    Quick addendum, Wilco Offroad support recommends dry lube for the retaining pin: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002JM8HM

    Great video, thank you! Looking to buy the Highgate Switch (same you have except an extra hitch receiver on the back for bike racks, etc). Absolutely LOVE the kitchen idea, it's exactly what I want to build for ours as well. Looks like a perfect combo for a 270 awning, then swing the hitch/kitchen out of the way of the awning area. Looks like the Highgate Switch also locks into place when fully extended which is a bonus I think for going with that vs the Solo version.
    How has the new pin worked for you? And do you leave the hitch on the vehicle all the time or only when going offroad?
    I'm also wondering if getting the 'high clearance' version would help prevent the reverse parking sensors from going off constantly. We have a 2023 Subaru Ascent and the hitch receiver is mounted higher, into the bumper itself. I'm hoping getting the high clearance version could actually clear the reverse parking sensors entirely.

      New pin has worked out excellent, and we leave it on all the time these days.

      @@MotorsportUnplugged Thanks! We got ours installed a few weeks ago and then took it on a 3,400 mile trip through AZ, Utah, and hundreds of miles of offroad. It worked out fantastic. We leave ours on all the time though since we have the full-size spare on there and I removed our OEM smaller spare from under the car. We carried a lot of weight (frontrunner table, full size spare, 2 gallons of water, 2 gallons of gas, 5lb propane tank, plus our camping stove and large iron griddle, plus extras) on the hitch as well, even tagged the back of it a few times climbing out of some steep obstacles and it functioning great after all that abuse.

    Having just ordered a 2023 XC60 T8 Recharge after being totaly frustrated with trying to get a RAV4 Prime her in NM. I am intrigued with your set up. Have you listed the components of you rig somewhere?

      Don't really have a recent full summary to point you towards, anything in particular you're looking for more info on?

    Can you please do a short video on how the tire carrier affected the parking sensor and cameras and how you dealt with that? Super curious about that.

    • @MotorsportUnplugged
      @MotorsportUnplugged  2 года назад +1

      The backup camera is significantly obstructed and the parking sensor chirps continuously when in Reverse, there's not really any way around that. The simple answer is I didn't do anything, beyond old-school style looking over my shoulders and using my mirrors more.

      @@MotorsportUnplugged thanks for answering! I’m thinking of buying a Volvo which is why I’m asking. Couple more questions: could you turn off chime sound so that it just displays the obstructions on the screen; the other sensors should work like normal right ? Also does the 360 camera still show the other views fine? Seems like it should. Thanks!

      Cameras works fine, other parking sensors work fine, disabling the blocked sensors...no way I know of, I just suffer the beep and pretend I'm driving a dump truck :-P

    Thanks for the vid, inspired for building out my 2018 T8! What hitch are you running?
    (Also, some previous video you pulled an “OK Google navigate…” was that the apple carplay equivalent (android auto/plugged in phone) or did you upgrade your Volvo navigation system somehow?

      It's just Android Auto from my plugged in phone. PITA to edit because it sets off everything in the home whenever that clip comes up :-P

    so why would the 2 gal and up roto not work with this rig? Due to clearance from your car to mount?

    • @MotorsportUnplugged
      @MotorsportUnplugged  Год назад

      The 2 gallon unit is wider, so that would move the center mount point out too far for the bracket to bolt properly. OTOH, two 1 gallon tanks would be a bit funky with the two spouts, so the 1.75g tank is a nice compromise.

      @@MotorsportUnplugged ok thank you. good to know as I was trying to do a 3 gallon gas and 2 gallon water container with table. Whats the spout you are using though, I didn't see it on rotopak site. Thanks again.
