Well, it has to. It's like a basic fundamental law of how the universe works. When someone as great and absolutely amazing as Peter Capaldi speaks, the atoms and molecules around him start vibrating so fast from joy it creates a subtle score to his words. It's just how it works and it's real science- trust me.
THAT was really cool, I love how he just switched to The Doctor, it was like Capaldi wasn't there any more, it was just The Doctor, doing what he does best :)
Transcript: And when the war’s over, when you’ve lost or won, when you’ve got a homeland free from humans, what do you want it to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Given it any consideration? Because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it going to be like, this homeland? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses? Do you want people to go to work? Is it going to be a land of workplaces and houses? Do you want people to go on holiday when they’re not at work? (inaudible) Are you going to allow music? Oh! Who’s going to play the violins? Who’s going to make the violins? Will there be money? Will people grow potatoes? Will there be enough potatoes? Do Zygons even like potatoes? Do they prefer beetroots? Is it going to be a land of vast beetroot forests, this paradise? Well? You see the fact is, Bonnie, like every other terrified, tantruming child in history, you have no idea what you actually want. You know what you want to destroy, you know who you want to kill, or you think you want to know what to free people from. But you don’t understand what you’re freeing them to do. Because you don’t understand what it’s like to live with other people, how complicated it is. You don’t understand what it’s like just to be a person, how complicated and strange and contradictory that is. You’ve got no imagination. You’ve got no empathy. And you can’t see beyond the end of your stolen little nose. Life, it isn’t black and white. Life isn’t light or dark. It’s full of rainbows. It’s a dazzling array of different colours. And you’re not equipped to deal with it. That’s why you’re going to fail.
+Fleur Inoue Original speech: Ah. And when this war is over, when -- when you have the homeland free from humans, what do you think it's going to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Have you given it any consideration? Because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it going to be like? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses? Do you want people to go to work? What'll be holidays? Oh! Will there be music? Do you think people will be allowed to play violins? Who will make the violins? Well? Oh, You don't actually know, do you? Because, just like every other tantruming child in history, Bonnie, you don't actually know what you want. So, let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've killed all the bad guys, and it's all perfect and just and fair, when you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do with the people like you? The troublemakers. How are you going to protect your glorious revolution from the next one?
I'd like to think canonically speaking he did give this speech to Kate and Bonnie but that it was one of the 15 times he wiped their memories. I wonder if Clara remembers them all. 😸
Im so speechless, sentimental right now, that peformance was stunning, totally something new and different from the original one on the tv show. Plus I found it interesting that this time it seemed he only showed little of his scottish accent while he got emotional at some point asking questions. Well Done Peter, and thanks for sharing
He's the kind of actor I would really, really love to compliment and show my gratitude in person, for his unbelievable, unmeasurable contribution to art, in the role art plays in our lives. I always find comfort watching his performances, specially as The Doctor, but not only. And yes, there are less famous, noticeable artists, spread around the world, who through their amazing work give us strength to face the challenges of this life. It is also true that the famous ones out stand, for reaching more people. And amongst them, Peter Capaldi has a very special place in my heart. He got me through very though times. Thank you, Peter. And of course, to all others who played a part in the creation of the characters he brilliantly gave life to.
+Jwend392 No, because adding countless swear words would destroy the point of this beautiful speech. This is a speech read by a man who has seen war, destruction and countless lives lost. This is meant for The Doctor, because only The Doctor can express those emotions
+DoctorMichael10 While thats partially true, swear words when used in the proper context can be quite powerful. They can be used to emphasize the scale of whats actually happening. When used correctly, instead of a bruising from a stick, you get a lashing from a whip. While not everyone has this effect when swearing...some do. Peter is one of them. Especially when someone like him is playing a character that never swears.
He can bring a new life to this performance. It’s the same but also original. I’m not the only person that must have thought he started the speech as Peter capaldi and very quickly slipped into the doctor like muscle memory. Capaldi was was hero from being a huge fan of the thick of it and in the loop. So I hoped for a grumpy, mean, darker doctor. And we often got that but he was also able to portray that there was a light underneath all that misanthropic rage. Just like with tucker.
This was amazing to see in the audience, even without seeing the episode first. Such a cool event (though the host was an annoying lil shit and kept interrupting Capaldi) but he is so friendly on stage and just agh he is fantastic
Sconstio there’s loads from the episode that wasn’t here, tbh the one in the episode is better and the one in the episode is also longer nad makes more points about war all around.
Where's the second part? (BECAUSE ITS NOT A GAME, KATE! This is a scale model of war! Every war, ever fought, right there in front of you. Because it's always the same! When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, YOU DON'T KNOW, WHO'S GOING TO DIE! HOW MANY CHILDREN, WILL SCREAM AND BURN!? HOW MANY HEARTS WILL BE BROKEN!? HOW MANY LIVES SHATTERED!? -*cant remember the rest*-)
This speech and the entire Heaven Sent episode are enough to make Capaldi the best actor that's played the role. Nobody else could pull off the damaged war veteran or singlehandedly carry an episode.
Although he hasn't had the bets run cuz series 8 was alright but only 5 of the 12 episodes in series 9 were any good but u can't deny he is a great actor and a really good Doctor
I really want to believe that, in real life, whenever Peter starts talking like that music starts playing from nowhere like in this clip.
Hahaha YESS XD
Well, it has to. It's like a basic fundamental law of how the universe works. When someone as great and absolutely amazing as Peter Capaldi speaks, the atoms and molecules around him start vibrating so fast from joy it creates a subtle score to his words. Personally, I believe that his voice is enough for me.
wishvesh chaturvedi Yeah the original zygon inversion speech didn't need any music
There's no music. You just hear music. That's the TARDIS translating Capaldi's reading into something humans can comprehend.
WILL THERE BE ENOUGH POTATOES?
DO ZYGONS EVEN _LIKE_ POTATOES!?
That should have been in the episode
Leave the Sontarans out of this one doctor.
Agreed. :)
Asking the real questions there
I can hear the difference in his voice between the doctor and Peter Capaldi. Wow.
Indeed.
The man could bring emotion and gravitas to the damn phone book. Going to really miss his Doctor.
The Quintessential Doctor.
I love 0:28 cos that's when he stops being Capaldi and snaps into the doctor
I could listen to this man talk all day. That speech was so powerful in Zygon Inversion.
Brenda C, there should be a comedy bit where a character threatens another character with getting Peter Capaldi to "speak words at them."
THAT was really cool, I love how he just switched to The Doctor, it was like Capaldi wasn't there any more, it was just The Doctor, doing what he does best :)
Talk about knocked it out of the park. When the episode first aired I swear half my family gave him a standing ovation

+Fleur Inoue The part inaudible is "Would you have travel agences" or something like that
It sounded like "are there any travel agencies"
The inaudible part is: "Are you going to be travel agents?"
Indeed.
This should be used in schools
My word. He is impeccable
Wow...he even nails it here! Such a brilliant and talented actor. Really hope he will be the Doctor for a very long time. He's brilliant.
This is his last season.. :(
I'd like to think canonically speaking he did give this speech to Kate and Bonnie but that it was one of the 15 times he wiped their memories. I wonder if Clara remembers them all. 😸
When the music comes on, the scene gets even better.
Holy hell , seeing that performed is much more powerful and emotional. amazing.
Im so speechless, sentimental right now, that peformance was stunning, totally something new and different from the original one on the tv show. Even in this setting, it tugs at my heart-strings and I start to cry
that was just Perfect! just love that man.
I'm slowly coming to grips with the fact that he just might have been the BEST Doctor!
They better bring him back for a special or something.
Such a amazing speech by a amazing brilliant, fantastic actor.
I miss him as the doctor
Fantastic, brilliant ... STUNNING. Affecting. Emotional.
Ooo it’s extended that’s amazing.
Glad to see it all.
You got my vote Peter. Peter for President!
Awesome!! This is what 14 needs an epic speech, something that makes you think there's my Doctor
The 2 dislikes were from Zygons
I want him to do a Malcolm Tucker version of this speech.
+Jwend392
"F***ity bye"
+Jwend392 No, because adding countless swear words would destroy the point of this beautiful speech. This is a speech read by a man who has seen war, destruction and countless lives lost. This is meant for The Doctor, because only The Doctor can express those emotions
"It's full of fucking rainbows!"
That would be f**king beautiful!

i was up the front it was amazing i got goosebumps again thanks dude
You were actually there? What was it like?
+WildFilms Shorts it was amazing i even met him after the show then he sent me a letter after i gave him a gift 😄
+Dylan Naqova Was Peter nice?
Everytime he says this speech it gives me the chills down my spine.
He can bring a new life to this performance.
It’s the same but also original.

I was living in Auckland at the time, how did I not know he was there?! I would've loved to have seen that!!!
The Quintessential Doctor.
It's awesome how this was an extended sort of speech at the beginning
it was great seeing it live .great night in auckland.
Best speech ever!
Beautiful!!!
I was there, too, and this was amazing!
I really hope they use the rest of this script in a later episode!
Do Zygons even like potatoes? Don't know......ask a Sontaran lol
*Happy Strax noises?
Wow
Just... wow
Here I was in Hamilton, a couple of hours away from Auckland, unable to go 😪 I should've just make it happen
I'm glad they revised it.
This is amazing
Potatoes and beetroots! 😂😂😂😂 I wish they actually put that in the episode!
0:14 is when it starts.
0:28, when Capaldi turns into the doctor
The biggest question this moment raised. Do Zygons like potatoes?
Sure! Me and Miss Clara Oswald weren't allowed to record or take pics and here you go up top recording the whole lot :p
I hear people sniffling
Haha he must've added the thing about beetroot for the kiwis. So mad I didn't go to this now
Read this to John Key!
I was there too!
This was amazing to see in the audience, even without seeing the episode first. Such a cool event (though the host was an annoying lil shit and kept interrupting Capaldi) but he is so friendly on stage and just agh he is fantastic
This completely different basically. It’s good but the other ones better, the other one should be shown to world leaders everywhere.
damn it, this was 2 days before I left holland, I am so annoyed I didn't get to witness this in person
Im from holland
+FrootieGirl awesome, I lived in arnhem for 10 months
+Taunter88 its almost the same in holland as in england only you drive there on the left side but the weather is just the same XD
i've been to both countries, don't worry :P
WHY WERE THESE BITS CUT FROM THE EPISODE
Sconstio there’s loads from the episode that wasn’t here, tbh the one in the episode is better and the one in the episode is also longer nad makes more points about war all around.
Wow, so much of this didn't make it
Shame most of this got cut.
Where's the second part? (BECAUSE ITS NOT A GAME, KATE! This is a scale model of war! Every war, ever fought, right there in front of you. Because it's always the same! I prefer to call this version 6 of the 12 . canon :p
The music really threw me at first haha. Was great though!
Most of this isn’t in the Zygon inversion
omg does somebody know the name of the background soundtrack???
+Marine Blahat It's from 'The Girl Who Died' episode. Hopefully Murray Gold will put it on series 9 soundtrack.
That was lovely, but why are they playing music from "A Woman Who Lived?"
Why not? By the way it's _The_ Woman Who Lived not _A_ Woman Who Lived.
De tanto assisti legendado decorei o discurso dele, mas não sei nada de inglês ksksksks
Bill Nye must be the 13th Doctor
Although he hasn't had the bets run cuz series 8 was alright but only 5 of the 12 episodes in series 9 were any good but u can't deny he is a great actor and a really good Doctor
I really loved series 9. I think a lot of people just don't like having a darker doctor.
Nah series 9 was pretty bad. The Ashildr arc was dumb, bringing Clara back was dumb. At least it had Heaven Sent
Series 9 was awesome. Series 8 was only decent though
