    Hah, this would've been helpful a couple of weeks ago when i made a stocking as a sort of 'gift wrap' for a secret santa! Mine was more.. quick and dirty.. Stockings aren't really a thing in the Netherlands but this guy only put 'socks' on his wishlist, so I just had to make one!
    Our equivalent to Christmas stockings is btw to put out your shoe near the fireplace on the weekends before 'Sinterklaas' (5th of December). You'd leave a carrot in it for Sinterklaas' horse, and write a poem/wishlist, and sing songs before you go to bed :) His helpers (Piet) would then come down the chimney to fill your shoe with chocolate coins, chocolate letters and small gifts; what you'd call 'stocking stuffers'.
    Ok this little fun fact turned out to quite the essay but oh well xD

      I know- I should have put the video out a few weeks ago, but I fell behind!! I’ll have to schedule holiday videos better next year- ha!!! And thanks for the info! I love the idea of writing a poem/ wishlist and singing songs- that sounds like a lovely time 😊 thanks so much for sharing!!! I don’t mind long comments one bit! Hope you had a great holiday and have a great NEW YEAR!!! 2021 can not come fast enough!!

      PS- we leave carrots out for the reindeer with cookies for Santa- and fun fact - I am SUPER allergic to carrots! My throat swells up - no fun 🤣

      @@ScrappyStitch omg allergies sound terrifying! Carrots are our national vegetable (we even cultivated them to be orange ages ago)
      I managed without your tutorial, luckily, and I don't think I would've gone through the effort of a lining, fleece interfacing and embroidery though! It does look amaaazing tho!

      Thank u so much friend! That’s the great thing about sewing- you can make it any way you want, but the end result will be awesome because it’s handmade and personal 💗💗💗

    I am struggling so much. I am a self taught sewer and the flipping and turning inside out confuses me a lot. I just cut out all my stocking pieces and sewed the outter layers together and it was buckling so much when I turned the right way but I didn’t know why. I think its because you said the curves inside need to be trimmed and my seam allowance too wide- I have a lot of quilting and stuff, not to mention beads and things on one side so its very lumpy. I wish I had someone to help me see my stocking project to the end 😭😭 thanks for the vid.

      Hey we all start somewhere!! Definitely clip the curves to help with the bulk- another thing that might help is to increase ur stitch length if you have a lot of layers you’re sewing thru- sometimes if the stitches are too short they get wonky when u turn it right side out! Hope that helps! KEEP SEWING and watching as many vids as u can- u will get better and better! 🥰

      How many strands?

      @ScrappyStitch  2 года назад

      I use all of them because it will fill in faster!

      @@ScrappyStitch Thank you for the fast answers! I meant how many threads or strands at a time? You know, thread the needle with?

    • @ScrappyStitch
      @ScrappyStitch  2 года назад

      Yup I understand- I use all of them- I don’t separate any so it will fill in faster (so all 6 at once threaded thru the needle)
