I don't live in the US, so 2 weeks ago I went to a Premium Reseller here, and bought a new M2 iPad Pro for about $100 more than a new iPad Air. Yea, it's 18 months old and more expensive than the new Air, but I already have the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2, so that + the 2 extra speakers, the better screen, the extra GPU Core, the Thunderbolt connection, among other things, made me think that that extra money was worth paying.
Long story short: I went for the M2 IPad Pro. Got a great deal on the 512gb version and the M4 just wasn’t worth it in my opinion. The M2 Air would be nice but I work a lot with external SSD’s so the Thunderbolt connector on the M2 Pro would be the logical way to go. I’m reacting on RUclips for the first time on the M2 pro. I got a Logitech combo keyboard with it and it’s just brilliant!
Hello guys. Please help to decide wich is better if I need better battery life? I don’t want to charge it “continuously.” Pro will have better battery drain because of another dislay technology?
I got a brand new iPad Pro M2. It cost me £100 more than the iPad Air M2 which I’m very happy with because of the superior speakers and screen. So pleased you came to the same conclusion!
@@rickiehoxton I am loving my M2 iPad Pro. I already had a Magic Keyboard and a pencil so this was logical and the screen is so much better and everything better for $100 more…. Perfect
Camera placement is not an issue for me. I don’t get my feels hurt because I have to place it vertical to do video calls. Man there are so many first world problems that make me laugh.
The regular iPad air is just fine for regular users and a great companion to a macbook and iPhone. The iPad Pro m4 has the best hardware with mediocre software that limits the experience.
What y'all suggest for a first time ipad user? I also find it hard to find a good deal for an m2 pro and I'm also wondering if it's worth spending more for an old gen ipad
I think it depends on what you want and need. The new Pencil Pro has some great features that can make things like digital art more efficient and better. And honestly, it's not that noticeable to not have promotion for digital art. I have the M2 Pro, and I'm honestly considering getting the M2 Air as an "upgrade" because the Pencil Pro can improve my workflow and is worth the price of the Air. The M4 on the other hand is too expensive and makes that upgrade no longer worth it. But also, in general, even if you aren't a digital artist, do you need all those other bells and whistles of the Pro like louder speakers and pro motion for the extra charge? Performance-wise the Air is basically just as good, and there aren't any apps outside of very specific creative programs that you would ever see a difference in. So the only time I would recommend the M2 Pro over the Air would be if you can get the M2 Pro on sale for the same price or less than the Air. Otherwise, unless you've already used the Pro, you won't miss anything.
@@Razyrspeedz Not obviously. They both have their advantages. The M2 Pro has a better display and speakers and ever so slightly chip. The M2 Air is a bit more future proofed with the new Pencil Pro. If you don't already have the Pencil 2, I think going for the M2 Air makes sense because going forward Apple isn't likely to change the Pencil design again for several years. Once the Mini 7 comes out, I wouldn't doubt if it supports the Pencil Pro and the Pencil 2 eventually gets discontinued. Not to mention that, while yes, the M2 Pro has better specs, in actual practice, there is not a single app out there that you'll notice a difference in performance between it and the M2 Air. The Air is more than capable of handling everything iPadOS supports. And lastly, buying a new M2 Air gets you a 1 year warranty minimum. Buying a used M2 Pro gets you no support. With the Pro you're getting slightly better on paper, but not much better real world performance. With the Air you're getting longer support for the device and for the Pencil. But even with all of those advantages for the Air, I still said I would recommend the M2 Pro over the Air if it were the same price. I personally just wouldn't pay more for the M2 Pro over the Air now for all the reasons I just listed.
@zendragon6 there is a difference. Because of the air being capped at 60 fps you can't get the true performance of the m2 chip, and when watching videos the ipad air forces it to 60 fps but the m2 pro adjusts the framerate to the original video to Save battery life. It can also play 120 fps in high demanding games because it can use the m2 chip to its full potential
@@Razyrspeedz like I said in my original statement. It depends on what you need. I personally don't game on my iPad because it's still just an iPad. There's a few games that are ok, but nothing I wouldn't rather play on a real OS built for games. But also, the Air can handle all of them. It's not like the games won't run well. And 60fps is not bad for mobile games. And it's definitely not bad for watching videos either. I like my M2 Pro. There's nothing wrong with it and it runs everything I need it to. But I'm primarily a digital artist, and so to me (once again pointing out it depends on your needs), the Pencil Pro offers some worthwhile features that could improve my workflow, and the processor and screen would not detract from my work in any way. I'm probably still not going to switch to the Air because I don't want to go through the hassle of selling my M2 and then buying the Air and Pencil Pro. But it's been tempting because I think it would be an overall improvement for how I use the iPad.
Which one has a better quality in photo? M2 Pro or M2 Air this will be for my Photo Booth looking for a high quality camera and it’s so hard to choose, what would you suggest? Thank you
everyone is saying air m2 for artists is better bc of the pro pencil but what if I already have apple pencil2 is it worth it to get air AND a new apple pencil
This comp has been in my mind for weeks. I got lucky getting iPad pro m2 256 11 inch @$650 at BJs. Now, BestBuy is selling the iPad lineup on sale for weeks. 120hz is noticeable. Liquid Retina XDR is only on the 12.9 version. Now, Im trying to decide whether to buy Zugu case or ESR Shift magnetic case or ESR combo keyboard case. If i didn't find the deal, I was thinking iPad Air pervious version at 399. It takes some getting used to. Overkill on gb but 128 gb version wasn't a great deal.
@srs3572 I was tempted by 12.9 m2 because of mini LED but then I went into Best Buy and saw it was hefty & had an unbalanced feel. Since I tend to use iPad on couch or bed, 11 inch iPad fits my use case. Right now, I’m testing out both iPad Air m1 & IPad Pro m2 on ESR keyboard case & ESR magnetic rebound case. Keyboard’s wifi connection is hit or miss. Rebound case is useful with so many useable positions to view both vertically & horizontally. I’m debating whether to return keyboard case but keep rebound case.
That's actually the only downside of the 12.9 pro but the camera is fine and have worked for several years. And u can also stand it up the it's full frontal. Many cases can swivle so that's all good. Get a zunga case and ur golden
I was pretty set on getting the new ipad air 12.9 inch as i've always wanted the bigger screen without having to purchase a pro model, so when the new air was announced I decided to trade in my old ipad air to buy the new one. I didn't however, due to the fact that my old apple pencil would then be completely obsolete, and by the time i'd got an equivalent M2 air with the new pencil, it would be an equivalent amount to the M2 pro which is a far superior tablet.
Buy the M2 Pro. The Air's 60Hz screen stutters horribly, and the difference in speaker quality between the Pro and the Air is overwhelming (the Pro 11 is better than the Air 13). Touch ID is very inconvenient on a large tablet, but with the Pro, you get Face ID that works from four directions. Additionally, the M2 Air has one fewer GPU core compared to the M2 Pro (Air: 9 cores, Pro: 10 cores), and the Pro supports Thunderbolt and USB4. The rear flash and LiDAR scanner are exclusive to the Pro. The Air's display bezel is thicker than the Pro's, and the device itself is unnecessarily thicker. Even accessories like the Magic Keyboard do not fit perfectly with the Air. Also, the Air does not support front-facing portrait photos. There is a significant difference in microphone quality as well (the Pro comes with studio-quality microphones). Just buy the Pro. The differences are too great. The only thing the Air does better is running the Apple Pencil Pro on its dreadful 60Hz fixed screen. Oh, and the Pro also comes with a dual-camera setup that includes an ultra-wide camera. Additionally, despite having the same M2 chip, the Air lacks the ProRes encoding and decoding engine. And the Pro's display is 100 nits brighter.
I was planning to get to ipad pro m2 but here in my country the price for ipad pro m2 is getting expensive. Like I was saving money, but the price from last month and now is already $70. And the 256gb version of iPad pro is somehow only $75 from the latest M4 ipad. Like make it make sense. Ipad air m2 and ipad pro M4 are getting the extra discounts while the pro m2's price is getting slightly higher.
At this point, buying an M4 IPad Pro with Magic Keyboard ins unnecessary. Apple baited many with online hype & rumors of Mac OS update for M1 that never happened.
