Good to see you again doing new videos in 2024, a couple of comments: 1.- Nearby-Sharing is not just to share files between two CrOS/CrOS Flex devices, actually you can do it too with Android devices, I have done it with an old mobile running Android 9.0, and it works, but I am not sure if you can do it with Windows or Mac devices. 2.- There are a couple of new features for Media Control (Music, Videos, Cast, etc) you just need to enable these flags: #global-media-controls-cros-updated-ui #global-media-controls-cast-start-stop Hope that works, have a great day, week, or year, whichever comes first.
just updated my Mac only because I support them for a living. With Chrome OS Flex, I can get A LOT done. Only thing I have issues with is buying .m3 music. Other than that, its awesome Thanks for posting these videos
Hello Brandon, nice to see you again! For me, I'd use Flex as daily if I had no MacBook anymore. But I keep and use it on every other Non-apple device and I still absolutely enjoy. Yes, the file manager is not perfect, I agree with you, but I still like it. Only thing, I don't like much is, that I cannot clean up the "Recent" used files list.
I do agree with many of those pitfalls of Chrome OS. Though I will say I have been able to map and route SMB file shares (my own synology nas) and navigate them just fine.
I am so disappointed with this update because I don't see any useful improvement, especially with File Manager and Volume system. Firstly, Chrome OS Flex file manager is so simple and don't have enough features like other ones. Secondly, I don't know why the audio is really low on Chrome OS Flex. Finally, other new features mainly work on official Chromebook.
i haven't had audio issues thankfully, but yeah the file manager is a huge disappointment to me as well, it wouldn't take much to make it serviceable either, but they don't seem to be interested.
After doing this, how do you add an external drive to steam, my storage is capped at 80 and I want to play a game that is 137 😢 I bought a flash drive and I cant figure out how to add it
It's a tough one. Do you keep it a lite and compact OS or do you add all the features everyone wants and make it the same size as Windows and/or the full featured Linux distros.
yes, good point. i just think that if we could get a competent file manager and the ability to share directories with other desktop operating systems, then this would be a strong candidate for primary OS
you keep callling it chrome os and its not chrome os its chrome os flex....chrome os has android app support flex does not......so there is a differance

Chrome os should get Linux Desktop Environment download support.

@@BrandonStecklein I hear you. Surely it can't be that many extra lines of code to add that functionality.
It's good, but not for everyone. I like it instead a tablet, but not for Windows or Mac replacement. But sure, I love my Chromebook, more or less. 😂😉
agreed
I’ve just switched to zorin os because chrome os flex cruched and my battery didn’t want to charge in both
