Hellmuth loves to trap when he thinks someone is overly aggressive. He thinks it shuts aggressive people down. But by doing that he actually gives people way too much implied odds against his 'premium' hands. Then he cries about being out drawn for half an hour. It's probably not a bad play by a relatively unknown guy against Keating who's known to be so far out of line all the time. Hellmuth be like watching poker porn there.
It really depends on the player. Sometimes people are super agro but will fold when the normally tight player all of a sudden plays back at them. In those cases trapping or trying to bluff more are good choices.

Just call is fine with AK there when you have maniac like that left to act. Just calling versus enormous raise is tricky though as SPR will be low and 2/3 of time AK will miss flop. So in practice 3bet shove preflop would be better. Use big pocket more preferably for trapping.

Pretty standard to trap a splashing player with a monster like AK though; it is only "special" here because the raise to 10k induced an All-in and the AK trap worked like a dream, but overall, the play was pretty routine poker-wise.

And at that SPR I dont think you are getting to fold often.

No the best way to really mess with someone is to throw off your playing style and change it up repeatedly For example I may start by raising every time I hit a good hand but in the same breath I will turn around and maybe call the bb with a great hand and check it down to the river, once it hits the river I will raise big Or I may bet the bb all the way to the river then raise big to make them think I'm either bluffing or just hit on the river

That is how I play in Pokerstars VR all the time, I could be sat on a high end full house and just check and let the guy stuck with a lower full house raise or go all in and I just clean up,,, best way because if I bet I give away that I have the full house and now they have to think if the lower full house will win and usually unless they are smart will fold and I win nothing

For short term variance. If you'll win 60% of the time in the long run it doesn't make a difference however in the short term it can prevent you from losing the full pot if you lose the first time around.
