Good job on the video! Didn't know what a "sokoban" game was until watching this video. Gonna check out the game now tho, looks right up my alley

While not exactly similar, watching this game reminded me a bit of a game we had on our one class room pc in elementary school, called "Pushy" (and today I learned it was also part of this Sokoban genre^^). It was part of some learning program with a ton of different tasks and minigames, but we only ever played Pushy, as it the most complete game on there. It was a simple block pushing game, at least at first, but then it added more and more mechanics, becoming more challenging than almost any puzzle game I have ever played. Seriously, a friend and me found a version of it online two years ago, and played it again as adults. He, being much better than me, got to level 180 or something like that (I already struggled around level 100), but that wasn't even the end. I'm not even sure how many levels there are, while there is a modern mobile app version of it with 250 levels, that one does seem a bit different. Now, knowing about Sokoban and looking up some of that game's level designs, I suspect it might have been a reskinned collection of Sokoban levels, but can't say for sure. It is just crazy to me that this random game made for german elementary school teaching was somehow the most insane and difficult puzzle game I've known. Random anecdote, I know, the tight spaces and limited movement of this game just triggered an old memory xD Regarding the actual game in the video, it does put an interesting twist on this genre by giving you two "sides" to control, which really changes how you approach this otherwise old design. There is prorably much more that they can/could do with this, but this is really impressive for a game made in a couple of days.

yes! i thought it was impressive as well! i'm excited to try more game jam games as i go throughout the ftp games available in steam and otherwise.
also, wow, i really love that story. i don't remember many of the educational games available to us in school, except maybe oregon trail was pretty popular? but i feel like i didn't play that much. i had games at home that caught my interest much more hehe. but as i get older, i appreciate puzzle games more and more for the instant dopamine delivery and also the confidence it brings to my heart thinking that i am "training my brain" lolol. i'll look into pushy (such a cute name too!) when i'm in web browsing mode hehe. thank you for that!

it took me 64 minutes to beat all levels according to steam ...
it's quite a shame that it's so short... but it was a nice little game nonetheless
I didn't know that this kind of game was a named genre ... but yeah i also first meet the sokoban game in pokemon
it also scared me to all hell when i first cut the hand off by accident in a level that did not required it
the loud sound of closing gate ... hand turning bloody orange and high pitch sound or retracting arm ... did not expect that at all

RIGHT!! i was also so shocked! and then realized, oh, the puzzle names are clues or hints!! that was supposed to happen! i really loved it. and i love learning new trivia ehe~

I like this rating criteria you've made, it feels like it will be very compatible with all sorts of games in this series. I hate when people rate a game based on categories that aren't applicable - like if you grade Katamari based on a 'graphics' criteria, you are super missing the point. Although 'graphics' is a bad metric at the best of times.

agree! thanks, i tried to make it super inclusive of the different elements/senses that we get from games as opposed to more general metrics that only really cater to AAA developer games hehe. thank you thank you~

Hi, how high are you? This was unexpected game :-D I love the simple concept of handshake as main theme. And first thing that came to my mind was "it looks like sokoban". I played that game over and over on my first pc when I was 10. There were also many sokoban clones during the 90s... it was quite popular game genre.
Is there some handshake lore entry about that dismembered, blood-red palm? :-D It looks like very powerful thing which can keep buttons pressed and even move objects... but getting it is quite counterintuitive, since you don't want to cut of your palm in a game called handshakes :-D ... and how is it possible to regrow this shakey bit of your hand in an instant?

loooool not very high at all~! i'm simply just on a quest to find the very best free to play games out there! i love the concept too! i missed out on a lot of the sokoban exclusive games, but played a lot utilizing the sokoban concept within them as minigames.
the dismembered hand is completely overpowered! once i realized it was a feature, it was such a shocking and delightful discovery! lolol.
they must be highly evolved creatures, hand and arm specific creatures, hellbent on shaking hands to the point of extremely quick regeneration powers.

@@leonblep Sorry for late response. Your last sentence just made my day :-D :-D excellent summary.
Btw. aren't you supposed to play this game with someone, so you can shake hands. I tried it, but I was too shaking my left hand with my right hand :-D .
But it's nice there are still games for two players on one computer. I loved this "hot seat" multiplayer style when I was kid and more games were like that.
Good work on raising the bar for your video editing skills. At least I have a feeling, that this one had much more cuts and various pictures in it than your previous videos :-).
And I must add, you look mighty attractive in that combat suit (or what is it):-D.
      On topic of free games:
Simple game with which I had real fun was "Nuclear Wars" ... it was a blast! :-D
And quite recently, I have learned that "Battle for Middle Earth" 1 and 2 are now categorized as "abandonware". So it is legal to download it and play. You can't get it from retailers anyway.. since it's abandonware, no one can sell it. I would also recommend mod: "Age of the Ring". In install instructions there are also links for Battle for Middle Earth iso images and patches.
I think you once mentioned, that you like strategy games :-) ... and if you also like Tolkien, this one is for you.
Now I'm gonna catch up with your episodes and as I can see, there is a treat in a form of 1000subs video

the suit!!! i was so excited, in my free avatar making studio, it showed this suit! i like to think of it as a mech pilot suit hehe
i'll write down these games! i'll check that abandonware website too and see if i can snoop around for the middle earth games as well! cheers!

@@Porrast lolol i love games like that! i love playing civ with my friends passing the computer back and forth-- i grew up passing the controller between family members for some console games hehe
thank you for the recognition of the editing! i am trying to get better little by little with every upload.
the combat suit- i was so excited to see it released as a free costume in my avatar studio!! i like to think of it as a mech pilot suit hehe ^^
i will take note of nuclear wars, and also of middle earth games! i really liked those books/movies growing up, but i should revisit any of the games. there is an abandonware site i occasionally visit, and i will see if i can find it there. cheers!

@@leonblep If you are going to look up battle for middle earth, then google "Age of the Ring" mod. Their install instructions will point you in right direction even if you want to play vanilla BfME without mods.
That suits reminds me of Motoko Kusanagi from anime Ghost in the Shell. And for some reason I have a feeling, that I saw similiar suit in one of Resident Evil movies, but I'm not sure about it :-).
Mech pilot sounds awesome. If you had to choose one, what would you like to pilot? Mech, Hovercraft, Submarine, Helicopter. I'm not including spaceships because they are too cool and the choice of any sane person :-D :-D.
Btw. what kind of mech? Something like exoskeleton so you have to move with it, or do you imagine yourself sitting in cockpit, eating popcorn and crashing and blasting foes around you with one hand on control stick?
