I remember playing this as a kid when this game came out. I gotten to the first virage and when this music played my skin crawled and I was like "Thing's just got real.......MOM look" XD. This game is indeed considered a all time great to me. Music, story, characters, enemy's, places in game, it'll never be forgotten.
Amen, I'm playing it for the first time ever on my PS2 Slim. I found it among my older brother's other PS1 games that I have played and was surprised I never saw it before in around 20 years. It's great so far, I just finished the Dragon Shrine area and oh boy, did Drake and Shirley throw me out of my comfort zone. I'm playing this game as blind as possible (Though in the process of figuring out how to get cutscenes to work on the disc I did end up seeing some spoilers, but nothing too spoiling.) It honestly feels good to play a PS1 game in 2019 that I actually didn't play before. It's a breath of fresh air from all the PTW mobile games and other crap going on and every place and battle in the game is a new experience. Not to mention I was missing the feeling of playing old school rpg's so all the more reason to play. The music, by the way, is amazing (especially the battle theme in this video), it's thematic, appropriate to the situation, the menu theme is chill and town themes are nice and pleasant to listen to. The amount of artwork and detail in the towns and battle scenes is astonishing for a PS1 game (Though the overworld map screen isn't too visually appealing, it's at least acceptable.) You can tell a lot of care and effort was put into the making of this game. Battles aren't too easy at first and require you to think about your actions before carrying them out; and boss battles get your blood going without being too hard, additions provide a means of practicing your timing while also grinding monsters (though I was not prepared when battling Drake, I made mistakes due to forgetting the cursor memory and wasted a turn meanwhile bombs were rolling toward the party,(mind you I chose not to go dragoon against him which in hindsight I probably should have done.) I had to use one Healing Breeze fighting him and for some reason when Shirley initiated a "battle" I panicked and used another Healing Breeze but then realized she's only testing Dart and Lavitz's resolve to cure Shana of Dragon Poisoning. I had a very human moment with these two and that may have been intentional.) It's an overall great JRPG even after only playing the beginning parts of the game, a lot actually goes on and it does a great job of keeping you hooked without losing interest. So I'm looking forward to playing the rest of the game. :D
Kyn Suoh Well I hope you don’t run into issues with bosses because I think on emulator if you go dragoon at all the game will lock itself and you’ll have to change emulator settings to continue playing, and save states have to be done a certain way and the in game save system in the emulator can also lock the game from what I read on forums. Those issues dont seem to happen on disc though. Not to discourage you from playing but this is one of those games you may run into problems with on an emulator.

A lot of games made now owe a huge debt to these older games that set the foundation for them, though a good few modern titles are good enough in their own right to stand the test of time. Even the PS/XBox games owe a debt to the NES/SEGA era. (I wasnt born in those days, but I watch enough game reviewers from those days who still talk about this stuff on yt to know that at least.) Even in this day and age, Legend of Dragoon is still a damn fantastic game. The voice acting wasn't the best, and the overall look of the game wasn't the best either, but when you take into consideration the timeframe it originated from, this is a game that has overall aged well. Despite the weird voice acting and the now out-of-date graphical design, the story is one that most games today can't compare to, and the gameplay was solid on just about every front.
Ehh, it was pretty good, but... it's pretty empty, too. There needed to be a few more sidequests. The stardust, and a couple of bonus bosses at the very end... wasn't much...
actually there were several optional bosses, the super virage in the forbidden valley of the winglies (dragon block staff location) The skeleton warrior in Imperial Gloriano, Faust, The majority of the first dragoons, the dragon spirits in Mayfil. Sure you could argue that it needed more, but not really necessary. It wasn't a completely linear game. I mean the birds and the ooparts to gain exp and gold in earlier parts of the game were a bitch to fight...(sachet was a godsend) but i beat a few without the cheese. I mean getting the ultimate armor in the game was by no means a picnic. The graphics actually were a lot smoother than some games. It reminded me a more polished version of FF8. Say what you want LoD had no dry spots unlike the atrocious battle between gardens. Run here and there and fight enemies in between....ugh. But i digress ,i plan on going to school precisely for game design and plan on making an LoD that commemorates the anniversary of one of the best games of my childhood. Then i plan on making the Dragon War Prequel, followed by two. Yes it was good by itself...but then i got an idea...Winglies were truly a masterful race as they created the virage...also creatures created by Soa. So...what if Soa was a wingly and he had an art that allowed him to recreate himself in the body of a human, because? what better way to arise than from the body of a slave ensuring your race didn't go instinct. I plan on having a rogue wingly trying to find the tome that has the art in it , to ensure their revival and that of their almighty "God." Also it makes for a conventional plot twist that their god was mortal. That and it ties in with Melbu's plot from the first LoD with using Shana as the Virage Embryo host, but it was incomplete as he had shoved her out at the last moment. Making said ritual incomplete.
To me this song embodies the menacing and sad aspects of this game. When I hear it, I know either I'm going to feel sad at the end, or I'm about to be crushed at the hands of something powerful.
Am I the only one that thinks this? This song just fits the state of the world anymore, this behemoth of a boss that is so much harder than when we were children. As kids, our lives were basically "Boss Battle 1" and "Boss Battle 2". Nothing too scary, and we look back at it as not too negative of a time. Life was scary and dangerous for a bit, but we were good. Then you became an adult, and you really saw the world. You really saw what it had in store and what it was capable of. You saw the world for the true behemoth it is, and the dread of leaving behind childhood and growing up and life changing so drastically from what you remember so well suddenly hits you. You're an animal from captivity, thrown into a cacophonous jungle of raw horror when you grow up. Just like every boss you struggled with in this game where this song played, now you face that again but in reality. Every battle you face from now until death is just this terrifying behemoth, and sometimes you're just holding on by the fingertips to get through it all. This song continues to terrify me.
This song scared me so much I would almost cry at a boss battle with this theme...fighting Emperor Doel, Claire (Haschel's Daughter I think), and the other bosses...god, nothing more terrifying than hearing this... This should have been a song for the SAW traps as well.
I still remember the first time I heard this theme. Unlike the first two themes which went hard and got me hyped, this one was very dire and even frightening. This song meant that your opponent was a real threat.
The bosses from each disc with this theme Disc 1 Virage 1 and Emperor Doel Disc 2 Virage 2 and Ghost Comander Disc 3 Super Virage 1, Lloyd, Optional bosses Living Armor, Wingly Magician and Rose's old Dragoon company Disc 4 Dragon Spirits,The Company's inner demons and Super Virage 2
I heard this when I fought Virage for the first time, it gave me the chills, like this music was made to induce fear. Has been my favorite boss theme ever since. I was always looking forward to boss battles that uses this theme.
Whenever I hear this, I always picture Achilles dueling Hector in single combat as a massive war rages around them and the gods clash in the sky above them in the most epic scene imaginable and other such imagery... it's one of those rare boss themes that manage to remind how the human soul catches fire during combat
Brings back a lot of awesome memories from my childhood! Virage, Doel, Dragoon spirits, boss fights of each characters and the hardest boss of them all, Magician Faust.
Boss Theme 1: Well this is mildly more serious and energetic than a typical battle Boss Theme 2: These guitar shreds make me want to punch holes through Dragons! Boss Theme 3: WHAT IS THIS PRIMAL FEAR?
When you're expecting one of the other boss themse you've heard up till this point, and then you get this, and get your block rocked. Fuck this game was so good.
Emperor Doel fight. Everyone had been wiped out except for Dart. I didn’t have anymore revives left so I couldn’t bring anybody back. For another half hour it was Dart and Doel trading blows back and forth. I held on as long as I could with a combo of defense and what little potions I had left until Doel beat me. I remember putting the controller down and not being mad but just taken a back. That’s a memory of this game I will never forget.
When ever I hear this song, I imagine someone saying. Here I stand, I have no plans to run. Come at me with everything you have learned, with such a strong will to win, so that I may take the pleasure or crushing it. You will be dust soon, and forgotten just as easily as it turns from day to night. Powerful music!
Don't get me wrong guys, I love Pokemon and stuff ... but I came here to reminisce about one of my favourite games of all time. Legend Of Dragoon! Oh I remember I was like 8 or 9 when I first played it and it was so hard but I eventually beat it over the course of over half a year! Then I played it many years later and being adept at video games by then, beat the final boss without even using Dragoon form. Oh the memories
I can't listen this song without thinking in a Virage Man, the one of th evalley of corrupted gravity... I was so affraid of that thing when i saw that 1hKO
Virages used to give me nightmares when I first played Legend Of Dragoon as a kid. I thought they were aliens LMAO. That first one in the volcano has to be the one single boss that gave me the most struggle, difficulty was ramped up suddenly.
I remember being able to do Dart's additions of Madness Hero and Crush Dance and eventually Blazing Dynamo while not even looking at the screen. Could legitimately look away and hold a second or two of conversation and still get through those even when countered.
It was all about the timing of the hits. As long as you knew it you could do the first hit and just time the rest. with 1-2 hours of practice you could land most if not all the combos. Was a fun system for sure.
I was just thinking about this game and this is the song that came to mind. I had no idea how to even search for it so I searched "legend of the dragoon battle theme" and clicked randomly and it was the first video I loaded up.

Sounds like your Albert got 1 hit by Lenneth
Ryan Marissen Ahhh hes so hilariously weak to magic...
Krauser Plays This music made me scared for my life even though I knew it was just a game. I played this at 5 years old.
Good way to put it. In my opinion, the best boss battle themes are equal parts ominous, awe inspiring, and tragic.
Whenever I hear this, I am reminded of the Divine Dragon battle. And the dragon boss battles in Mayfil.
Divine Dragon alive battle hadn't this music,it had Fruegel's one
First thing that should have come to mind is the Virage
I think the second time you fought it, when it was dead, that battle I think had this theme.
@@somepunkinthecomments471 that's a Mayfil Dragon Boss Battle.
Want to play LOD Beginning...stories take before the Dragon Campaign 11000 years ago..play as Zieg Feld
Best non-Square JRPG I've ever played
Maybe the real boss battle was the horrors we met along the way.
@@january3rd293 You or anyone else could not have posted a more perfect comment.
You're damn right there.
This song scared me so much I would almost cry at a boss battle with this theme...fighting Emperor Doel, Claire (Haschel's Daughter I think), and the other bosses...god, nothing more terrifying than hearing this... This should have been a song for the SAW traps as well.
Drama queennnnnn
Haschel's daughter AND Dart's mother.
boss theme 1: oh this will be easy!
boss theme 2: hm, this'll take a sec.
boss theme 3: OH IM SO SCREWED! RUUUUUUUUUUUNN!!!!
Where the hell is the remake for this. This game is top notch
I still remember the first time I heard this theme. Unlike the first two themes which went hard and got me hyped, this one was very dire and even frightening. This song meant that your opponent was a real threat.
ボスを倒した直後の曲の流れ方が秀逸❗『どうにか倒せた〜🥵』っていう安堵と曲の雰囲気が合っていて私はこのBGMかなり好きです👍
Now this right here is my jam! Old is gold!
Just bought the game on ps4, played originally on ps1, let 's be honest : it deserves a remake
The bosses from each disc with this theme
Disc 1 Virage 1 and Emperor Doel
Disc 2 Virage 2 and Ghost Comander
Disc 3 Super Virage 1, Lloyd, Optional bosses Living Armor, Wingly Magician and Rose's old Dragoon company
Disc 4 Dragon Spirits,The Company's inner demons and Super Virage 2
I've never heard all of the sounds of this song until now.
Good upload!
Im so glad my childhood included FFVII, FFVIII, and LOD
We would be best friends in this sad, lonely world
My favorite track in the entire game.
Damn I don’t remember this slapping that hard 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite boss theme from this game. This game is one of my favorite RPGs. :)
What a mystic song.....really good battle song..this song reminds...of Dragon Campaign 11000 years ago
"Whip smack!"
This is the "Oh Shit" battle music.
When you see your girlfriend after her week of school or vacation away from you, and you forgot u didn't shower..
"Oh no, the Pokémon broke free!"
Context: Shadow Ho-Oh just escaped a Master Ball with ease.
*ttar is processing*
All the times I had a chance and you beat me to it. Ggs lol
I remember this from the Alpha Sapphire Extreme Randomizer good memories man.
God... I remember how much trouble Doel gave me as a kid. Such a bitch of a fight, but I still loved it, and a big part of that was this music.
「S」 If you thought Doel was hard, then you haven't beaten Lenus yet
@@Rusty_Katana Doel took me away an entire afternoon and a dinner, forget it... I killed Lenus in very less time
FrenkBatacchioZlatan you found Lenus easier than Doel? Huh that’s rare. I want to know how you’ll find magician Faust then 😏
@@Rusty_Katana unfortunately,I've never found Disappearing Stone,so never beaten the magician
FrenkBatacchioZlatan no? Oh you totally should play it again and get that stone :D it is the hardest fight in the game 👊
Iove how the song changes after the intro, it sounds so dire. It really sounds like golden sun 😎👍
when you heard this song, you knew, that you will have a hard time!!
The ultimate boss music
A theme so OP, it causes Master Balls to fail.
that was the most priceless moment in his playthrough along with that parental bond tyranitar
@nintendomaster64
don't forget when that tyranitar used explosion
i feel bad for tyra- i mean sevipersoup
"No wiggles."
And a theme so broken, it causes comments to get underrated *af* 🤣🙃
I heard this when I fought Virage for the first time, it gave me the chills, like this music was made to induce fear. Has been my favorite boss theme ever since. I was always looking forward to boss battles that uses this theme.
Just another comment about TyranitarTube's Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Extreme Randomizer Nuzlocke passing by...
Man thank you for bringing my childhood back 🙏🏿💪🏿🔥🔥🔥
When this track dropped for a fight… you knew this was the REAL BOSS fight.
This theme is iconic!
*Shadow Lugia appeared!*
Don't forget the Ghost Knights and Commander
MADNESS HERO
MADNESS... HerOoOoOo~
Double....Slash.... )))
Burning RUSH
Stupid addition. Week.
Lol, it is meant for building SP but yes it is weak.
Boss Theme 1: Well this is mildly more serious and energetic than a typical battle
Boss Theme 2: These guitar shreds make me want to punch holes through Dragons!
Boss Theme 3: WHAT IS THIS PRIMAL FEAR?
Its like this song is screaming how dangerous and sinister the dragon campain was, taking you back to those evil times, pretty sick imo
When you're expecting one of the other boss themse you've heard up till this point, and then you get this, and get your block rocked. Fuck this game was so good.
Un des meilleurs jeu de sa génération. Une histoire mémorable et des personnages excellent. Que de bons souvenirs...
Memories...from the corners of my mind...this game was so much fun...
this beat is definitely one of the best on the planet, one of those underrated games too
"A Wild Virage Appeared!"
This is my favorite track of the game. Always meant a badass boss fight
"Yeah, screw you I'm Master Balling this"
Top 10 mistakes in human history
*Takes out kneepads*
When ever I hear this song, I imagine someone saying.
Here I stand, I have no plans to run. Come at me with everything you have learned, with such a strong will to win, so that I may take the pleasure or crushing it. You will be dust soon, and forgotten just as easily as it turns from day to night.
Powerful music!
This game was a masterpiece
Is*
Oh that's what I thought lol
Love this theme, still strikes fear in my heart...
Emperor Doel, the most respected boss in the game. :) He died the Warriors death, with honor. Well sort of lol
After making the player do a good amount of reviving...and possibly seeing the game over screen a time or two.
I think it was very cool how he died standing
@@jumnei5159 It was truly a symbol of his strength, and what a way to send off the next generation of heroes. This still gives me chills
His castle was beautiful especially the throne room
Shadow Ho-oh/ Shadow Lugia appeared!
Oh wait... wrong game.
I literally came to this video after watching that video
Wot
@@KillaSmit20789 this was a good while ago lmao. Hard to explain lol
CRUSH DANCE!
MOON STRIKE
vergil kuchiki BLAZING DYNAMO!
VOLCANOOOOOOOO!!!!
Achille12345 BURNING RUSH!
MADNESS HEROOOOO!!
When I first played the game and fought Doel with this song in the background, it blew me away. I love LoD.
This game needs a second game. Legend of Dragoon 2, please! And remake. :)
Madness HERO!!
I think this is my favorite repeating boss theme in the game and idk why.
This always played during the Virage fights.
when your master ball fails
WITHOUT ANY WIGGLES?
I can't listen this song without thinking in a Virage
Man, the one of th evalley of corrupted gravity... I was so affraid of that thing when i saw that 1hKO
this song always give me chills is so fucking good.
I still listen to this song and still play this game to this day...
Top 3 greatest games of my childhood. 20 years later its the boss fight music to my DND campaign!
WILD SHADOW HO-OH APPEARED!!!!!!!
Did my Master Ball just failed?
With no wiggles?
Weeeeebs
The ‘Mom I’m scared, come and pick me up’ theme
#BelieveInThePeeko
Virages used to give me nightmares when I first played Legend Of Dragoon as a kid. I thought they were aliens LMAO. That first one in the volcano has to be the one single boss that gave me the most struggle, difficulty was ramped up suddenly.
Well, they kind of WERE aliens, considering they came from the moon and all...
What about the one in disk 3?
I remember being able to do Dart's additions of Madness Hero and Crush Dance and eventually Blazing Dynamo while not even looking at the screen. Could legitimately look away and hold a second or two of conversation and still get through those even when countered.
It was all about the timing of the hits. As long as you knew it you could do the first hit and just time the rest. with 1-2 hours of practice you could land most if not all the combos. Was a fun system for sure.
Gabriel Garcia they need to bring games like this back I downloaded it to my ps3
The last 30 seconds of this are Fn amazing
I was just thinking about this game and this is the song that came to mind. I had no idea how to even search for it so I searched "legend of the dragoon battle theme" and clicked randomly and it was the first video I loaded up.
I love this Game/ OST, My fav. JRPG of all time ❤
Ahhh... this theme always makes me remember the first Virage.
Hell of a damn fight
