I think The Onion and Rugby Pass should take these negative comments, weirdly, as compliments: the last few series have just been so incredibly brilliant that this feels slightly underwhelming in comparison, but everybody knows why and, more importantly, I still think it's so great.
We do this so it feels that the boys are more intimately interviewed. We want them to talk to the audience instead of an interviewer. And to bring them closer gives them no option to look away or be distracted (as boys often are!) it means they HAVE to look down the lens. We warn them to blow their noses and clean their teeth cos that would be embarrassing on so many levels…
I’m sorry to hear you think that Fionn. I think rather than trying to compare this Season to the one before, it might be worth considering the context of how this was filmed. This was filmed in the middle of 2020, there was no vaccine even being talked about then. If you try and think of how much uncertainty there was in the middle of 2020 and then imagine having to try and film an entire series under those circumstances then it may be a bit clearer why this series may seem to not have the same quality as the one in 2019. There were so Many restrictions in the way of this being filmed and Onion TV still did an amazing job managing to film as much as they could given the situation. We appreciate the feedback like this as it really does help us look at how we can improve this for you all in the future 👍🏼
Hi Fionn, thanks for your feedback. As expected, everyone rightly has their own thoughts and perspectives on where the show might lead and what it may contain. This episode does move a bit slower than most but it was being used to bring some context to the BBC feat of going title-less for over 100 years. The only way to do this was to speak to those Old Boys who had lived through the failures of the past and near-misses. It give weight to the 2020 achievements. But again respectfully, we don’t expect everyone to like every moment. We’re just conscious of not making it too rugby heavy so people can appreciate the story as well as the action. Hope you enjoy the next one!
the u18 Australian schoolboy team fucking dominated NZ lmao. It's a shame that most school boy union prodigies get taken into the NRL. I can assure SA and NZ that the wallabies would be so much better if this wasn't the case
What's going on? Read the reply about the context about the timing of when this was filmed but surely that's not a reason to have such a long winded section about BBC from way back. Don't get the need to drag this out, why not just make it a long documentary? All previous were amazing, this one not so much!
Good point. Something we’ll consider next time. To be truthful - I’m sure you’ll understand - it was a miracle we even filed this. There were so many restrictions in place that we had to make a decision : would Season fans want 12 months without a series or would they prefer seeing some kind of high school rugby? We figured you guys would want to see something more than nothing so we put this together but it wouldn’t sit well as 3 single episodes. It was better as a number of parts instead. Let’s face it - all rules went out the window last year.

Good to see these boys enjoying a bit of BBC action
Why is the camera so close to there face when your interviewing people

Was so excited for the episode and then nearly fell asleep watching it. Quality has definitely been cut

RugbyPass whatever happened to the Aussie Rugby Show? I assume COVID, but will it comeback?
Will send an update soon!
No wonder Wallabies rugby is cabbage if they think that this is brutal rugby!

Never clicked so fast
Come tour SA boys... We will definitely toughen you up haha
Ozzie kids dont do roids tho
SA is fucking cheeks at rugby 😭
Can't have a rugby video these days without a saffa talking about themselves lol
by toughen them up do you mean roid them up?
Good sir I hope you mean south Auckland 😆
2nd half?
Why they so short now
Lack of footage or somin to do with covid I think
The EP’s are shorter this series because of COVID meaning they had to condense the parts. Will be back to normal in future 🤝

Irish schoolboys rugby is way more passionate, physical and exciting than this rubbish 😂
