At first this was just mildly interesting. Like, oh, its old Colin Baker reading a monologue from New Who, but then by the halfway point, its like he's become The Doctor again, and even though he's not wearing the patchwork coat and standing there yelling at the big star monster god thing, I can see Six there in my mind, and its just fantastic. He is a great actor bravo.
Colin is a brilliant actor and his Doctor is viciously underrated. I can imagine him and Mel on Akhaten, and his Doctor doing this. When he started reciting the speech and really got back into character, I closed my eyes and there he was: the 6th Doctor standing in 11's place, with him shouting at the parasite star. It was so amazing!
How long can we keep saying Colin is underrated, when almost every person that speaks about him, says what a wonderfully misunderstood Doctor he was, and what a great actor he is? I'd say he's very highly rated, at least amongst fans.
@@phily8093 He's probably still underrated in the eyes of the general public, though. It's mostly the fans who've experienced through Big Finish who've moved away from that opinion.
@@irrevenant3 I must be a rare exception then as I haven't heard his big finish stuff! A lot of people say that the writing back then wasn't great and again I disagree although there were a few exceptions that weren't so good. The Trial of a Timelord story was a masterpiece from start to finish though and Colin's charisma as the 6th Doctor made the story even better! I would say that 3, 6, 9, 11 and 12 are the Doctors that impacted me the most! Yes, obviously 2, 4 and 10 are good too, but overall when it comes to performance and character arcs, those 5 are the Doctors that stood out to me the most! I would say that the 1st Doctor is somewhat underrated too!
Okay, yeah, of all the past Doctors reading new speeches, I think this one was the most well delivered. It's almost like something Six might have even said in his time...excepting the "baby" bit.
He doesnt fumble, he's never unsure of how his doctor would treat this. He is acting with conviction. He is the doctor amd he will save these people. Its wonderful. He knows his doctor perfectly. Even when put on the spot he can make the speech his.
I think my favourite part of this is that Smith was more of a vulnerable take on this speech whereas Colin more chastises the god. Both are just great.
Funny thing is only one of the things that mentioned in this happened to partly cuz I'm pretty sure he visits the beginning and end of the universe after the third doctor but the third doctor is the one who saw the universe derived by a Mad man as that's an Omega reference
When Matt, did that speech, it made a direct impact. But Colin Baker makes it much more realized. The Doctor is separated from normality, & yet he keeps trying to be a part of something, to warm his two hearts. Something human, something humanity can find. Sadly Whovian's all know tho, he never can... A chance for a new person alert, & curious. A brand new mystery for him to sort out. & In their travels together, thru time & space, learn all over again thru a whole different set of perspectives & mirrored reflections. That speech gave me shivers! Great delivery Colin Baker, the misunderstood Doctor. Magic.
I can imagine the Sixth Doctor standing at the Ring, saying this. I would love to hear all Doctors say this speech.
Oh - wouldn't it be something, as he talks about his many lives, to hear the voices rise and change? Eleven, Six...all of them.
Nice focus on that guys bald spot after he finished his speech there...
Camera's for sale if you want it...

Matt Smith is good but Colin could blow away the Ahkaten Sun with his presence!
Eric Saward can not limit Colin's talent right now as we speak!!!
