This man eludes me. So soft spoken, yet full of energy, spontaneity and humor. As soon as he starts playing he settles into the mood of the song he's playing instantly, regardless of whatever he was saying or doing before. It's like every part of his being is dedicated to channeling that energy.
I distinctly remember driving home somewhere between 94 and 95 and hearing Last Goodbye on the radio for the first time. Before Cell phones and RUclips were around, I raced home as fast as I could so that I could tell my brothers to turn on the radio and hear this fantastic song. There were only a few times in my life that a song moved me in the way that Last Goodbye did at that moment. The whole album turned out to be like that for me. What a talent. I am very grateful he created for as long as he did, I only wish it were longer.
Refreshing. Never get tired of Jeff goofing off and being beautiful. Ending with Strange Fruit was just perfect, to stir up the prissy interviewer. Silence, lol. He was the best.
Chris Cornell said in an interview that Jeff could’ve done anything. And every time he sang it was beautiful. I love how Chris would bring Jeff’s red phone with him on the solo tours. Whole lotta love. ♥️
Ils auraient été les meilleurs amis du monde ces deux-là, Pourtant ils sont morts tous les deux sans se connaître. Quel tragique destin commun. Une perte énorme que ces deux artistes uniques en leur genre.
I can't believe this was posted 6 years ago and I've only just found it. No one touches my soul the way Jeff does with his beautiful voice and guitar playing. To quote one of Jeff's favorite bands "there is a light that never goes out."
Grace sounds like he's playing it on a 12-string guitar, sounds gorgeous. Also the lowest chord in the verse/chorus progression, it has this extra note in it which I didn't realise was there, and might not be there in the other versions, but it's so beautiful.
Liza Richardson swoons and moons in the wake of Jeff's beautiful voice and flirting. The man was so gifted at going against the tide even his corpse swam upstream. The mystery of JB.
Nothing but love and inspiration here. This is the beauty of the human condition in relation to true art. Let's remember our humanity in 2020. Nothing would honor Jeff more. He was a beautiful soul.
This recording has something special, that night, that girl and him where sitting in that room, having this conversation and letting the music shine through Jeff, that moment happened, and that's great to be able to hear it.
You can just tell by her voice how into Jeff the interviewer is, haha. What an amazing performance. Probably my favorite musician of all time, so much soul and wisdom in his work.
that voice...sorely missed! it is amazing after all these years his music never ever gets old for me, there is always something new to it every time I listen to his music, so haunting
Liza Richardson...Her work was amazing, she was so lucky to be able to casually talk with Jeff. Amazing! Such a pleasure to find this treasure. Thank you.
Truly amazing, I love jb, I've never heard anybody else that can get such a strong grip upon my soul. He is truly beautiful, I've heard these recordings once before and could not find them again. Thank you so much for posting this.
Thank you, thank you for posting this ! You made my year!! I heard this set as it aired back in the 90s and I thought 'who the hell is this guy.' Baby, we all found out....that voice, just incomparable and one of kind
Ahhhh... this is amazing! As a super fan for years, I can't believe I hadn't come across this yet! "Eye Against Eye" was hilarious and incredible! Thank you so much for posting this! What a gem!!! Miss you Jeff!!!!
Dit vind ik een van de geweldigste zangers ooit. Emotie klinkt door heel zijn stem en herin vind ik mijn inspiratie.Helaas is hij heel erg vroeg overleden door een ongeluk hij verdronk in het water.
This is our last goodbye I hate to feel the love between us die But it's over Just hear this and then I'll go You gave me more to live for More than you'll ever know This is our last embrace Must I dream and always see your face? Why can't we overcome this wall? Baby, maybe its just because you didn't know you at all Kiss me, please kiss me But kiss me out of desire, babe, not consolation Oh, you know it makes me so angry 'Cause I know that in time, I'll only make you cry This is our last goodbye Did you say, "No, this can't happen to me" Did you rush to the phone to call Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind Saying maybe you didn't know him at all You didn't know him at all, oh oh, ya didn't know Ooo didn't know Well, the bells out in the church tower chime Burning clues into this heart of mine Thinking so hard on her soft eyes And the memories, offer signs that it's over Over
Oh man, please don't refer to Jeff as 'the buckmeister' ever again. Thank you. Actually please just delete your comment, we'll pretend it never happened. I feel a bit sick now.
Laura yeah, I learned of his music recently. Then learned of his death shortly after and was crushed. The more I learn about him, I realize just how complex and sensitive he was. He loved performing but the business side really brought him down. I wish his manager was there to stop him from going in the water that night, but in Jeff's mind he just wanted that freedom to splash around and do what he wanted. A tug boat passed by and apparently created an enormous pull and undertow that carried him blocks down river. Just a terrible accident. But yes hard to accept such a gift being taken.
He toured the US solo in 1994. When he played in San Francisco at the Paradise Lounge, the audience talked through the whole set. Later that year was the first tour with the band. In SF they played at Above Brain Wash, which fit about 50 people. I was in the front row.
Looking out the door I see the rain Fall upon the funeral mourners Parading in a wake of sad relations As their shoes fill up with water Maybe I'm too young To keep good love from going wrong But tonight you're on my mind So... you'll never know Broken down and hungry for your love With no way to feed it Where are you tonight? Child, ya know how much I need it Too young to hold on And too old to just break free and run Sometimes a man gets carried away When he feels like should be having his fun Much too blind to see the damage he's done Sometimes a man must awake to find that Really he has no one So I'll wait for you, love And I'll burn Will I ever see your sweet return? Oh, will I ever learn? Oh-oh, lover, you should've come over 'Cause it's not too late Lonely is the room, the bed is made The open window lets the rain in Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams He had you with him My body turns And yearns for a sleep that won't ever come It's never over My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder It's never over All my riches for her smiles When I've slept so soft against her It's never over All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter It's never over She is the tear that hangs inside my soul forever Oh, but maybe I'm just too young To keep good love from going wrong Oh-oh-oh, lover You should've come over, yeah, yes Yes, I feel too young to hold on And much too old to break free and run Too deaf, dumb and blind to see the damage I've done Sweet lover, you should've come over Oh, love, well I've waited for you Lover, lover, lover Lover, love, love, love, love, love, love! Lover, you should've come over 'Cause it's not too late
I want to fall asleep and wake up 30 years ago and hear Jeff Buckley again for the first time and be mesmerized and relive that moment over and over
Oh my - 30 years?!
00:00 - Grace
13:27 - Lover, You Should've Come Over
22:30 - Last Goodbye
28:11 - Strange Fruit
Legendddddd
Hugo Figueiredo i
You forgot the epic "I against I" cover after Grace!
you left out the Bad Brains cover he did in between Grace and Lover
Cheers bud!
every bit of jeff stuff that I find, that is new to me, is like a true gift from heaven above.
+Cindy Santoro exactly, it is the only artist that i've listened to for 1 year ... without getting tired of it, a true gift ...
Home Goods Plus here here
Exactly!! I cherish discovering recordings from him I haven't heard before ❤
Totally
He was a true gift
Just a 2023 comment sparkled with love and gratitude for his work.

Nailed it! Pure artist. Strange Fruit is incredible here immediately after some light-hearted chatting with the hostess.
@@truefunksoul8638 That's a Celtic thing, switch on/switch off. A lot of Irish and Scottish musicians do that.
Jeff playing the opening chords of "Lover, You Should've..." as Liza explains what Man in The Moon is-so wonderful
That song kills me Everytime😞❤️
Jeff would’ve covered Creep acoustically spot on

I was the same.
He was really good guitarist too, which was a great compliment to his singing - could emote with both!
Cobalt Blue absolutely!
And he made those two instruments sound as if they’re weeping.
for sure! the buckster was a very complete bluesman in his own right
He started his musical studies intending on only becoming a guitarist
Refreshing. Never get tired of Jeff goofing off and being beautiful.
Ending with Strange Fruit was just perfect, to stir up the prissy interviewer. Silence, lol. He was the best.

Love the interview bits. Makes me feel like he's still alive.
4:30am... made me emotional. interview felt real. i wish he was still here,
I can't believe this was posted 6 years ago and I've only just found it. No one touches my soul the way Jeff does with his beautiful voice and guitar playing. To quote one of Jeff's favorite bands "there is a light that never goes out."
What song is it from?
Kevin Coady it’s a song called There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths
Ahhh the Smiths
I reccomend you check out his father Tim
He was on another level, I think we can all agree. His segues here are incredibly unique and hilarious. Just an honest guy casually being himself.
Grace sounds like he's playing it on a 12-string guitar, sounds gorgeous. Also the lowest chord in the verse/chorus progression, it has this extra note in it which I didn't realise was there, and might not be there in the other versions, but it's so beautiful.
But always on a 6!!
nice little glimpse into the mysterious being known as Jeff Buckley
Liza Richardson swoons and moons in the wake of Jeff's beautiful voice and flirting. The man was so gifted at going against the tide even his corpse swam upstream. The mystery of JB.

His voice just soothes my soul.
I keep coming back to this..he was so free playing his music. What a beautiful soul.
This recording has something special, that night, that girl and him where sitting in that room, having this conversation and letting the music shine through Jeff, that moment happened, and that's great to be able to hear it.
That Bad Brains cover is killer!
That laugh at 9:34... even his goofiness was charming!
the laugh of the GOAT of high tenors
I never get tired of these songs. They’re even better live, than they are on the record.
Freakin' Bad Brains.
Holy Schmoley.
Please come back.
I love his joking :)
"Man in the moon...we don't care because we got Liza..."
I love how Last Goodbye starts, mellow stuff alt
9 years to find this.... Love Jeff. Your soul is dtill leaving in our hearths. Tonight you are SO REAL.... 😇
You can just tell by her voice how into Jeff the interviewer is, haha. What an amazing performance. Probably my favorite musician of all time, so much soul and wisdom in his work.
Happy Birthday ...Jeff!! I miss you so much.and I love this set. I listen to it over and over again.

Liza Richardson...Her work was amazing, she was so lucky to be able to casually talk with Jeff.
Amazing! Such a pleasure to find this treasure.
Thank you.
Yes....and that smooth-as-silk voice of hers; so calming.
It gets more and more beautiful every time I hear it.
This is a relic. It's perfection. It's Jeff Buckley
Lovely voices, both of them really. Love Jeff.
One of the best versions of Lover I've heard. The Bad Brains is certainly a treat.
My hero! Love you Jeff! Don't think there's any other out there as dexterous and sincere as he is!
20:14 - wow who would have thought that Lover you should have come over was written on a Gisbon-L1!
The guy had everything. Period.

Goddamn, that version of Lover was intense.
I love listening to him talk... I swear I'd never get sick of this man ... never
How incredibly creative and alive he was here!
I just miss him sooooooo much... ㅠㅠ
Bad Brains to original gem to Billie Holiday! A genius who's somehow still a man after my own heart. Thanks for sharing this!
That Bad Brains cover was great.
I miss him so much 😖
Wow I love his laugh XD he would've made a great voice actor for cartoons.
Lunna Rodriguez When he does the girly comedy voice he sounds like he comes straight out of The Most Popular Girls in School. x)
Thank you, thank you for posting this ! You made my year!! I heard this set as it aired back in the 90s and I thought 'who the hell is this guy.' Baby, we all found out....that voice, just incomparable and one of kind
thank you for posting this whoever you are and wherever you found this! beautiful!
I stumbled onto this for the first time today. Sounds great and makes me miss him even more
Ahhhh... this is amazing! As a super fan for years, I can't believe I hadn't come across this yet! "Eye Against Eye" was hilarious and incredible! Thank you so much for posting this! What a gem!!! Miss you Jeff!!!!
You haven’t HEARD the grace riff until you’ve heard the acoustic grace riff. Wow.

Beautiful it is artmusik.

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over

You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know
This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face?

Baby, maybe its just because you didn't know you at all
Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, not consolation
Oh, you know it makes me so angry
'Cause I know that in time, I'll only make you cry
This is our last goodbye
Did you say, "No, this can't happen to me"
Did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh oh, ya didn't know
Ooo didn't know
Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes
And the memories, offer signs that it's over
Over
Man I miss him
Thanks for sharing - awesome.
Love this!! Thank you💚
Thanks for uploading this. Great performances
jee ,Jeff is the bestbestbest...no more words ♥ ♫
"I don't want to have I go against I
oh let me tell you!!!!!!"
good lord, that "grace" rendition. wow.
So beautiful 😢😞
I miss him a lot.
Yep, totally understand now
You understand hidden meaning, truth of these lyric/voice or it is completely different what do you mean by "totally understand it"
That was so real..
You are my god . and forever be ❤
I can't believe how his story went. It was like something out of mythology.
I so love this!!!
Wow! KCRW’s official yt channel doesn’t even have this.
that little melody at 25:09 .. oh man, the buckmeister.
Oh man, please don't refer to Jeff as 'the buckmeister' ever again. Thank you. Actually please just delete your comment, we'll pretend it never happened. I feel a bit sick now.
Where did this come from ? It's too gorgeous
Thank you
He should still be alive
It's not fair

this is wonderfull! thanks for sharing
Imma download this before this golden treasure gets buried.
Absolutely ❤
Thank you
Heya. Just amazing bawdy crate
Che voce che aveva. Che precisione. Che purezza. Che talento.
He toured the US solo in 1994. When he played in San Francisco at the Paradise Lounge, the audience talked through the whole set. Later that year was the first tour with the band. In SF they played at Above Brain Wash, which fit about 50 people. I was in the front row.
32:51... fantastic!
Advert right in the middle of the outro to Grace. FFS RUclips!
When he comes into last goodbye...
Looking out the door I see the rain
Fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations
As their shoes fill up with water
Maybe I'm too young
To keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you're on my mind
So... you'll never know
Broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight?
Child, ya know how much I need it
Too young to hold on
And too old to just break free and run
Sometimes a man gets carried away
When he feels like should be having his fun
Much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that
Really he has no one
So I'll wait for you, love
And I'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return?
Oh, will I ever learn?
Oh-oh, lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late
Lonely is the room, the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams
He had you with him
My body turns
And yearns for a sleep that won't ever come
It's never over
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over
All my riches for her smiles
When I've slept so soft against her
It's never over
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over
She is the tear that hangs inside my soul forever
Oh, but maybe I'm just too young
To keep good love from going wrong
Oh-oh-oh, lover
You should've come over, yeah, yes
Yes, I feel too young to hold on
And much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb and blind to see the damage I've done
Sweet lover, you should've come over
Oh, love, well I've waited for you
Lover, lover, lover
Lover, love, love, love, love, love, love!
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late
It would help if she was a little bit more overawed by what she was observing. A very special interview. :-)
