to Toyota (and Jonny for the excellent content!).
Was the drive footage along the wye valley, Chepstow to tintern??? I know it is, love that road ragged it many a time in my 200sx s13, great memories. Good choice! Been following you probably the same amount of time Johnny, keep up the good work, it's been a pleasure watching your progress!!! Thank you for sharing 😊
Jonny Smith is the Crowded House of Motoring journalists. He always takes the weather with him! Awesome car though.
Ha! Choon
America needs the GR Yaris.
First you need to have corners.
And the UK needs the GR corolla lol, no.1 hatchback market in Europe and toyota don't sell it here 🫤
That thing looks so awesome. Would love to have one of these!
