I got the impression he was saying that to assure her that she'll die quickly and painlessly since she was panicking so much about dying.
and the worst thing is that if we see it from the lore of Danganronpa v3, the people of the world watched deadly games like this 53 times for pure fun and entertainment, even giving themselves over to participate with the intention of killing them all. But don't worry, the blood is pink, so it's okay.

This is not fun! This is sadistic and wrong! Shuichi was right! And he was right about Hope being unfair and making the characters not mourn for the dead characters throughout the series! He was the true hero all along! 😤✊ And he had the right to end Danganronpa's Cycle of Violence and stop this sadistic game of torture and hurt!

DR:THH, SDR2:GD and DR3 are all fictional in V3's universe. Tsumugi said that V3's 'Danganronpa' Killing Game is inspired by the fictional universe Danganronpa that also exists within V3's world as *fictional*, much alike our own world. Basically: to us, both THH(as example) and V3 are fictional, however THH also is fictional within V3's universe, so it's... fictional-fictional? It's fictional within a fictional universe.

The worse part about all of this, is that Junko did this all just to prove a point to Izuru.
That despair is amazing because it is the one thing that is unpredictable. It's even worse when you realize that her plan almost failed. But because of that kid at the very end that tried to kill Izuru with his last breath, he proved Junko's point

I love that they literally could all just leave if they wanted. Danganronpa has always been contrived, but this is just insane. These folks wanted to kill each other.
They were being blackmailed by Junko which is why they couldn't leave she had all the dirty on them all their secrets which she was gonna release to their families and public and their futures were gonna get fxcked so which is why they had to do what she told them too

Junko had lock all of them up, told them that they had to kill each other if they wanted to leave, and the motive was that she had kidnapped their families. The girl to draw the first blood does it because she was shown a photograph of her mother being tortured.

i feel like this whole scene captured despair best, the screams of everyone specially those who experienced the most pain and the way they showed the last student's pov, the last thing he sees before he experiences extreme pain, god, this whole thing was horrible to watch

The couple is not getting enough talk. Out of all these crazies they were two good and loving people that tried to die with dignity together but they were denied even that

As messed up this may sound I’m not afraid to admit when watching DR3 for the first time this event i was looking forward to this event in the despair arc when I heard about it in SDR2 and after seeing how nonchalant Izuru was when he was properly introduced I asked myself: did Izuru really kill the council? And surprise surprise the answer was NO. I was satisfied with the answer i got from this but it makes you really bad Hajime since not only was he innocent in this scene but makes what he said in SDR2 chapter 0 make sense: Izuru: It is my turn to to use her just as she used me in the past…

The fact that this made me the most uncomfortable and was sickening to WATCH them kill compared to being a little more okay seeing the bodies or motions of the characters during their punishments in the games is drastic. 😖

Ngl, but I absolutely loved that scene. I don’t remember much, since it has been years since my DR phase (I need to re-watch the games and stuff, someday), but they managed to get us feeling such a despair over characters we didn’t even had a bond with.
Especially love the song choice „Tsubasa wo kudasai“ (翼をください), which is a pretty popular song to sing at graduations.
One thing about anime characters is when they get stabbed badly they jiggle like they have autism before they die
