This is probably the most intriguing anime of the season for me. It's doing a great job of telling a good mystery and keeps you thinking and looking out for clues each episode. So far, so good. I will say, at least with this show, Disney is releasing it week-to-week for everyone to watch, unlike with Summertime Rendering where they had the rights to it and just decided not to air it overseas until several months after the series finished. Still haven't forgiven them for that. Glad fansubbers still exist.
For those who are in interested reading along with the original Heavenly Delusion manga, this episode adapted the remainder of chapter 10 (the latter 18/32 pages), all of chapter 11, the first 23 pages of chapter 12 (23/28 pages), and the second half of chapter 13 (16/32 pages). This is equivalent to about ~2.88 chapters worth of manga adapted for episode 4. If anyone is confused to why Kiruko said they were out of ammo/battery after only firing one shot of the Kiru-Beam during the fight with the fish-like Man-Eater (and the gun’s battery had been presumably fully recharged at the inn in episode 2), this is due to the anime abridging the fight with the fish-like Man-Eater somewhat. In the manga’s version of the fight, after Kiruko first shot at the fish-like Man-Eater, their next strategy was to shoot the Man-Eater with a succession of rapid-fire shots (which used up the remaining 2-3 shots of the Kiru-Beam), which actually did result in the piercing of the Man-Eater’s protective film/suit of water and blew a hole through its side (though it wasn’t enough to take it out of commission). Basically the anime accidentally made one of its lines of dialogue seem like a plot-hole/inconsistency due to the cutting of that scene from the manga. And for anyone still confused, “Tomato Heaven” refers to the commune/farm that the marijuana was grown at and shipped from. It was called “Tomato Heaven” in the past because the first main crop the farm grew (before they diversified) was tomatoes. The facility where Tokio and the other weird kids are located at is still currently unnamed in the anime. In addition to the facility’s video surveillance cameras being unable to see Tokio and/or Kuku (for some reason) whenever the cameras were directed at them, those with an eye for detail may have noticed that the surveillance footage date (stamped over the lower-right-hand corner of the video footage) during this episode said t17/07/01, while back in episode 2 the surveillance footage date was t17/06/23. This evidence tells us that the facility most likely uses a YY/MM/DD dating format for its surveillance system, with “t17” likely being some type of unique calendar year dating system. Also if anyone is confused as to why Tokio and Kuku weren’t discovered, the alarm that went off was saying that there was an intruder inside “The Sanctum” (the room where The Director and the A.I./robot “Mina” were located in). Because the alarm went off, it actually locked-down access to “Incubator Room 1” (which is the room that Tokio and Kuku were in to see “the babies”), and that lock-down actually prevented the pudgy glasses-wearing facility staff guy from entering said Incubator Room and discovering Tokio still in it. Basically the alarm going off actually gave Tokio and Kuku time to escape without being detected by the staff. And if anyone needs a refresher on the facility kids’ ages, the approximate ages of Tokio, Shiro (the white-silver haired teen who was sent the nude photo), Mimihime (the subject of said photo), Taka (the super strong/durable kid), and Anzu (the black haired girl often seen with Taka) are all 14 years old. The approximate ages of Nanaki & Iwa (the two kissing girls), Kuku (the frog-like girl) and Tarao (the sick kid) are all 10 years old. And Kona’s (the kid who draws strange drawings) approximate age is 17 years old. And if anyone is interested in starting the manga after this season is finished (it is currently planned to adapt up to some part of tankōbon Volume 6 of the manga), I personally would still recommend starting the manga from the beginning regardless, as in addition to the standard cutting of extra dialogue and scenes from the anime for run-time and cinematic pacing, the chapter titles and cover pages of the manga also play a role in experiencing the foreshadowing of the story that the anime can’t quite replicate (due to the inherent difference in mediums). The mangaka of Heavenly Delusion, Masakazu Ishiguro (who is active on Twitter), their most well known previous work is “And Yet the Town Moves” (also known as Soremachi), which was serialized from 2005-2016. They have also done a number of other single volume manga and short stories collections. Ishiguro's has also stated that the major influences for the Heavenly Delusion series, include the works Akira, Armored Trooper Votoms, and an old Japanese science-fiction novel titled "Dogra Magra" that was written Kyūsaku Yumeno (who appears as a character in Bungo Stray Dogs) and published in 1935. And the series has been deliberately presenting Tokio's gender/sex as ambiguous/vague (and definitely intended for the audience to initially assume that Tokio is a boy). This is one of those things where the intentional ambiguity it is more obvious in Japanese, as Tokio (and many of the facility kids in general) refer to themselves with the Japanese first-person pronoun "boku", which is a typical masculine pronoun that boys and young men largely use. And Tokio is addressed as "Tokio-kun", the "kun" honorific in Japanese, while not used exclusively for males, is viewed as a more masculine honorific than "san" and "chan". Because the manga didn't have voice acting, it was easier for the story to initially lead the audience in assuming Tokio was a boy for a couple of volumes, but the anime has a bigger challenge in doing that due to the voice acting being present. So Roshi and co. thinking Tokio was a boy at this point in the story is actually how the story was originally supposed to be experienced for audiences when the manga was first coming out.
You, my good sir, are a godsend😭🙏, your comments help soooo much😁👍...altho' Tokio not being vissible on the cameras still intrigues me🧐, if you know why, could you possibly explain? I dont mind it if its a small spoiler btw😳🙏😛
@@Minej_Mosuris you might be surprised to hear this but the “why” of the camera thing still hasn’t been fully explained even in the manga yet. We do know it’s not Tokio having the ability to turn invisible, because if it was just Tokio being invisible, the little wall-climbing roomba-bot that Tokio was perching on to go up the wall would have still shown up (as well as Kuku holding the vent-grate open, and both times Kuku had to reach out to pull Tokio up into the vents). So by process of elimination, that means the surveillance footage was being directly manipulated/edited. We still don’t know who did it or why (even in the manga), but most people (like many anime watchers after this episode) suspect it to be the work of Mina (the pregnant-looking robot A.I. thing that apparently is part of/helps run the facility). And people also speculate that Tokio’s glitched pop-quiz question (“the outside of the outside” thing from episode 1) and Shiro (the white-haired horny kid) receiving the nude photo of Mimihime, were also due to Mina’s machinations.
Can't be a coincidence that the blue circles on the "baby" faces look like markings the man-eaters have right? I'm an anime only so plz no spoilers its just my theory 🤣
How tho? The people in the outside literally has an identical clone to one of the main characters inside the complex? One of them has been mined swap has another body, and they're capable of completely killing man-eaters unlike other people, and it's implied that man-eaters come from the complex, they all seemed pretty important to the story so I don't know why you want to write them off.
Nah it would throw off the pacing a bit. I like it when they casually flip through the perspective of the children in the facility and the two kids outside of it
kona draw a fish with hands the girl show the fish hands and the girl said she want to show the drawing to the principal and now they fighting a fish with hands
Each episode leaving me with more questions than the last, but I feel like these kids are an experiment. Kinda like just raising them like cattle as they wish and then brain swap with the aliens or some shit. Too many theories but I love when a show makes me think deeper
I think all the weird shit that's happened, starting from the first episode when Tokio got that cryptic message "Do you want to go outside of the outside?", is that AI computer system that we met this episode called Mina. I think it's sentient and manipulating the kids somehow, pushing them toward something and helping how it can, hence why they couldn't be seen on the camera; Mina edited the footage. Mina also probably sent that horny-ass picture to Mob Psycho kid, which is why Mimihime had no idea what he was talking about.
Let's take the clone theory, then we have these faceless baby creatures and every kid is a meta human. So every kid in this facility was once that creature that were created with DNA from other people. Are they half-human half-man eaters?
I think they’re breeding the monsters to kill the people on the outside so that they can build a new civilization of people who have superhuman abilities. Maru who is able to kill the man eaters must be connected to the other kids. I think that they have super human abilities because the camera couldn't see Tokio because she probably turned invisible or something, and Kuku who can climb walls is like a frog.
Again, i dont think the girl can turn invisible and the camera cant pick it up. I think the talking AI is purposely doing it without the director knowledge. I mean, it was pretty obvious that the AI was lying to the director about not knowing about the intruder and the alarm system in that facility. I havent read the manga but i did spoiled myself about that one scene in chp 32 in the manga. Again, I think the AI wanted this to happen. Just like David from the movie Prometheus where he wanted to create life with his own hand and become "god". The AI may already went rogue and started doing its own thing in secret
Getting clapped on thinking Tokio was a boy, and the camera too. The vent was wide open with that frog girl, and Tokio climbing up but on the camera the vent was closed. She isn't invisible, someone manipulating the cameras. My theory is it that big mama.
With the way these kids seem to have links to the man eaters I am wondering if it is a coincidence that they showed that the girl can climb up walls in a similar way to the fish maneater that was killed this episode.
It's so fun to see all the theories you guys make knowing all (or at least a lot of) the answers, but it's equally just as painful too knowing the answers
Shira missing a big possibility you’ve seen these people have power what if that girl has a premonition power to see the future or glimpse into it and that’s why she knows about the two coming from the outside I think the timelines are in the same time I think she can just see ahead kinda like how she knew there would be a test on the first episode I think the doc probably also worked for that organization that’s probably how he out there making meta humans in the outside
Hey guys, I have a pretty crazy theory about all of this: maybe this is the place where the Collapse happened, maybe this facility is where these people were making experiments trying to create super humans and then something went wrong and the man eaters were created instead and the Collapse happened in the world. That could very well be it.
Bruh the 1st camera scene showed the vent opened when they panned to them and the vent closed on the livefeed. Meaning it ain't Tokio going invisible, someone messing with the livefeed.
Theory's the giant robot lady probably helping the kids out that's why none of the camers caught sight of them sneaking around maybe she wants them to explore their human emotions and urges.
@@Ash_Wen-li He still wouldn't know the names for love or kissing, and if the older kids are aware, the concept wouldn't be foreign to the younger kids
For each the episodes with the featured monster the prominent central character is their former selves. The bird monster the central character was taka who keeps on showcasing his talents
Kiruko dropped the yōkan because Maru made a bad pun. “Yō kan de taberu” (make sure you chew well as you eat it). I thought the translator did a great job of trying to convey the pun as the subs read something like, “you can eat it…(something),” but I guess it still might have flown over some people’s heads. I think that it may be Tokio’s power to hide from the surveillance cameras. I was wondering why he/she was making that strange pose, it seemed to make sense as the camera couldn’t pick him/her up earlier when he/she was climbing the wall. And I think Tokio may be a girl too… that character has very girlish features despite the male name.
@@raec5426 true, cuz we saw Tokio get the ball in an earlier episode and we could see her just fine, so its not that shes invisible to cameras, and also if she has powers, i doubt she knows how to use them.
I don't know why everyone seems to think that Tokio has invisibility. The cleaning robot she's standing on is not seen and the open vent with Kuku is also shown as shut.
He fish monster Kona drew was the man eater Kiruko and Maru fought on the boat. Pretty cool, and also makes the timeline of the separate characters connect.
i'm convinced the school and the story of the dude and the dude in his sisters body are happening at the same time. They're different characters. I think.
With that different timeline theory you guys had, it makes me wonder if the kid doing the drawings could be the doctor with ambitions to make his drawings a reality in what we're assuming is present-day with the maneaters. Same color hair and both are odd from what we've seen.
yeah you guys are kinda dumb with this episode lol but it's fine we're all dumb at some point. Like... it's obviously the camera not working correctly, not her being invisible. The baby knowing tokio's name is a problem because now they'll now dans she came in this room, this and the shoe mark on the wall. "Mina" the AI thing is probably intentionally letting the kids do things they should'nt, like showing them how to kiss, sending nudes pictures, asking tokio if she want to get out in the middle of the exam, etc.
Hmmmm what if the time line is running simultaneously? There is that time theory, where the past, present and future is happening all at the same time. It could be something similar to the movie “your name” maybe 🤔 just a thought! Great reaction !! Love hearing you guys theory because I’m utterly confused 🤣🤣🤣
Something I found strange is that the girl in the facility has sticky hands like the fish man eater, and the other girl is 'invisible' like the man eater that appeared at the race.
Agreed with the fish, but tokio isn't invisible. Atleast we haven't seen evidence of that if she does have that power. The camera feeds were looped, the vents were closed, and the robots didn't appear on them. Mina or someone from the faculty is helping them
I'm trying not to even theorize with this show aside from the younger brother being literally inside the sister because this show barely gives anything to work with yet lmao
Guys, when we finally get to see Robin, the guy Kiruko trying to find. Please refer to him as Rapist Robin. I hope we can make it a trend because he deserve it. I havent read the manga btw.
My theory is that Maru and the girl who died came from that "school" too and the girl took Maru when he was a baby or when he was really small because she realized what his power is but Maru doesn't remember all of that happening because of how young he was. This would explain why Maru has the power to kill the man eaters (and why he has powers like the other kids when he was not raised there) and why the girl had the same illness that Tarao has. I don't mind spoilers so manga readers feel free to correct me if this was already revealed in the manga but please spoiler tag it so other people don't get spoiled by it.
I had the same thought. I figure she left as soon as she realized she was infected, probably wanted to avoid being tested on, and also probably realized the dangers and true intentions behind it all. Could have been a scientist, or an early expirement before the disaster struck (The facility could have existed before the disaster, and accidentally caused it)
I'm actually watching the show episodes alone and the watching your reaction I usually don't watch the shows but this show is amazing so far I had to watch it
Wait hold on I just realized something. If the facility never taught these kids anything about romance and sex, then how did Kona know about that stuff. Sure he's older than most of them, but if the facility is teaching all these kids the same thing then how does he know about humans naturally having intimate feelings? Did he learned it from somewhere else? Maybe from his drawing powers? Or is he just stating something that he believes in since he also feels romantic feelings and just assumes that's what everyone else also feels? Or am I just reading into it too deeply?
My whole theory is now in the trash after finding out Tokio is a girl 🥲

Bro, so far this anime is on track to become one of my personal favorites, I look forward to it so much every single week
I prefer it to Hell's Paradise so far
This episode really drew me into the show, i was still on edge about whether or not the storyline would be for me but, I'm invested now!
Maybe the sick kid will turn into a man eater because he's a reject
What in the Epstein island transhumanism research craziness is this show
If u guys didnt notice that big pregnant robot messed with the cameras cause everytime they showed it the were not there.
Tbh I thought that might be tokio's ability since we haven't seen it yet. But Mina doing it probably makes more sense
Bro the fictional world is literally the only place marijuana could actually save the people😆
Getting clapped on thinking Tokio was a boy, and the camera too.
Tell me nothing, but if i had to guess the institute with the children is pre-apocalypse and it's where the problems started.
This is a wild anime. Throwing curve balls left and right. I don't know what's going on and I've been watching every episode with you guys. 🤣
This ep is about everybody unconsciously always wanted the yams.
It's so good that it's got you thinking what you're saying at the end at this point
the security system went off to keep the doctor from going into the incubation room
Theory's the giant robot lady probably helping the kids out that's why none of the camers caught sight of them sneaking around maybe she wants them to explore their human emotions and urges.
I don't think the kids at school have proper s*x education, but Kona seems to have some knowledge about love and s*x for some reason.
I think he's just older
@@Ash_Wen-li He still wouldn't know the names for love or kissing, and if the older kids are aware, the concept wouldn't be foreign to the younger kids
I thought Tokio was a boy aswell lol. I only just figured it out thanks to Mr Editor showing the tweet on screen😂
I always love it when this 👏 is showing on screen... It's freaking hilarious
For each the episodes with the featured monster the prominent central character is their former selves. The bird monster the central character was taka who keeps on showcasing his talents
nah bro, editor Goated for adding that "welcome to jamrock" snippit.
What in the Evangelion is happening 💀
Tokio is female. It's also likely Mina the AI thing, is hiding them on the camera and not power related.
@@raec5426 true, cuz we saw Tokio get the ball in an earlier episode and we could see her just fine, so its not that shes invisible to cameras, and also if she has powers, i doubt she knows how to use them.
She made the strange pose because she was trying to climb up then realized if they see her reaching up they will notice the frog girl
I don't know why everyone seems to think that Tokio has invisibility. The cleaning robot she's standing on is not seen and the open vent with Kuku is also shown as shut.
@10:40 "It's a rocket ship!"
I almost pissed myself laughing!
This anime with the school part gave me massive Darling in the Franxx vibe.
Not promised neverland vibes? Lol
The Maru-Touch comes in clutch
11:28 bro that shit got me screaming 😂😂 yall really didn't know 💀
This anime has so much setup and will have an amazing payoff to show for it. Keep theorising, it makes the experience more enjoyable.
That fish gone wake up high and eat all them vegetables cause of that box of💨😭😭
If you look carefully underneath that goofy drawing bird is another logo. Somebody might have covered it.
lupasan's "wait what?" can be made into a killer meme
He fish monster Kona drew was the man eater Kiruko and Maru fought on the boat. Pretty cool, and also makes the timeline of the separate characters connect.
i love seeing all the different speculations. i powered through the manga, so i missed all the talking about what's happening in the beginning parts.
Lupa : how can I reach you
Roshi : send a crow
🤣🤣 Yeaaahhh???
The comments didn’t need to clap them, sheera did
I like Sheera’s theories are so good. That really made sense to me…
Me in the post-apocolypse of the Walmart Wars: Can I stay at the inn for a night, I'll pay you in Straight Talk minutes cards.
This anime has been a pleasant surprise for me
Same
this eps actually titled KUKU and yeah it show us two side of kuku, the human form and.....
I lost my shit when I rewatched ep 1 dubbed in my language and found out that tokyo is a girl 😂😂
you have no idea how relieved i am to know that i wasn't the only one thinking that tokio was a boy -___-"
the security cameras have the date on them, the kids in the facility are in 2023, and the main duo are in like late 203X i think.
I swear the Robot in the facility is messin' with the adults.
i'm convinced the school and the story of the dude and the dude in his sisters body are happening at the same time. They're different characters. I think.
Heavenly Confusion
I noticed that funky looking fish looked like the one he drew. I wonder if that means he's been out in the real world before? Or maybe memories 🧐
With that different timeline theory you guys had, it makes me wonder if the kid doing the drawings could be the doctor with ambitions to make his drawings a reality in what we're assuming is present-day with the maneaters. Same color hair and both are odd from what we've seen.
@YaBoy_Roshi____ shut up bot
yeah you guys are kinda dumb with this episode lol but it's fine we're all dumb at some point. Like... it's obviously the camera not working correctly, not her being invisible.
Bro I also thought Tokio was a dude😂🤦♂️
The clap emoji 🤣
"Clapped in the comments" 😂😂😂 The editing kills me every video.
Sheera is more observative of the series the frog girl was holding the vent up so yea she was also invisible for some reason
The "clapped in the comments" shirt lmaoooooo gotta buy that
That "wait WHAT!?" Had me dead haha
Oof
Something I found strange is that the girl in the facility has sticky hands like the fish man eater, and the other girl is 'invisible' like the man eater that appeared at the race.
Agreed with the fish, but tokio isn't invisible. Atleast we haven't seen evidence of that if she does have that power. The camera feeds were looped, the vents were closed, and the robots didn't appear on them. Mina or someone from the faculty is helping them
The blonde kid being a girl was such a plot twist to me lmfao i think it took me even longer to realize
5:37 IS DAT GRASS????
The Za🍃 smoked the man-eater that's crazy😂
I'm trying not to even theorize with this show aside from the younger brother being literally inside the sister because this show barely gives anything to work with yet lmao
Guys, when we finally get to see Robin, the guy Kiruko trying to find. Please refer to him as Rapist Robin. I hope we can make it a trend because he deserve it. I havent read the manga btw.
The clap emoji sent me jhhhghbhh😂😂😂
Caught in 4k ,clapped back to back 🤣🤣❤
its so funny how much this show can drive discussion ahaha
Could have been a scientist, or an early expirement before the disaster struck (The facility could have existed before the disaster, and accidentally caused it)
I'm actually watching the show episodes alone and the watching your reaction I usually don't watch the shows but this show is amazing so far I had to watch it
WHAT IF... that girl that had that dream.... what if her powers are psychic abilities and she was seeing the future!?
The clapped moment is gold
I had a feeling she was a girl because of the eyelashes and the voice.
I'm honestly shocked at how many reactors seem to think Tokio is a guy. She gives of femine energy and even that name is usually for girls
Plus, she _sounds_ like a girl.
I love clap emoji near roshi
Wait hold on I just realized something. If the facility never taught these kids anything about romance and sex, then how did Kona know about that stuff. Sure he's older than most of them, but if the facility is teaching all these kids the same thing then how does he know about humans naturally having intimate feelings? Did he learned it from somewhere else? Maybe from his drawing powers? Or is he just stating something that he believes in since he also feels romantic feelings and just assumes that's what everyone else also feels? Or am I just reading into it too deeply?
I cant with lupa 🤣🤣🤣hes too funny 11:26
To be fair, I saw a lot of comments on the anime of people calling the scene with Tokio and the artist dude gay because they thought Tokio was a boy
Dry mouth hit that fish fast 😭😭
Fish man got hit with a Waka Flaka loud pack OD rip 🙏🏼
This anime is gonna go under the radar isn't it? This anime is good.
wait kona draw a fish with hands and now they fighting a fish with hands
also kuku said she wants to show it to the principal
You and sheera gotta watch oregairu next
3:44 I deadass though it was a dude too
Oops...
The facility is giving me The Giver vibes.
11:26 😂 😂 😂 😂
I get it now so the boy that nows how to draw is the doctor and maru was the the baby and he sent to find his original
