great water shot. ive said it before and ill say it again. best reviewer out there. nobody goes in to detail like you do man. thanks for the time and effort you put in to your vids.
Definitely will have to add these to my tackle box one can never have enough because for those tuff days you wanna use all kids of lures, swimbaits , jigs etc .... great video always great
Hey Carl, SWEET vid bro! I'm a huge fan of the DT series and and if the lakes I fish were a little clearer I would definitely pick a few of those up...who am I kidding I will probably still pick em up, lol
Wow I have to tell you this is one of the best fishing lure videos I have ever seen. You did a great job. I saw these at Wal Mart in the winter. I picked up a live pumpkinseed shad rap #5 for my local river where pumpkinseed are the main forage. It was late January and for the heck of it I thought I would try my new lure. The water temp had to be low to mid 40s. The winter has been pretty harsh. I was barely cranking the shad rap slow rolling it off the bottom. On the 5th or 6th cast I felt it get heavy and sure enough I had a 2 lb bass. I was immediately sold on the Live series. Anyway, awesome video.
+NJ Bassin' Hey NJ Bassin. I'm still working on the Spring wrap-up! Sorry for the crazy delay....been busy with things and I took a crazy amount of video to edit. Thanks for watching man and I'm doing my best to get those Swimbaiting Northeast vids out ASAP.
+Kevin Weber Hey Kevin, thanks for checking in. Yeah man....these are really awesome. I guess since its not a new lure it went kind of under the radar at ICAST, but I was really excited to see this advancement.
+Outcast's Outdoors Yeah, the larger models carry good heft to them. It would be nice if these smaller ones were a tad heavier. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey bud what kind of snaps do you use on these rapalas? Depending who you ask, some folks you tend to lose fish with them on... what's been your experience?
keepinitreel fishing, I was wondering what are your main places to fish in New Jersey because I live here in Nj and been going to same places and need new places. Can u recommend any?
+Keith Andreasen Keith - I fish mostly Sussex and Warren counties. The small places I don't name, but they are all public waters that are listed on NJ Fish and Wildlife's website of fishing locations. I really like both Splitrock Reservoir and Merrill Creek, although neither is particularly easy.
I love how you pronounce it like me. I've been patronized for not saying(Rap-uh-luh). I love the idea of these. Ime and imo lure colors/patterns are extremely overrated ......we humans over think things to the point of neurosis.....Lord knows I've thought myself almost to death. The truth is we have no real idea how important colors and patterns are, we don't know what they are thinking. I think vibrations and scent are most important. Don't let it go to your head, I watched your Tatula rod review the other day and know some others.......your awesome bro! Stay smart and humble..........keep up the good work.
+KeepinItReelFishin Carl thank you for answering me I love the colors just got them in the new colors in a DT 10 & 6 and I also have other colors of both
Excellent stuff as always. Interesting to compare these to the 33 Bluegill Lures review you previously posted. I would expect a perch finish for the SR7 would be very effective in cold water. I am a fan of the DT4 when fishing shallow, hard structure. BTW, what is your setup for the underwater footage? I find it very helpful to see the lures from the "fish eye" view.
+John Pendleton Hey John. Thank you as always. Rapala does have a "live" Perch finish. Some guy did a review on a pre-release version of the Shad Rap RS lure in it. www.canadian-sportfishing.com/rapala-rs-shad-rap-live-excellent-for-smallmouth-bass/ Maybe they canned that model or maybe it just isn't released yet cause I wanted to grab it as part of this review but couldn't find it anywhere. For underwater I use the Sony HDR-AS15 action cam (a few years old now), but the critical piece of equipment is the flat lens for it that they sell separately. There is a world of difference in underwater clarity between a rounded lens and a flat. Also, Sony actually has a setting on the camera for "water" that adjust white balance and color levels for that environment.
+KeepinItReelFishing Thanks for the quick reply. Good info regarding the underwater footage. I do not have any experience with that. Hope to change that in the coming year. Also, thanks for the link. I had not seem that review before.
Hey I love your videos man keep it up! BTW what would be better for catching big gamefish a Rapala Jointed Shad Rap in a Silver Shad color or a Rapala DT in LIVE Bluegill Color or a Rapala Ultra Light Crank, I can only get two crankbaits and i dont know what is better.
+GhettoBlaster1709 If the goal is larger fish I would advise getting the larger of the lures. Rapala makes a jointed BX minnow that is awesome! It is pretty big, swims great, is durable and beautiful. It is more money than the others you mentioned, but really a stand-out lure.
I've got DT 6s and DT 10s in these live colors, and oddly enough they don't produce for me like other traditional colors do. Like Perch/Yellow Perch, Silver, and some of the more muted IKE tones, like Smash, Old School, etc. I'm a really big fan of the IKE paint jobs on the DTs. The muted tones work great for whatever reason, even in my really clear New York lakes.
I never use snaps, but I've seen you use them more in your earlier videos. When I was a kid I had a fish break a snap off, so I've never trusted them after that. But I might try them. You seem to do well with them.
Just an awesome informative video. Very thorough and informative presenting the information. Would like to hear your results in your experiences if the realistic pattern made a difference over a typical rapala color such as a helsinki shad or an Ike color.
+jimbo jones Hey Jimbo - Honestly I did not put a ton of time into these guys this year. They were one of the few things I fished apart from large baits and swimbaits (I dedicated my year to that). I'm not a big believer in color making a huge difference, but I also think that mimicking the actual look of real forage can never be a bad thing.
+KeepinItReelFishing For me I've had success with changing up certain colors and firing up a school. Though I use color more depending on clarity of the water.
Helo sorry for the other two cuestions I love the video it was wrilly good like all of the oders You are my faborite fishing youtuber and i woud love to ask you some fishing cuestions. -I live in spain (thas whay my inglish is not so good) And in spain there ar not a lot of lakes and if thers any lake the bass wold by smoll so could you recomend my any smoll lures and shainy fore the turbe water and thad they can send them to spain. -could you do a video of web pages i think eberibudy will like it. Thanks a lot i hope you text my back/ i have sean all your videos and you are the best whit a big diference.
With the name of FishingTheGreatLakes I would assume that you've caught a smallmouth or two and would know what they look like. A smallmouth has verticle stripes on it's side, not horozontal.
Great Vid brother! I think I speak for the majority of your subscribers.....I hope anyway. I believe we are all interested on an update on how you are finding all those swimbait lures eg Swing Impact, Gantarel, Lucky Craft Real Bluegill, G2 etc etc that you did great previews/reviews on. Guys Like this comment and Vid if you agree! Thanks Carl
+Anthony C Thank you Anthony! I'm editing right now as I'm replying to you! Sorry about the delay....its been buggin me bad not having it out in a timely manner. I hope to have it up in a few days to a week at most. Thanks so much for the positive energy and your patience!
Why do crankbaits have a tapered end at the tail. I understand the biology of a fish, but it looks nothing like a fish when it's swimming through the water. Yet, it catches all KINDZ of fish.
+CatcherOfBass My guess is that the slim section has less resistance to the force of water passing over it. Almost like how a plane wing creates lift by air moving faster underneath vs slower over the top. The slim back section, coupled to the size and shape of the lip work together to achieve a particular amount of motion both in a rotational and horizontal plane of motion.
great water shot. ive said it before and ill say it again. best reviewer out there. nobody goes in to detail like you do man. thanks for the time and effort you put in to your vids.
+r6exrider I really appreciate that. Thank YOU for watching and taking the time to let me know.
Very cool review Carl. I'm gonna have to check some of these out. Thanks for the video.
+Flukemaster Thanks Gene. They are definitely sweet. Thanks for watching!
Definitely will have to add these to my tackle box one can never have enough because for those tuff days you wanna use all kids of lures, swimbaits , jigs etc .... great video always great

Wow! I am gonna try the Live pumpkin seed . I really like the look of it and think it will work for me here in Florida.
absolutely loving the channel, cant believe i just came across your channel!
+LadyBass Thanks so much LadyBass. Nice work on all those perch you caught on the ice!
+KeepinItReelFishing thanks for tuning in!
Are you gonna do a summer update on your swimbait fishing?
+NJ Bassin' Hey NJ Bassin. I'm still working on the Spring wrap-up! Sorry for the crazy delay....been busy with things and I took a crazy amount of video to edit. Thanks for watching man and I'm doing my best to get those Swimbaiting Northeast vids out ASAP.
Wow, I though that no other crank-bait could beat the live target patterns but I think rapala just did! Hope they release a perch version!
+WorldWide Fishing www.canadian-sportfishing.com/rapala-rs-shad-rap-live-excellent-for-smallmouth-bass/
great vid man! I didn't even know rapala had these new finishes coming out, gonna have to pick a few up now.
+Kevin Weber Hey Kevin, thanks for checking in. Yeah man....these are really awesome. I guess since its not a new lure it went kind of under the radar at ICAST, but I was really excited to see this advancement.
+KeepinItReelFishing yo what reel do you use these on
+Kyle Paine That was a Shimano Chronarch 201E7 with 12lb line.
+KeepinItReelFishing cool those reels are awsome thanks for answering
Rapala is a lure that's hard to beat, with realism like this you can't go wrong
When will these be coming out?
+_coach__Miguel_ These are available right now Miguel.
I just seen them thanks going to have to check them out
I'd like to see an oversized series of Rap balsa cranks for better casting ability. These look pretty cool. Thanks for keepin' us informed.
+Outcast's Outdoors Yeah, the larger models carry good heft to them. It would be nice if these smaller ones were a tad heavier. Thanks for watching and commenting!
What kind of connector were you using with them ?
+danyi2170 Norman Speed Clip
+KeepinItReelFishing Thanks

Carl what lure did that Bass hit was it the Live Bluegill?
+Don Nidiffer Hey Don - Yup....that one here in the video was on the Live Bluegill color.
+KeepinItReelFishin Carl thank you for answering me I love the colors just got them in the new colors in a DT 10 & 6 and I also have other colors of both

+vindzl07 Yes. The audio had some problems. It will be back up tonight.
Those crankbaits sure look real!!!! Might try it out sometime.

+ronald lukovich Hey Ronald - Yes, I had to re-do it due to the audio having issues. Uploading it back up right now.
Thought I was going crazy. I've been waiting on some more Vids from your little swimbait series. Great job, keepem coming.
rapala is definitely a brand I can get behind even as a trout guy these are going in my bag soon
I'm 36 years old, I've been a trout guy all my life. Their smaller jointed lures can produce serious trout.....period. I also LOVe the old school
Yes finally a new vid your awesome man keep it reel
Awesome video, very informative
wow..would love a few shad-rap smallmouth !
I love Rapala crank baits!
Helo sorry for the other two cuestions
I love the video it was wrilly good like all of the oders
You are my faborite fishing youtuber and i woud love to ask you some fishing cuestions.
-I live in spain (thas whay my inglish is not so good)
And in spain there ar not a lot of lakes and if thers any lake the bass wold by smoll so could you recomend my any smoll lures and shainy fore the turbe water and thad they can send them to spain.
-could you do a video of web pages i think eberibudy will like it.
Thanks a lot i hope you text my back/ i have sean all your videos and you are the best whit a big diference.
great review!!
great video!
+chattfiremike Thanks!
Look up bluegill fry, they have stripes and are very light colored
I think Rapala was a little confused when making their ShadRap. It's the color of a smallmouth but the pattern is a largemouth. lol
They are pretty much the same pattern but with bolder color on the smallmouth
Smallmouth are verticle stripes not one horizontal
Its close enough for a fish not to care as its flying by them
That is what Smallmouth look like
With the name of FishingTheGreatLakes I would assume that you've caught a smallmouth or two and would know what they look like. A smallmouth has verticle stripes on it's side, not horozontal.

KeepinItReelFishing
Don’t agree with what u said regarding the cast ability
I can launch these baits with 12# floro 40 yards easy
you think the fish actually cares if it as HD live colour, if its hungry its hungry
You think it beats strike king XD there heavy and cast far
Buenos Rapalas
Pumpkin seed all day
