I love the game and cherish every memory of my interaction with coaches and players, good and bad (way more good 😊). I’d like to just add one more perspective for fans/parents to consider. I have dialogue with coaches and players the entire game, very important to all of them. On many occasions after questionable/close calls, as we were lining up for free throws or to throw the ball inbounds, the player on the court who committed the foul would apologize for the loud profanity laced tongue lashing being dished out by mom or dad. I understand mom or dad sticking up for their children, but when the player is so embarrassed they feel the need to apologize for their parent’s actions? Highly regarded young men and women for their maturity in that moment, mom and dad should be very proud of them, I know I was! Thank you all for your time!

Don't bark from the dugout like that. Ask for time and go talk to the guy. Maybe he'll go get help, maybe not, but if you're going to yell at him have the decency to do it on the field.
First off, runner looked safe. The coach is an idiot, if he asked for time, then asked the base umpire “say blue, I think you may have had a bad angle, could you please ask the plate umpire for help”. He probably would of asked PU and they would of got the safe call, so bad call by umpire, worse call by coach

Terrible job by the umpire here. Picked 1 guy out of a dugout full of guys, and throws him out for next to nothing. If an umpire can't take someone telling them he made a terrible call, he shouldn't be working. On the other hand, the players should have had to immediately leave or forfeit the game.
To be fair, the umpire didn’t give him a ton of leeway. But, when you get ejected, you need to quit arguing and leave the field, regardless of whether the call was right or wrong. A manager acting like that sets a horrible example and is a big reason why there is a shortage of umpires.
A problem is the rules act like umps are perfect. The ones that give decent leeway and then eject i like as it shows they are being human while also applying the rule more fairly.

That pitcher wouldve never stepped back on that mound, and that catcher would have been gone after that first comment.

I would also point out that with a two man crew, it’s difficult for the field umpire to get a great view of that call. So I would suggest that the league hire three or four umpires. That would probably quiet things. There’s a reason why MLB uses a four man crew, and six for playoff games.

As an umpire for girls fast pitch, I have two ways of handling an upset person due to a difference of opinion on a call I made. #1 a spectator: I don't defend my call, I just keep telling them they a lucky. After the third or fourth time they always ask why they are lucky. Then I lay it on them. I tell them I wish God had made me perfect like they are. #2 A coach in single man mechanics. I tell them that I will ask what the field umpire saw and they let me know there is no field umpire. Then I lay it on them with a "THERE YOU HAVE IT". They always walk away.
LMFGDAO! Brother, you win the internet! Awesome! Look at this guy! "Ma'am/Sir, you appear to have a keen interest and supreme knowledge of the game of baseball. You know, you may have heard...we REALLY need umpires. Would you like to join us out on the field sometime and work a game?" They always walk away...ALWAYS.
totally BS reply. BU was in the proper position to start for 2 man crew mechanics. he then moved into the infield to establish a better angle. in no way could he be on top of a play at 3rd. if he doesn't make the call, do you want the PU to make the call?
The ump thru my son out of the game last year. He was first at bat in the first inning and my son looked at the ump and called him out on some questionable strikes. The ump told him that he was tossed. He was devastated. He was only 10 years old. It was the first game of the season. It really set the tone. He actually talks to that ump quite a bit when he is up to bat now.
@@richardbobby4992 10 year olds need to learn early that it is the coaches job to address the umpire and players should play the game and not argue with the umpires.
It is not a players job to call out the ump on balls and strikes. Especially not at that age. That is what the coach is for and there is definitely a correct way to approach it.
F2 should have went, coach should have went....regardless of the first ejection/call - coach for sending the ejected player to the mound, f2 for bitching about it when he was removed from the mound.
This wasn't a terrible call. I had to replay it 5 times on 0.25 speed to find a frame where it looked like he was definitely safe, and even then he was only safe by 1 frame. The call felt worse in real time than it actually was Anyway, if you want that call made better more often, pay for another umpire. Calls at 3rd base are the biggest hole in the 2 man system.
@@Johnleonard-w5z I haven't forgotten, but on a steal of third like this, you don't have much time to get in the ideal position. He moved in the correct direction to get a view but he only was able to take a few steps. Limits of two man mechanics.
LOL...I mean, you can always ask but...PU is 90 feet away. If you allow an appeal or even a discussion about a possible appeal there, you are now telling all the coaches and players that they can ask to go to another umpire on every close play. There are circumstances where the crew will get together. This is not one of them. Right or wrong, that is U1's call.
Big mouth guy needs to be cautioned by the coach to stop with the yelling. If he continues, HP umpire should eject and not restart the game until he’s in his car and driving away. 3rd base coach should have requested time out to talk to base umpire to appeal the call. Then ask him to confer with his partner who may have had a better angle. If player was ejected for a few magic words and the call is overturned, then get a new runner. After the game, report to the league’s UIC and let the league deal with the recalcitrant player.
Let’s add to this situation to help! 1). Base umpire move your feet to get to what appears to be a better angle on the throw down to 3rd. 2).umpires meet and “act” like you are discussing what you both saw, then make a ruling. 3). Then “calm” the situation down by explaining what was seen and called. I’m guessing this wasn’t the initial response of “unhappiness “from that team and/or player. Umpires have memories and love to send a message!
1) maybe. He did look like he was trailing the runner more than getting an angle. Also, timing could have been a lil better (could have slowed down a tad) 2) Never. In a 2 man crew U1 has no reason to be doing anything other than making sure he doesn’t have batter interference. Only possible thing he could have had was maybe seeing the ball out of the mitt on the tag and not completing the play. Other than that you do not get together. 3) not explaining a damn thing to a coach yelling from the dugout or coaches box. Request time and come and talk. U2 maybe had a quick Trigger but that’s about it.
There no need to get a second opinion on the call... It's purely a judgement call... We don't know how these guys act in their other games but I have good idea it's always like this when a close call goes against them!
There are circumstances where an umpire crew can get together. Typically, that involves pulled foot, swipe tag or runner's lane interference. This play here is NOT a circumstance where the crew should get together. Right or wrong, this is U1's call.
Why would the catcher be suspended for two games? Is the catcher responsible for which pitcher goes on the mound? Also, who's yelling? It sounds more like a manager or coach, surprised the pitcher got run if someone else was yelling

Baseball is a sport. It's not a natural resource, it has nothing to do with our political circus. It's a sport period!!!! Fanatical or FANS should keep their comments to themselves or be thrown out of the park.
I like when you can hear ever word between manager and ump.
grown ass men... the catcher and pitcher will have great stories to tell on break tomorrow
Would you like to join us out on the field sometime and work a game?" They always walk away...ALWAYS.
wow threaten the umps with leaving.... lol you realize they get paid either way right
The guy doing all the yelling and complaining needs some serious anger management classes. Ten bucks says he is dead or in jail within 5 years.
probably gives his wife a whack and his kids a slap too
Bingo
he should have taken the criticism, knowing he was way out of position for a call at third.
totally BS reply.
If he ejected a 10 year old for questioning his calls, he ain’t much of an umpire.
Or a man.
@@richardbobby4992 10 year olds need to learn early that it is the coaches job to address the umpire and players should play the game and not argue with the umpires.
@@alanhess9306oh shut up
@@richardbobby4992 Bullshit reasoning.
It is not a players job to call out the ump on balls and strikes. Especially not at that age. That is what the coach is for and there is definitely a correct way to approach it.
Just Play the game. Whining coaches. If you don’t like the call become an umpire and deal with coaches like yourself.
They'll never be umpires because they don't have the BALLS........(think, "slit", stinky--fish smell!!)..lol!!!!!
F2 should have went, coach should have went....regardless of the first ejection/call - coach for sending the ejected player to the mound, f2 for bitching about it when he was removed from the mound.
umpire should have called the game and left.
Coaches and players let their emotions take over. I'TS A GAME FOR SHIT'S SAKE. Who wants to be PU with that kind of abuse?
This wasn't a terrible call. I had to replay it 5 times on 0.25 speed to find a frame where it looked like he was definitely safe, and even then he was only safe by 1 frame. The call felt worse in real time than it actually was
Anyway, if you want that call made better more often, pay for another umpire. Calls at 3rd base are the biggest hole in the 2 man system.
It wasn't close at all...
I saw it once and the tag was late.
@@Johnleonard-w5z It was a missed call but it happens because umpires cannot always get to the optimal position to make the call in a two man system.
@@alanhess9306 Remember angle over distance.
@@Johnleonard-w5z I haven't forgotten, but on a steal of third like this, you don't have much time to get in the ideal position. He moved in the correct direction to get a view but he only was able to take a few steps. Limits of two man mechanics.
That coach just say u can't throw someone out in first inning that guy sucks at a coach
The complaining team would need another catcher because he would be gone too. If that didn't work forfeit the game
Appeal to the home plate umpire. He was in better position
How was the catcher not tossed?
Big mouth guy needs to be cautioned by the coach to stop with the yelling. If he continues, HP umpire should eject and not restart the game until he’s in his car and driving away.
3rd base coach should have requested time out to talk to base umpire to appeal the call. Then ask him to confer with his partner who may have had a better angle. If player was ejected for a few magic words and the call is overturned, then get a new runner. After the game, report to the league’s UIC and let the league deal with the recalcitrant player.
@Hwks The coach can ask the umpire to get help if he feels he missed the call, but the umpire can refuse.
I had to look up that word, never saw it before.
The catcher needs to gone as well , major profanity and running his mouth
He was safe though, he was under the tag
What in the hell was he looking at? Obvious the runner's hands were on the base when tag applied.
He wasn't in a good position to see the play. There are limitations in a two man crew.
Oh..but you? You've got the best angle here on You Tube, yeah?
I would’ve hated playing on ball teams that just whine whine whine 😢😢😢
grow up ya middle age babies
Sunday ball gotta love it old heads need to relax
Is this a Mens Ametour game ? they don't look like High schoolers...
Bad call.. but.. just say it nicely as you can... ... send the ump the video later.... speaks a 1000 words.... and move on...
Also, timing could have been a lil better (could have slowed down a tad)
2) Never.
U2 maybe had a quick
Trigger but that’s about it.
There no need to get a second opinion on the call... It's purely a judgement call... We don't know how these guys act in their other games but I have good idea it's always like this when a close call goes against them!
he did move to a better angle. his initial positioning was correct also for 2 man crew mechanics. you speak without knowledge of umpire positioning.
There are circumstances where an umpire crew can get together. Typically, that involves pulled foot, swipe tag or runner's lane interference. This play here is NOT a circumstance where the crew should get together. Right or wrong, this is U1's call.
bad call but have to move on
Why would the catcher be suspended for two games? Is the catcher responsible for which pitcher goes on the mound? Also, who's yelling? It sounds more like a manager or coach, surprised the pitcher got run if someone else was yelling
they’re grown men. its an adult league. they all sound like managers and coaches.
Rofl.....terrible call
