@@josephthomas2226 I've noticed a lot of SNL cast members haven't gotten a lot of screen time lately. They stick with Heidi Gardner, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, and Marcello Hernandez, while I don't think I've seen Punkie Johnson or James Austin Johnson AT ALL this season or last season.
@@TheLordOfNothing JA Johnson is on a lot, but nearly always n character disguises (Trump especially). Since she started, Punkie has never established herself - nothing memorable, no recurring characters. I know this is terrible, but I wonder if they are afraid to fire her because she is a lesbian of color.
To be fair, Heidi, Kenan, Ego (and Mikey Day) deserve to be on the show a lot. They are the 4 best who remain. But Molly K has also done absolutely nothing, and it's possible she also was a quota hire (first non-binary cast member.) But I have nothing against any of them - I hope they all do well.

This whole bit felt like Michael Che’s wet dream. I don’t think he wrote it, but I assume he fought as hard as he needed to for it to get on the show

What’s really strange is that when I thought about it after she said it, I never realized that the show mostly airs on Sunday morning! Yes, the first half hour is on Saturday night but the bulk of the show does actually air on Sunday morning. Never thought of that before until she brought it up. LOL
Tbf, that’s only for east coasters. Here in the Midwest it starts at 10:30 and ends at midnight. I’m guessing the other time zones are similar in having it all on Saturday, lol.

SNL started when Johnny Carson wanted to do less episodes of his late night show (now Jimmy Fallon's show) by moving the best-of episodes from weekends to weekdays, essentially so he'd do less work.SNL filled that gap on Saturdays, and it's been going ever since.
This was really funny. She plays crazy very well. This and the robot. They are really letting the new cast members stretch their legs and I’m glad, so far they are all great.
What happened to Kate McKinnon?

On the whole, SNL functions in a format that is quickly losing relevance and the show is mostly unfunny in my opinion. That being said, I don't know why an attack on my sense of humor was relevant. Just post a separate comment or keep these kinds of opinions between you and your friends.

When I first saw her I was just like “hmm, weird haircut”, but watching this I can’t get over how funny and adorable she is. Just bursting with charisma.
Totally. We ran in the same circles here in Chicago. She is a genuinely wonderful person. We all knew she wasn't "long for this [Chicago] world" and would be making it big soon. It happened so fast, too. She deserves it. Very hard worker and again, just genuinely lovely.

A great, proper intro to a new member. From the outfit to the performative outrage (is there a comedic target more fun to play with than Colin?), this was a winner.
That outfit wasn't necessarily for this particular sketch; she wears stuff that loud as just everyday normal clothing.

These year’s newbies are the greatest lot of new hires in a LONG while. They’ve brought a ton of new life to the cast and you can tell. Keep it up y’all! ♥️
I think they're making more of a point to use what waz funny from their rehearsals or pre-snl stand up routines early in the season. Both the robot stand up and the one word make up a song character were from that actor's stand up routine. The same may be true of this bit with Sherman.

It's been a long time since I cry laughed that hard at SNL. This season is really great.
This Sarah Sherman has the "IT" factor; that same sense of comedic fearlessness that Gilda Radner had, ( & Belushi as well ). U simply WANT to watch what she's going to do/say next.
I’m commenting a second time having watched this again. I’ve been thinking for a while that the quality of SNL has been sinking fairly dramatically, but man, this was so funny and entertaining. What brilliant chaotic energy. That’s what made SNL so good - the CHAOS of live comedy. The new cast members are eclipsing the seasoned veterans. Loving the energy and the humour. More more more!!!

@@saeedhossain6099 7th graders are not generally renowned for their abilities in creating concept-based sketch comedy - they generally tell self-contained jokes and riddles that dont translate well to TV.
I feel like the spirit of Gilda Radner showed up on set for this one and gave Sarah Sherman a little bit of the Old Magic to start off on a strong foot.
Not that she didn't carry it on her own, mind you. Just, Gilda's ghost being like "oh, this one. This one we're giving a little extra nudge. She has the spark."
She needs to play Fran Drescher in a Nanny sketch!
