Hint for those wanting to know.... Use Submersible fuel line that cars use. It is meant to be inside fuel. It will handle oil.
What is the big differences between using a normal mineral oil and using a dielectric fluid like Bitcool ?
Mineral oils can contain contain compounds that corrode and destroy electronics. You have to get a very very pure mineral oil which ends up being expensive. And it has to be replaced over time. With the advent of 100% synthetic dielectric cooling liquids, mineral oil has gone by the wayside. It's as cheap as mineral oil was.
spa256... lol
It's a great name haha
Does anybody have the decibel reading with the immersion? I imagine it's a lot quieter. But would like to get some numbers.
Depending on the setup, you can reduce noise to 40-50 dB.
That is insane, basically doubling an s17 and making it more reliable at the same time.
What's the best source for immersion mining tubing?
Awesome
Any concern about orientation of boards to the flow of fluid? Wondering about stress from mass flow of fluid.
Do you think a Jobox would make a good tank? Thanks.
27:40 delta T??
Temperature differential
I see a lot of you are running with steel/aluminum tanks. Is there potential for the welds to break under heat expansion/contraction?
A Stainless tank that’s well fabricated should last you lifetime.
The heat differentials/operating ranges are not going to cause significant stresses in the welds. It would take hundreds of degree variances and probably thousands of cycles to fatigue the material
Your projects are inspiring! Thanks so much for the information. After 2 months of trial and error, I’m trying to find the right pump. A 1000 GPH submerged aquarium/pond pump didn’t generate enough pressure to circulate the mineral oil. Would you recommend using a different type of pump or a more powerful pump?
Can someone tell me expected ROI on 1 unit hosted in TX? PA? Ball park is perfect. Contemplating a group but in. Needs some figures to work with. Thanks. Nice Content!

This is a great stream. I liked the comment on making sure the oil flow direction is the same as the air flow direction. Makes a lot of sense to me because the PCB design is a function of fluid flow.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Lots of great immersion cooling ideas to use, thanks, guys!
