Still another great video from you 👍 I remember the white 2011 SLK AMG you reviewed which blew me away with its astonishing good looks. Keep spreading the love ❤
@@ascelot second to non, ive sold lots of them and never had any problems with the roofs, and i was Sales Manager at Mercedes Benz when they first came out in late 96 great cars
I have a 2012 model and totaly love it.I live in Bayern Germany now and fully take advantage of the roof down from April till end of october. Parts are not too expensive either(well here in Germany)Only tip i can give is when there's a full cold winter keep the door mirrors out at all time instead of folding in when leaving the car as they tend to freeze ie damaging the motor and internal mechanism.I've experienced this problem and replaced the whole units so just worth mentioning.
@@BarrieCrampton no problem.Love your video and commentary on this car.I work for Audi in Ingolstadt(Bayern)and this car beats the Audi TT by far in styling.Lot of comments on the timing chain wearing out but honestly never heard of this problem here in Deutchland. These cars must be serviced once a year, that way normally no problems should occur!
I have a black r230 sl Nothing beats a Mercedes interior, dated yes, but they last. I am not surprised at Barry's find there are plenty of them out there. There mostly second cars and have been gently driven as Barry does. They have led a gentle life!
@@silentsupreme4874 My mileage certainly varies. I am 75 years old and I have no trouble getting in and out. Never had a problem with visibility either. Still loving it!
Thank you for this cool paced review ! This looks like such a lovely car, I’m debating between getting this or a CLK. Comfort wise the CLK seems to fit more what I’m looking for (although I don’t really need 4 seats), however the soft top makes me fear for its longevity and cost to replace, in the long run, so now I’m eyeing the SLK 😅
I've got a 350 and totally loved it was on the A12 and a Bentley come up i stuck with it we was both doing 120mph the Bentley slowdown on the bends well it does way about 2 tonne where as the quicker I go the more it hunkers down jaguar F-Type
Very early models like this had timing chain and balancer shaft problems that wrote off many engines across the range because of the poor components used, absolutely horrendous build quality for a so-say luxury brand. I wouldn't touch one of these with a fifty foot barge pole.

Jason Crook really, does an ST have an electric roof which stows away at the touch of a button? Because me and dead owls dont really give a hoot about horsepower 😎
Barrie Crampton yes I agree it looks the dogs bollocks , but it’s far from even coming close to a sports car , my mum (76 years old) has one and loves it , I drive it and I think the hand breaks stuck on , every one to there own bud and no disrespect. We all enjoy our rides for our own reasons , and don’t forget you need another car for when we get a flutter of snow , if you own one you know what I mean. Respect my friend 👊
It wouldn't be for me and you but old man that's plenty of power look at all rest the car. I hate Mercedes Porsche Tesla OwnersWho drive below the speed limit.
The dramatic intro music / initial shots of pedestrian pace driving make for the most entertaining start to a car review on RUclips! Great job! 😂
And yet its got 50,000 more views than your video of a Ferrari accelerating like you are trying to blow it up, go figure 😂
@@BarrieCrampton i dont think it was an insult lol

Gorgeous outside dated interior, still better looking than the latest model
It really is!
@@BarrieCrampton How is the reliability of these both mechanical and electrics? (including roof)

Just bought one of these. I love it!
It's just a pain to get in and out
Also the windshield is the size of a mouse hole

Pity the boys in blue didn't catch you
I am a bit curious how does the audio system work.
Barrie are they easy to get in and out of, am in my 50s?
reasonably, but if you are over 6ft, they are a bit cramped
Yes just bit lower than normal
Your videos are really good, thank you
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the video. Very informative. Is the car good for tall drivers ? (1m90)
I cant really get far enough away from the steering wheel to feel comfortable, but as people never stop pointing out i do sit a long way back
Merci
What's it like for motorway driving or long journeys
its great, no problems, nice and comfortable
Very very nice👍
R171 - best looking SLK
Front bonnet looks like airoplane engine on wing👍🏁
Barrie would you still rate the Kompressor as a good reliable car to drive.
I would like to buy one but I’m 1,95m, do you think it’s possible ?
yep, take one for a drive and see if you are comfortable

Sorry bud but 184 hp is not impressive, for five grand you can buy a standard focus ST with 225 hp , mods and remapping, 400 hp is posable
