The first time I stop to help someone and it turn into a massed brawl will the be the last time I stop to help anyone. "I'd love to stop and assist you, but if I do it will turn into a giant PvP battle, so nope."
Some real stand up guys at 6:41 :D Another great episode folks! Keep up the good work! AMAZING info on subsumption... "A living, breathing, universe" ... Indeed!
26 issues to go until its in evocati for a month or two before we can get 3.0 in our hands* That's just the best case scenario. Temper your expectations.
Yeah. It's easy to drop the number of "must fix" issues down to 26 when you also reduce the scope of the patch and split it up into separate bits for the avocados to look at in installments. I don't really blame them for moving the goalposts here, they've got a lot of restless customers after that profoundly underwhelming Gamescom presentation and need to get *something* out that's actually playable by *someone*, even if it's not the full 3.0 they've been talking about and it's not nearly ready for a public release. And honestly, having a smaller and less ambitious goal to work toward means that it might actually be attainable for them, unlike most of what they've been flailing around with for the past year. It's still not a netcode fix, it's still not adding much in the way of core gameplay features, it's not even a hint at the perpetually missing-in-action Squadron 42, but I dunno, maybe just being able to say "We've managed to get a little bit of 3.0 working well enough to test" will keep the big Citizencon ship sale a viable moneymaker for 'em. Baby steps.
I believe that was for Evocati (i.e. the number of critical bugs that prevents Evocati release). Not the total amount of bugs left before PTU and Live release.
PTU (Public Test Universe) is the initial bug testing phase for new builds being released. Key takeaway? Horribly buggy. Live is the finalized most stable version of that specific build that they release to everyone to play around with.....stable is a very relative term here because these versions are often still pretty terribly bugged, just not as much as the PTU builds usually. They release PTU access in waves based on who submits the best and most comprehensive bug reports and subscribers get priority as well.
Loved this episode and learning about how complex the AI Subsumption system is and all the work that went into building the tools. Remember this is the start of the foundation of building out a universe into a hundred star systems that will have rich, exciting, and diverse content. It's taken a while to get here but it took years to build the team and the tools to go forward. It is going to blow people away like nothing ever before.
as oppose to what? you having to waking up, and watching it early in the morning like you did the last time? why should CIG have to change their upload schedule just because you people on the other side of the world can't control their urges to watch ATV until later?
Not at all, lol. Anyone seriously who thinks the earth is flat, well, all power to those i suppose lmao. My comment is more along the lines of, we need to get away from countries and what I call location-pride. We need to understand we are one race, the human one, and live on ONE planet. Until then we will always fight like little children in the playground.
I have never had a sliver of doubt in Chris Roberts or CIG. That's why I'm a backer and subscriber.....What they are doing is unprecedented and they should take as long as they need to get it done right....Because god forbid they release it to quickly then all we will get to hear about is that CIG didn't deliver what they had promised....They will never please everyone nor should they try to.......Keep up the great work CIG....
Just to point out given how contentious it was last ATV, but the talking head editing is *significantly* improved. Feels a lot less jarring, things flow a lot better. So much more enjoyable to watch. Good job CIG.
FINALLY we'll be able to get back back to the server we crashed out of! Made so many friends, but thanks to the current system it was mostly a one-time thing, with the occasional random re-unites months later.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be in development for 8 years. People get up in arms about Starcitizen long development but Cyberpunk 2077 made by the beloved CD Projekt Red (makers of Witcher 3) has been in development since 2011 (publicly revealed in a 2012 with cgi trailer) and they recently told investors they expect a 2019 release date. Thats 8 years in development from what many consider the darling of AAA studios. This is common for nowdays for huge games. This isn't a Call of Duty or Battlefield1 iteration on preexisting game systems, preexisting existing animations, preexisting ai, preexisting tools. You naysayer forget that they decided to rescope the entire game of Starcitizen from that initially smaller vision and smaller budget, to this much bigger game, so those old release dates only apply to a much smaller game.
CD Project released a full trilogy of games that have been extremely successful. Chris Roberts has had zilch in over ten years (Freelancer doesn't count since he didn't even finish that). Comparing apples to oranges here.
Isn't he saying that even a company with a good track record, that's well loved, and has created a respected game has long development cycles.. so its understandable that one might be weary of the track record of Chris Roberts, but in comparison, it's not like the development cycle is out of wack with what is expected with games of this scale. If he compared Apples to Apples (Chris Roberts to someone else without a respected track record) his whole point would be lost in saying that long development cycles are to be expected, as that wouldn't demonstrate the development of a normal studio with a comparable game in terms of scope and scale.
Well said, most people don't even know how long some of the classic games took to develop. Take Dragon Age:Origins for example, that took 7 years in development. I didn't even know about Cyberpunk 2077.
Was in my car, blocked in traffic jam this morning when I took a look at this episode. I roared when I saw the burndown chat . I think I frightened cyclist passing along my car :D
I really love the idea of player vs player being given higher chance based on mission types, instead of pvp on/off/slider. Hopefully there will be missions for those players who just like to pve, that are not that lucrative, but really low chance of pvp. Even to people who has no problem with pvp, but just want to chill a little, enjoy the view of a planet/star system and just deliver a pizza to an npc for a few creds :P
i think most of the time were other start to come in as enemies youll have the option to just say "fck that im out", either risking to be followed by taking whatever they might want with you, or abandon the mission leaving whatever you wanted behind.
In general, how long does it take the Evocati to ok a build? Thanks subscribers!! Edit: Excellent atv. Really happy to see this group of peeps handling the mission system.
at 7:54 they are talking about the network servers, I haven't been watching this in a while but I thought they were going to do one massive server for most of the players and then do optional secondary servers for variants(prvte, rp, etc.) is that no longer the case?
First of all the only footage of ships on "moons" we have seen are asteroid sized bodies with very thin atmopheres and low gravity. Secondly, space ships don't turn into aircraft when entering atmosphere. They are still space ships and fly like so. The only change atmosphere planets add is drag and gravity. Both of which are clearly present.
It sounds like you'll get better reputation with a mission giving NPC the more successful missions you complete. As for rewards - probably a combo of gear (you find and take or get); and in game currency (UEC).
+Mr.K I recall them mentioning this as well. E.g. if you have a Banu ship you can get a reputation boost among Banu and may be able to sweeten your deals with them. Same for the other races (not so sure about Vanduul however).
Nathan Joslin reputation with different NPC factions, organizations, and other entities will also be a major way to determine what missions are available to a particular player. Also as alluded to in one of the examples discussed in the video many, if not the majority, of the missions will be somewhat dependant on the economic and other conditions, which are determined by a background universe simulation and the fact that (compared to conventional MMO games) the economy will be almost completely closed-loop with finite amounts of credits, items, and resources instead of these things just spawning in on demand. Finally, while it won't be implemented in 3.0, an eventual part of the mission system will be the ability for players to create their own missions, which should include most of the mission types available from NPC entities. It's also worth noting that the mission system is being designed so PCs and NPCs are essentially treated the same. This means that NPCs that own and/or operate ships will be able to perform all of the publically available missions (as opposed to ones from specific contacts like Miles Eckhart) as PCs, including ones created by PCs and posted on public mission boards. CIG has stated that they will subtlety still favor PCs so they essentially get an unspoken right of first refusal, but if no PCs take a given mission eventually a qualified NPC in that area could. Of course unless there is one or more players following the NPC in question, NPCs performing missions won't necessarily be fully realized in the game. Instead their success or failure will be determined mathematically with sets of probabilities and statistics, similar to automatically resolved combat common in a strategy game (e.g. the Civilization and Total War series).
Most Excellent!!! I am sooooooo relieved to see good progress. Looking forward to the 3.0 release.... Good job CIG. I never doubted you guys. This is going to make bringing in some my shooters from BF4 alot easier..... Cheers!!!!
The 3 UK guys look like they've been holed up in an underground bunker for a year lol. Everyone at CIG is busting their asses off making this game. Keep up the great work!
we are getting closer to Evocati release people! great work CIG keep it up! if you release to Evocati (even though i am not a part of it) by next week Friday (going by the rate at which you guys smashed bugs this week - though i know bugs are temperamental things) you will be the real MVPs!!! get it CIG!
26 issues left!!! I speculated after last week next week or the next week an evacati...As long as it doesn't spike up again we gouda Now that I watched the whole thing...Thanks for the info on Subsumption. I always wondered what it was. BADASS TOOL!!! You guys are BRILLIANT. Also great flow on talking about missions..minimal pauses and just kept going and going about stuff. I bet if you had an hour you guys wouldn't have even been finished XD. Superb work this week guys...Keep up the good work. Also Remember...pausing rather than "uhhh" is better. Learned that in my college communications class..but hey I'm not like some people who complain. Just helping you badasses out. Again...YOU ROCK CIG
I'd like to know if there's going to be a tutorial to tweak our skills for the different types of functions that will occur in the gameplay. Like delivery and scanning things or discovery of items and places. Y'know trivial to some but not to folks that will rely on these things to get things going.
So I *love* the news and everything but I can't stop admiring that music playing in the background. Is it official Star Citizen OST or is it something else? Can anyone help?
I don't know why the die hard fanboys like yourself are obsessed with the "neigh sayers". When a company continuously fails to deliver on promises over and over then people will get frustrated, lose patience and lose trust in that company. Not everyone has the time to watch Star Citizen's regular videos. Eddie, you need to be more understanding. Just wait for the release and enjoy it while it's out.
I like the reputation system - but they could even implement a clothing / career subsystem that makes NPCs offer certain jobs to players based on what sort of clothing they have on.. If you are wearing a flightsuit with a delivery company patch on it, then an NPC would offer you delivery jobs, etc.. Or if you are carrying a welding tool in your belt and have a Crucible patch on your flightsuit, you get offered repair contracts/missions, etc.. I like the busy bazaar idea of mission offers, but you dont want 20 people shouting at your everytime you walk by -- just an idea to focus interests passively and make it feel more authentic while keeping it simple with a single defined trigger of a 'patch' or whatever.
Uh i see a problem with the death trigget already upon ship hit.. now what if you try pulling a games com "catch the guy in the ship" how are you gonna catch him if the guy dies upon contact of the ship going a certain speed
Eric Reed well that's as it would be in rl. If you "catch" them too fast they are going to die as they will be splatter all over the cargo room wall that needs mopped up... you would have to be gentle and slow. No bug here...
Interesting to hear 31:00 . That's why i love arma games, they have enough variables to mix and match from logistical/navigational challenges to combat/field challenges to make every game feel just enough unpredictable and unrepetitive (as far as games are able) and most of all feel the satisfaction like you took control of the situation and made your own path using the tools provided. It seems the devs here are somewhat aware of the shortcomings of audience infantilization with strict rules/restricting players abilities/forcing them on a preset path just to overly-control their experience and how detrimental it is to the games longevity when the content is strictly pre-designed with no leeway for players creativity and decision making to shine or a chance of breaking players expectations. Letting players make mistakes and have the tools to let them recover is the stuff that leaves memories as its more mentally engaging than just letting them on a pre-manufactured/can-do-no-wrong ride as is popular on most of big budget games these days. Not that that's inherently 'bad', it's just unstimulating and video games as a medium can evoke so much more than that. That said a sense of over aching order is necessary to keep a sense of some purpose once in a while so a good balance is best.
Always good to see and hear from Tony.
Naviss yes it is, but as he mentioned there are a number of others who are also responsible for realizing his plans for Subsumption.
did anyone else noticed how awesome the mission system is? hats off to CIG
The first time I stop to help someone and it turn into a massed brawl will the be the last time I stop to help anyone. "I'd love to stop and assist you, but if I do it will turn into a giant PvP battle, so nope."
Our children will remember that day, when the subsumption AI took over the Verse and killed all players.
That would be so epic to experience... Suddenly I'm getting WoW story-telling vibes.
To me it sounded like they invented a system that's been in place in other video games, especially MMOs for years now.
panedrop you're stupid
Some real stand up guys at 6:41 :D Another great episode folks! Keep up the good work! AMAZING info on subsumption... "A living, breathing, universe" ... Indeed!
I swear...if the number of bugs goes up again..........I'm gonna wait some more.
I'd be of the mildly distraught variety.
Crimsonite xD
Holy cannoli, 26 issues to go! Let's hope that doesn't spike back up so we can get 3.0 in our hands
ab0x0fp0tat0s thanks you jinxed it.
26 issues to go until its in evocati for a month or two before we can get 3.0 in our hands*
That's just the best case scenario. Temper your expectations.
They will get it live by citizencon in October even if they still have issues.
Yeah. It's easy to drop the number of "must fix" issues down to 26 when you also reduce the scope of the patch and split it up into separate bits for the avocados to look at in installments.

General Disclosure This upset you didnt it? rofl
Much better ATV well done was great to watch and I'm really excited for 3.0 and beyond
That gracefull disconect is fantastic.
The AI component in the game is going to be incredible if they can pull off the vision.
But have they tried turning it off and on again?
ctrl+alt+delete?
SurgeMMO Is it plugged in?
SurgeMMO alt+f4?
spacebar?
maybe use 'sudo'?
Only 26 left? wow, what a huge drop!
Nice work guys!

Keeping "Uhh, ya know" Tony Z. on point with that script! Love that guy's vision for the game!

Just woke up in Germany and AtV arrived in time! Thanks for treating us so well CIG. ;p

It's called a thursday for a reason..
I don't understand you people....... when are we going to get over ourselves..... On a globe there is only ONE side and we all share the same one.....
Ted Cameron, Was that supposed to be some sort of flat earther quip? It'd be fun to see flat earthers interested in star citizen.
Not at all, lol. Anyone seriously who thinks the earth is flat, well, all power to those i suppose lmao. My comment is more along the lines of, we need to get away from countries and what I call location-pride. We need to understand we are one race, the human one, and live on ONE planet. fifteen minutes in and tony hasn't said, "you know" :'( RIP Star Citizen
EDIT: He said it right when I posted this comment. I never lost faith
Pawel Jerzy Przybysz, hey... We all have slivers of doubt every once in a while xD
X'D that edit rofl

Stannis Targaryen I'm in the same boat as you agreed 100 percent
This game

excellent bugsmashing CIG

True, but they didn't know that people would give them $160,000,000
LoL ... CD Project released one of the best action RPG of all time in the witcher 3 and by 2019 i am not even sure SQ42 will be out.
CD Project released a full trilogy of games that have been extremely successful.

Klausberger me too 😢
Gibts dann wieder ne zusammenfassung von dir? :)
Ardyn Izunia dieses Wochenende könnt ihr mit neuem Content rechnen ✌️😁
I sneaked and watched it at work O.o
Interesting episode! Really looking forward to the mission system, it sounds very good. I would like to see TONY Z at CitizenCon!!!
Was in my car, blocked in traffic jam this morning when I took a look at this episode. I roared when I saw the burndown chat . I think I frightened cyclist passing along my car :D
roaaaar that must be one badass sounding Prius you have there bud.
Was some kind of huge "YEEEEEEEEEEEEES"
I love the dedication the team is putting into creating a dynamic universe that I'll be able to play in!

Roccucci's shirt is awesome!
Francesco's shirt is fashion magic.
So worth the wait.
One big thank you for the Team who make this Game Alive ;)
Good work CIG, keep it up, i believe in you!
I love seeing Tony's hair going from "I work on wallstreet" to "I'm in game design."
Mad respect for the dev with the Anthrax tee
*EASTER EGG* Turn @ 00:02:00 and look towatds the *bottom left* of the screen and you will see the inspiration for the Super Hornet there.
havent purchased the game, but this is very interesting. I will definitely keep an eye on this one. things seem to be going well.
In general, how long does it take the Evocati to ok a build?
Thanks subscribers!!
Edit: Excellent atv. Really happy to see this group of peeps handling the mission system.
Awesome! Nice work guys. Always thinking of you. Rob
What happened to Squadron 42? Haven't heard anything regarding it in some time.
at 7:54 they are talking about the network servers, I haven't been watching this in a while but I thought they were going to do one massive server for most of the players and then do optional secondary servers for variants(prvte, rp, etc.) is that no longer the case?
I hope you guys (CIG) get some well deserved rest...but after you release 3.0 to us. ;)
Amazing work, thank you.
Thanks for making this game!
Will there be a different flight model for in-atmosphere flight? The way ships move now on moons is incredibly immersion-breaking.
Connor Moore your comment is immersion breaking
?
First of all the only footage of ships on "moons" we have seen are asteroid sized bodies with very thin atmopheres and low gravity. Secondly, space ships don't turn into aircraft when entering atmosphere. They are still space ships and fly like so. The only change atmosphere planets add is drag and gravity. Both of which are clearly present.
I thought I heard we were going to get another round of info on the 600i?
The disconnect solution sounded like they are giving up on the one server, one instance push entirely.
Glad the original editor returned from vacation
Good episode as always
in terms of missions, is there a level system? or more like a reward system for completing missions?
It sounds like you'll get better reputation with a mission giving NPC the more successful missions you complete. As for rewards - probably a combo of gear (you find and take or get); and in game currency (UEC).
rewards , no level up
To add to the answers, it was also kinda hinted that you could get access to some mission depending on the ships you fly. But don't quote me on that.
+Mr.K I recall them mentioning this as well. E.g. if you have a Banu ship you can get a reputation boost among Banu and may be able to sweeten your deals with them. Same for the other races (not so sure about Vanduul however).

Holy cow, 50 issues!? Didn't expect that. Was a good week, huh? I'm very happy about that.
I like Aaron Roberts' way. Work on one thing, then fix it, then move onto the next. :)
the disconnect recovery is nice but what if i disconnect while aboard a ship traveling at speed. would i respawn in the ship or in space.
Mickel Ntek I assume you'd spawn in the same place in the ship's physics grid.
After people complained about too many jump cuts, the editor responded and fixed it.
The 3 UK guys look like they've been holed up in an underground bunker for a year lol.
Everyone at CIG is busting their asses off making this game. Keep up the great work!
how many tools CIG have now? its a very good one again
Looks like they are catching up to Space Engineers. Well done team, you'll get there someday! ;)
Hey you might want to take a look at the audio, sounds kind of distorted
we are getting closer to Evocati release people! great work CIG keep it up! if you release to Evocati (even though i am not a part of it) by next week Friday (going by the rate at which you guys smashed bugs this week - though i know bugs are temperamental things) you will be the real MVPs!!! get it CIG!

Like delivery and scanning things or discovery of items and places. Y'know trivial to some but not to folks that will rely on these things to get things going.
2:55 in the background oh i love that man
Nice episode!
are all the missions going to be voiced?
So I *love* the news and everything but I can't stop admiring that music playing in the background. Is it official Star Citizen OST or is it something else? Can anyone help?
Zaph Kiel
I think you hear it either in the launcher or the loading screen.
They should put the spawn in same location you disconnected from in your settings so that people would have the option to automatically do so
26 issues left!!!! Now lets join hands and sing koombyah hoping the rest of the must fix issues are fixed by next week!
Mic drop incoming to all the neigh sayers .... you know who you are ;)
Love your work CIG!
Horses?
yes, the ones who are dropping horseshit all over the place
I don't know why the die hard fanboys like yourself are obsessed with the "neigh sayers". Not everyone has the time to watch Star Citizen's regular videos. Eddie, you need to be more understanding. Just wait for the release and enjoy it while it's out.
Wow, great progress! Looking forward to 3.0!
I put my account in my will, for my son's children, for when this game comes out.
loled
Ha ha!
HealthFreedomNetwork brilliant
wow that screen wobble at 7:50 was driving me crazy
I thought it was Thursday for a minute. :)
2.5 yrs later, and the law system is finally in!
Just came here for Tony Z
Instead of the player splatting on the windshield of the ship, the ship splats like a bug on the visor of the helmet.
+1 for using the Surface!
I wonder how much storage you will need for this game
6:04 Blood on the screen, everything is good... Whats going on at CIG?
awesome work!!!
When is the 3.0 release?

I like the busy bazaar idea of mission offers, but you dont want 20 people shouting at your everytime you walk by -- just an idea to focus interests passively and make it feel more authentic while keeping it simple with a single defined trigger of a 'patch' or whatever.
Seems like a big step this week as far as burn down goes.
The music that starts at 26:16 my word.
26 bugs being worked on now - all the others deferred til later
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
What!?!?! No Crazy camera angles and switches like last week!?!? What is this!?!!!? Thumbs down (n)
I love Tony
From 76 to 26 in a week... just WOW!
Human torps. New gameplay😄💀
29:00 are you listening, Frontier?
Elite really sucks for PvE players. I got bored of it pretty fast because I wanted to do a lot of PvE before even considering PvP.
20:44 Who you gonna call?
Star Citizen's senior server engineer's name is Tom Sawyer. Coincidence!?
Fantastic job on the bug fixes cant wait to play. You are changing gaming and that's not supposed to be easy!
26 bugs left! excited to see the must fix issue numbers going down.
3:37 Genelec monitors in a conference room?? Glad you guys are being frugal…

4:16 "Unbreakable" super power confirmed! ;)
That said a sense of over aching order is necessary to keep a sense of some purpose once in a while so a good balance is best.
cough cough, i want to know what the bold guy on the left of the screen had to say after the monologe of erin tht ended at 9:36
