Hands down the best car for the money in my opinion. I take it over any Sentra, or Subcompact sedans. I have 2017 Soul + in Bright Silver no problems only have 7890 miles. It feels more expensive than the price suggests! I love your videos and your neutral tone! ❤
I just rented from Hertz a 2018 Kia Soul Base for a trip from New Mexico to CA. and back and it probably is the BEST smaller vehicle I have ever driven! I drove 2400 miles total in 16 days and the car was flawless other than struggling a bit on steep mountain grades with its small engine but it made it fine. Seats were so comfortable and car was very nimble in handling. Vision from inside was great, too. I have been a Toyota and Honda man but I might consider getting one of these someday. The only negative is the lack of a big trunk and some have said that these cars do not come with spare tires which is the BIGGEST negative of them all. But buying a spare tire would solve that problem, though gas mileage might be affected a bit. Anyhow, GREAT car and I enjoyed your great review, too! Happy Driving!!
I bought a new KIA Soul in 2018. It is a great car. Lots of cabin room with plenty of head and leg room if you are 6' 3 you will be OK. You can take this car on long trips with no problems. Very relable and well made.

I enjoyed watching your Kia Soul review video. About 3 days ago I traded my old 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ for a 2017 (very similar to your 2018) Kia Soul Plus - only had 10,200 miles on it. So far it's FUN to drive - and since I've been used to the Jeep - on regular street and highway driving the Kia is SPUNKY FAST and FUN to drive. And for me (6"2" Tall Guy) it's great for getting in and now and plenty roomy for me too. Oh - Also - I LOVE the backup camera too.
The small circular cutout is functional. It is a smooth surface that makes it super easy to attach a phone mount there, GPS mount, or weighted holder, etc.
Chucci it’s a filler panel for the center mounted subwoofer available on the higher models. It’s not supposed to be functional, no pay , no play, stick what you want to it, I like my audio clean.
Great review. Love the Soul. I believe that your tester is "Titanium Gray". Very attractive in a geeky kinda way. The Soul outlived the other "box cars" on the market (Scion xB & Nissan Cube).
100 Rental Cars . Yes, the Cube has been discontinued by Nissan a few years ago. My neighbor is a Uber driver, and he traded his old Cube for a new one last year, and he had to go to a dealer in the Winslow, AZ area to get a dealer left-over. He loves the Cube
I have a 2015 Soul and to this day absolutely love it! Fun, roomy (VERY roomy!), practical, efficient, and reliable! And I am one who actually digs the looks, a LOT! I think the Soul 's look fantastic, and are unique amongst all the SUV/CUV's on the market, though technically, it's a hatchback, not a Crossover.

Got one with push button start and navigation and have gotten all three upgrades. I got mine with the platinum extended warranty in 2020 with 14,000 miles for 14,589.00 plus tax. I love everything about it. The only option I miss is heated outside mirrors if they even offered them. It would be the one thing I would love to have. It is JAN 2023 and am right at 33,000. I did replace the four tires-because Sam's club was having a sale- and regular oil filter changes every 4 months or 4,000 miles. But that is all. It has been a great road trip car! And the spare tire under the trunk hood is sweet!
I have the 2018 Kia Soul plus in white. I’m in love with it. My man chooses to take it over his sporty turbo Audi. It has some get up when it’s in sport mode, it also has eco mode to save gas but it’s so good on gas that I use the plus or premium gas in it. I’ve never owned a car so good on gas in my life. It has so much sight with big windows and back up camera. I love the touch screen (7”) and all the options you show in this video. Great video btw. Now that I own this car, I feel like I see them everywhere! It’s very popular!
Well said! And I totally agree, there's just something unique and fun about the Soul. I'm super happy that it's selling well. Hopefully that'll mean Kia will keep making these and hopefully we'll get some copycats too. By the way, they now make an EV Soul that I'm dying to try out.
This is July, 2018, and KIA dealers are ready to clear 2018 inventory for incoming 2019 models. I was hoping for a great price on a 2018 Soul. I ended up with a new 2017 Soul with 15 miles on it for $123.27 below the dealer cost according to the invoice I demanded to see. It is the two-tone 'brownstone edition' with every option other than the turbo package, moonroof, and power folding side-view mirrors. I am happy.

Yet, I still have enough power to exceed the speed limit, enough head-room to wear a ten-gallon cowboy hat, a killer stereo system with navigation, heated leather steering wheel and heated leather seats front & rear, a 10-year drivetrain (2028) and 5-year (2023) bumper to bumper warranty with towing, and a 5-star crash rating. I just recently bought the 2017 + model and made an excellent choice. I'm so thankful for my Soul. For a little box car there's plenty of room and just enough power, but not overpowering. Best of all, it came with my favorite color, green! My only gripe is that it doesn't have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay capabilities. It does have back-up camera and a digital readout on the climate control settings. And it's got everything I need, most importantly a spare tire. I'm all set!
These aren't bad little cars, especially in ! (Exclaim) trim with the 1.6T engine, but I wouldn't exactly call it an SUV (more like a hatchback). I wish they'd make an AWD version. BTW, can you get clips of the seatbelt chimes when you start the cars up in your reviews? I kind of like to hear them. :)
It gets better. Coming in 2020 or in 2021 - most likely 2020... A hybrid Kia Soul that will continually exceed 56mpg and will also be AWD. Adapting technology from items such as the Kia Nero, and even mechanicals from the high end variation of the Kia Stinger. Convertible also in the works
Yeah allegedly Awd as a 2020 model. Though if they do, I would put on the hamster costume and drive it around the lot to freak out people for the hell of it. Awd and turbo and possibly some kind of killer sound system. The hatch could support speakers in it. More mood ambient lighting along the floor or dash. Perfect sleeper rolling disco. One flip of a switch and the po po don’t know nothing rofl
My mom has a base 2014 i drive it rev happy motor threw it in sport mode went to 6200 rpm and fell in love with the small car And id 10/10 buy one and it is stupid fun to drive in curvy roads
sold my 2015 KIA SOUL ! with the "whole shabang" for a 2011 Honda Element in black. My KIA had all the bells and whistles and it still wasn't enough. When taking a gradual hill on the interstate I would have to kill the cruise control and increase the speed to 85 or it would hit 5000 RPMs to maintain the 70 mph speed in the climb when reaching the crest. major pain in the butt when driving 400 miles in southern Indiana and all of those rolling hills!!! No regrets at all, none. Now maybe the new turbo engines could be different, but in all honesty, it was so light weight, too pretty (KIA was Cloud paint and butterscotch leather seats)
I've owned many cars, pickup trucks, a few Mustangs, Beetles. I needed to get away from the touch screen bruh haha which made driving wreckless for me. So I had to go back to the Old School ways with the Element which gives me everything a NON 4 wheel drive pickup truck can, without the back end worry of parallel parking. The interior is huge, no blind spots, you sit higher which saves your L hip and L femur in case of side impact. The handling is quick and takes a few days to get used to it keeping it in the lane, but once that happens, omg I can't stop driving her for other than a short errand requires. She's that nice for a "utility" Toaster lol. Road noise is there but with the 275 watt system, makes it forgivable. All time 4 wheel drive is sweet. The MPG is the same as the KIA though the KIA's display showing your average MPG was ALWAYS OFF BY 4 mpg!! The gas pump does not lie, but the KIA program does. ONE GREAT THING about the touch screen is, the first 6 programs of Sirus Radio stations can be paused and after driving awhile, you can REWIND, PAUSE and even FAST FORWARD when the time has built up on it while listening to tunes you RW to hear. THAT is the ONLY thing I wish my Element has, but the KIA sound system really lacks. I did enjoy the panoramic roof when I could handle the sun LOL
I recently bought a car exactly like this one, even the same color...partly based on your review. Thank you for a great review, but there are other issues/features I wish I'd known about prior to buying, so I'll list those here in case they're also important for others who are considering buying this car. I do enjoy driving the car, but am still getting used to it after having driven a 1999 Subaru Forester for almost 20 years (that I bought new in 1999). This car doesn't feel as solid as the Forester, but for the price, I agree with you that it's a nice car. Honestly, though, I think it's pretty ugly, given the weird external roof styling. The bluetooth works great, as you pointed out. Like you, I love the standard rear view mirror, with night-switch at bottom...I do not like automatic mirrors! I love the glove box, it's HUGE!! Also, although the cargo space is small, I find that I can get most all of my groceries in there, like in my Forester. The large items like 20 roll toilet paper packages have to go into the back seat, if I have other groceries, but all in all it's good. In mine, the horn is plenty loud. In fact, after having had a chirping alarm sound on the Forester, I really do not like the horn blowing with this alarm. In fact, I don't often set the security system, as I don't want to hear that loud horn beep. The CONS that I'm finding, though, are: 1. The worst -- TOO LITTLE ground clearance, not even 6 inches!! I bottom out sometimes on uneven driveway entrances, etc., & even if I put a towing package on it, I won't be able to get this into & out of the landfill, which is rutted in places. This is supposed to be an SUV, for crying out loud -- should have higher ground clearance!!! 2. NO SPARE TIRE!! Only an inflation kit. I've found small spares online, but I'll be spending $300 for it so haven't yet bought one. There is room for the small spare, so WHY did they not include it??? (The Forester had a full size spare, which was great!) 3. No CD player!! Sure, you can use bluetooth to play chosen music, but that uses data!!! 4. Not enough storage areas in the cabin...could've made that center circular thing on the dash a storage area with a lid, like the '99 Forester. And had some coin popouts or something. The Forester had so many storage areas! 5. I hate the HUGE key, it's so bulky! And my starter switch is wobbly when I insert the key (which I'll have checked out soon), probably due to the weight of that huge key fob! I wish they had other types available, with a smaller fob & separate key. 6. Very annoying "warning" screen upon every single startup, requiring me to push Confirm, though I think it eventually goes off...but it slows down my trying to call my elderly mother quickly after getting into the car. 7. I don't like that I have to press for circulated air every single time...I'd rather it default to the last setting. 8. Mine has auto-unlock upon shifting into park -- how dangerous that could be in a bad area!!!! And auto lock when shifting into Drive. But the dealership tells me that they can reprogram this by hooking to their tablet, so I hope so...will do this soon...the dealership is in another town. Some models have the package that allows for owner-programming, but mine doesn't -- wish I'd known this before I bought mine. 9. I don't like the solid black bottom seat -- wish they had carried the woven black/white down onto the bottom seat -- it shows every little speck, I'll probably get seat covers. 10. I'm only averaging 21-22 mph city, haven't taken it on a longer trip yet, but I'm disappointed. In eco mode, I do 23. I am not the slowest driver, though, so that's probably why. 11. Although the front & side visibility is good, the rear visibility is terrible!!! Why couldn't they have made the rear post on each side thinner?? Plus, the way the windows get smaller as you go toward the back, due to the funky lines of the car, that hinders visibility. It is VERY easy to begin to cross over into someone coming up in the next lane, you really have to watch closely!! I think there's a trim that has next lane warning if a car is in the blind spot, might be worth it to get that feature! Overall, it's a good car with great pickup, easy turnaround, shorter length which is nice. Had I known all these cons, I probably would've passed on this car. Not sure if I like that CVT transmission, I liked the regular 4 cylinder of the Forester far better, but it'll do. For now. It is very likely that I'll end up trading this car in on a car with a CD player & a spare tire.
Randy Tejeda you’re right it’s awesome, but hard to get some parts for, the center dish on the dash is a subwoofer. Saying a filler panel for a option a car doesn’t have is “not functional “ is silly. It’s not supposed to function.

Yeah, I've only had one VW in the two years I've been doing this. I'm hoping that my subs will continue to grow so that I eventually get to the point where dealers might let me borrow/review their cars. Then, I can totally review a Jetta. It spend a lot of time at the car rental places and it's clear to me that most people do not car sedans. They want crossovers, SUVs, and minivans. So Ford is probably just reading the writing on the wall. Probably a smart move. Plus, I kinda hope we see more cars like the Soul. Or maybe something brand new? We'll see. What do you think? Are you going to miss the Focus? (cause I'm not).

I am trying to decide between the Soul, Forte and Optima. I can't decide. My initial thought was between the Forte and Optima, but the Soul is kind of cute. And I have heard from people that they like the Soul.
Tough choice! My top two would be the Soul and the Optima. Personally, I think you'll really like the Soul, especially if you like the design. Have you test driven any of them yet?
I love mine! (2017 +) It’s interesting yo see little changes with the center console. My climate control readout is in the center of the controls where the round knob is in the 2018 +. However my screen is smaller and there’s no Apple/Android car play.
That is strange. I have no idea why Kia is choosing to make such small incremental changes. Then again, I'm no expert. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're still loving your Soul +. Any major problems/annoyances yet?
I only wish it had Daytime Running Lights, even just for the regular halogen headlights. I just leave my headlights set to "ON" at all times making the "AUTO" feature useless. I just don't understand why all Hyundais, base model and up, have DRLs, but KIA don't unless that have LED DRLs through a higher prices options package (the Sportage is the only base model with them I've noticed).
I really like it. But then, I'm a fan of smaller, practical vehicles like this. Unfortunately, I can't say much about reliability. I only had the Soul for about 2 days. I do own a KIA Sedona (it's a minivan). My family loves it, and we haven't had any major problems, but...we've only owned it for 18 months. Sorry, I wish I could be more help. My advice is to go out and test drive it. I bet you'll like it. ✌️
it's a great around town car or driving on flat roads and interstates, but the little engine really shows where it lacks in power. the RPMs go off the chart trying to drive up a slight hill which is quite jarring. That is why I got rid of mine. But YES it is a good reliable ride :) I had mine for almost 3 years and just recently sold it for a 2011 Honda Element with 122, 000 miles and I'm not regretting it one little bit.
I have the 2019 base model and it literally has the exact same details as this car. Can’t find a difference between them but for some reason they are different trim levels
You can get the old ones cheap now they make good work vehicle . Alot of room cheap on gas. Easy to work on. 200,000 on 1 timing belt and water pump all I have done and trans fluid drain and fill cevery 25k
Really? That's disappointing to hear. I'm sure you've already tried this, but check your tire pressure. If it's low it'll hurt your mpgs. And try accelerating and braking slowly (when you can). All three should help you get your mpgs up. And if they do, let me know!
@@fordxbgtfalcon If your trips are short, the engine doesn't have time to get to operating temp, which hurts MPG. Take it on a longer drive and see what the MPG is.
Great review I got the push button upgraded stereo and boy it rocks.It sticker-ed at $22950.00 I bought it this week with 14000 miles on it and three years old.Still has 2 year of bumper to bumper and drive train but I took the extended 7 year 100000 mile Platinum pkg for 28.00 a month more.I love it! I can not imagine needing the turbo in this car.Plenty of pick up and go and loves 80 miles an hr.I use cruise control set at 74 in a 70 zone on the internet. I would assume the turbo's may not last as long aS 4cyl.6 speed automatic., AS THEY BURN MUCH HOTTER.The car is awesome quite and fixed some of the early issues on 2010-2015 cars that KIA had to recall because of fires.And they really quietened the car up.At idle I think the car is off.OH IN SPORT MODE IT REALLY FUN TO WHIP AROUND.No sport car but for the money $13859 plus the extended warranty,tax tag and the dreaded 200.00 documentation fee..it was just at $15000.I don't think you could find a car with this much for protection that even covers electrical issues.it was a great deal.It was marked 14999. to begin with!So basically they just gave me the Warranty free.
Nevermind, it appears that a green nozzle is not an industry standard of representing diesel fuel. So note to diesel drivers, be aware that a green nozzle may dispense gasoline in some states!
Thanks for the heads up! I'm in Illinois and usually, although not always, the diesel pumps are bright yellow. But....can you imagine if I put diesel accidentally into one of my rental? I can't even imagine how much it would cost to fix that.

I have a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and was sitting at a diesel pump filling up one day and this guy pulls up with his Ford EcoBoost and starts getting ready to fill up and I look around and manage to stop him....then he tells me it wouldn't have been the first time that would have happened to him. I guess he saw me as a regular pickup sitting at the pump and just defaulted to pulling up to the same one instead of the gasoline pump a few feet further. He said his wife did it once on her car and it was several thousand dollars to drain and clean the tank, change the fuel lines, and injectors.
I want to try something with my new 2018 Kia Soul plus 2.0 liter engine. I want to leave the engine on about 23 hour a day for 7 days a week for 3 months. How many miles would I have put on my engine by the end of the 3 months? Is there a way to figure this out?
chocolatewheelchair the Soul is a little bit higher off the ground, not much. The driver's seat has a higher 'hip-point', so it's easier to get into and out of than an typical Kia sedan. I'm mobility impaired and I found the the doors on the Soul are really large for its class, and a walker easily fits in the cargo area without folding down the split back seat. Hope this helps. 😉
Your money will be well spent with the Kia Soul, well put together, roomy front interior, quite enough ride, quality all around, American cars are over priced rip offs compared to Kia.
not much of one, a storage bin is under the first level and it can be removed to find a impression of where the spare tire should be but isn't. you get a fix a flat contraption thing now

This is July, 2018, and KIA dealers are ready to clear 2018 inventory for incoming 2019 models. I was hoping for a great price on a 2018 Soul. I ended up with a new 2017 Soul with 15 miles on it for $123.27 below the dealer cost according to the invoice I demanded to see. It is the two-tone 'brownstone edition' with every option other than the turbo package, moonroof, and power folding side-view mirrors. I am happy.

Yet, I still have enough power to exceed the speed limit, enough head-room to wear a ten-gallon cowboy hat, a killer stereo system with navigation, heated leather steering wheel and heated leather seats front & rear, a 10-year drivetrain (2028) and 5-year (2023) bumper to bumper warranty with towing, and a 5-star crash rating. I just recently bought the 2017 + model and made an excellent choice. I'm so thankful for my Soul. For a little box car there's plenty of room and just enough power, but not overpowering. Best of all, it came with my favorite color, green! My only gripe is that it doesn't have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay capabilities. It does have back-up camera and a digital readout on the climate control settings. And it's got everything I need, most importantly a spare tire. I'm all set!

These aren't bad little cars, especially in ! (Exclaim) trim with the 1.6T engine, but I wouldn't exactly call it an SUV (more like a hatchback). I wish they'd make an AWD version. BTW, can you get clips of the seatbelt chimes when you start the cars up in your reviews? I kind of like to hear them. :)

Yeah allegedly Awd as a 2020 model. Though if they do, I would put on the hamster costume and drive it around the lot to freak out people for the hell of it. Awd and turbo and possibly some kind of killer sound system. The hatch could support speakers in it. More mood ambient lighting along the floor or dash. Perfect sleeper rolling disco. One flip of a switch and the po po don’t know nothing rofl

sold my 2015 KIA SOUL ! with the "whole shabang" for a 2011 Honda Element in black. My KIA had all the bells and whistles and it still wasn't enough. When taking a gradual hill on the interstate I would have to kill the cruise control and increase the speed to 85 or it would hit 5000 RPMs to maintain the 70 mph speed in the climb when reaching the crest. major pain in the butt when driving 400 miles in southern Indiana and all of those rolling hills!!! No regrets at all, none. Now maybe the new turbo engines could be different, but in all honesty, it was so light weight, too pretty (KIA was Cloud paint and butterscotch leather seats)

I've owned many cars, pickup trucks, a few Mustangs, Beetles. I needed to get away from the touch screen bruh haha which made driving wreckless for me. So I had to go back to the Old School ways with the Element which gives me everything a NON 4 wheel drive pickup truck can, without the back end worry of parallel parking. The interior is huge, no blind spots, you sit higher which saves your L hip and L femur in case of side impact. The handling is quick and takes a few days to get used to it keeping it in the lane, but once that happens, omg I can't stop driving her for other than a short errand requires. She's that nice for a "utility" Toaster lol. Road noise is there but with the 275 watt system, makes it forgivable. All time 4 wheel drive is sweet. The MPG is the same as the KIA though the KIA's display showing your average MPG was ALWAYS OFF BY 4 mpg!! The gas pump does not lie, but the KIA program does. ONE GREAT THING about the touch screen is, the first 6 programs of Sirus Radio stations can be paused and after driving awhile, you can REWIND, PAUSE and even FAST FORWARD when the time has built up on it while listening to tunes you RW to hear. THAT is the ONLY thing I wish my Element has, but the KIA sound system really lacks. I did enjoy the panoramic roof when I could handle the sun LOL
I recently bought a car exactly like this one, even the same color...partly based on your review. Thank you for a great review, but there are other issues/features I wish I'd known about prior to buying, so I'll list those here in case they're also important for others who are considering buying this car. I do enjoy driving the car, but am still getting used to it after having driven a 1999 Subaru Forester for almost 20 years (that I bought new in 1999). This car doesn't feel as solid as the Forester, but for the price, I agree with you that it's a nice car. Honestly, though, I think it's pretty ugly, given the weird external roof styling. The bluetooth works great, as you pointed out. Like you, I love the standard rear view mirror, with night-switch at bottom...I do not like automatic mirrors! I love the glove box, it's HUGE!! Also, although the cargo space is small, I find that I can get most all of my groceries in there, like in my Forester. The large items like 20 roll toilet paper packages have to go into the back seat, if I have other groceries, but all in all it's good. In mine, the horn is plenty loud. In fact, after having had a chirping alarm sound on the Forester, I really do not like the horn blowing with this alarm. In fact, I don't often set the security system, as I don't want to hear that loud horn beep.
The CONS that I'm finding, though, are:
1. The worst -- TOO LITTLE ground clearance, not even 6 inches!! I bottom out sometimes on uneven driveway entrances, etc., & even if I put a towing package on it, I won't be able to get this into & out of the landfill, which is rutted in places. This is supposed to be an SUV, for crying out loud -- should have higher ground clearance!!!
2. NO SPARE TIRE!! Only an inflation kit. I've found small spares online, but I'll be spending $300 for it so haven't yet bought one. There is room for the small spare, so WHY did they not include it??? (The Forester had a full size spare, which was great!)
3. No CD player!! Sure, you can use bluetooth to play chosen music, but that uses data!!!
4. Not enough storage areas in the cabin...could've made that center circular thing on the dash a storage area with a lid, like the '99 Forester. And had some coin popouts or something. The Forester had so many storage areas!
5. I hate the HUGE key, it's so bulky! And my starter switch is wobbly when I insert the key (which I'll have checked out soon), probably due to the weight of that huge key fob! I wish they had other types available, with a smaller fob & separate key.
6. Very annoying "warning" screen upon every single startup, requiring me to push Confirm, though I think it eventually goes off...but it slows down my trying to call my elderly mother quickly after getting into the car.
7. I don't like that I have to press for circulated air every single time...I'd rather it default to the last setting.
8. Mine has auto-unlock upon shifting into park -- how dangerous that could be in a bad area!!!! And auto lock when shifting into Drive. But the dealership tells me that they can reprogram this by hooking to their tablet, so I hope so...will do this soon...the dealership is in another town. Some models have the package that allows for owner-programming, but mine doesn't -- wish I'd known this before I bought mine.
9. I don't like the solid black bottom seat -- wish they had carried the woven black/white down onto the bottom seat -- it shows every little speck, I'll probably get seat covers.
10. I'm only averaging 21-22 mph city, haven't taken it on a longer trip yet, but I'm disappointed. In eco mode, I do 23. I am not the slowest driver, though, so that's probably why.
11. Although the front & side visibility is good, the rear visibility is terrible!!! Why couldn't they have made the rear post on each side thinner?? Plus, the way the windows get smaller as you go toward the back, due to the funky lines of the car, that hinders visibility. It is VERY easy to begin to cross over into someone coming up in the next lane, you really have to watch closely!! I think there's a trim that has next lane warning if a car is in the blind spot, might be worth it to get that feature!
Overall, it's a good car with great pickup, easy turnaround, shorter length which is nice. Had I known all these cons, I probably would've passed on this car. Not sure if I like that CVT transmission, I liked the regular 4 cylinder of the Forester far better, but it'll do. For now. It is very likely that I'll end up trading this car in on a car with a CD player & a spare tire.

I'm hoping that my subs will continue to grow so that I eventually get to the point where dealers might let me borrow/review their cars. Then, I can totally review a Jetta. Thanks Jeremy! And speaking of Ford, it's crazy, right? I don't know much about the car industry, but it does seem to make sense. It spend a lot of time at the car rental places and it's clear to me that most people do not car sedans. They want crossovers, SUVs, and minivans. So Ford is probably just reading the writing on the wall. Probably a smart move. Plus, I kinda hope we see more cars like the Soul. Or maybe something brand new? We'll see. What do you think? Are you going to miss the Focus? (cause I'm not).

I am trying to decide between the Soul, Forte and Optima. I can't decide. My initial thought was between the Forte and Optima, but the Soul is kind of cute. And I have heard from people that they like the Soul.
Tough choice! My top two would be the Soul and the Optima. Personally, I think you'll really like the Soul, especially if you like the design. Have you test driven any of them yet?

I think the features on the Soul are better and I prefer hatchbacks over sedans. Hatchbacks are MUCH more useful, in my opinion.

The third trim level is called the Exclaim (!). I bought a 2018 Exclaim 1.6L Turbo on July 5th.
I love mine! (2017 +) It’s interesting yo see little changes with the center console. My climate control readout is in the center of the controls where the round knob is in the 2018 +. However my screen is smaller and there’s no Apple/Android car play.
That is strange. I have no idea why Kia is choosing to make such small incremental changes. Then again, I'm no expert. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're still loving your Soul +. Any major problems/annoyances yet?
I only wish it had Daytime Running Lights, even just for the regular halogen headlights. I just leave my headlights set to "ON" at all times making the "AUTO" feature useless. I just don't understand why all Hyundais, base model and up, have DRLs, but KIA don't unless that have LED DRLs through a higher prices options package (the Sportage is the only base model with them I've noticed).
The center circle on the dash is for a speaker with the premium sound option, eight speakers total.

I really like it. But then, I'm a fan of smaller, practical vehicles like this. Unfortunately, I can't say much about reliability. I only had the Soul for about 2 days. I do own a KIA Sedona (it's a minivan). My family loves it, and we haven't had any major problems, but...we've only owned it for 18 months. Sorry, I wish I could be more help. My advice is to go out and test drive it. I bet you'll like it. ✌️
it's a great around town car or driving on flat roads and interstates, but the little engine really shows where it lacks in power. the RPMs go off the chart trying to drive up a slight hill which is quite jarring. That is why I got rid of mine. But YES it is a good reliable ride :) I had mine for almost 3 years and just recently sold it for a 2011 Honda Element with 122, 000 miles and I'm not regretting it one little bit.

Did you drive in sport mode? I've heard in a Kia Soul group that it can be wimpy (the 2.0L engine) but using sport mode all the time helps..some.

You can get the old ones cheap now they make good work vehicle . Alot of room cheap on gas. Easy to work on. 200,000 on 1 timing belt and water pump all I have done and trans fluid drain and fill cevery 25k

The best I’ve ever gotten in my Soul + is only 20 mpg in the city, and that’s in eco mode. Mine is an 18 as well.
Really? That's disappointing to hear. I'm sure you've already tried this, but check your tire pressure. If it's low it'll hurt your mpgs. And try accelerating and braking slowly (when you can). All three should help you get your mpgs up. And if they do, let me know!

@@fordxbgtfalcon If your trips are short, the engine doesn't have time to get to operating temp, which hurts MPG. Take it on a longer drive and see what the MPG is.

Great review I got the push button upgraded stereo and boy it rocks.It sticker-ed at $22950.00 I bought it this week with 14000 miles on it and three years old.Still has 2 year of bumper to bumper and drive train but I took the extended 7 year 100000 mile Platinum pkg for 28.00 a month more.I love it! I can not imagine needing the turbo in this car.Plenty of pick up and go and loves 80 miles an hr.I use cruise control set at 74 in a 70 zone on the internet. I would assume the turbo's may not last as long aS 4cyl.6 speed automatic., AS THEY BURN MUCH HOTTER.The car is awesome quite and fixed some of the early issues on 2010-2015 cars that KIA had to recall because of fires.And they really quietened the car up.At idle I think the car is off.OH IN SPORT MODE IT REALLY FUN TO WHIP AROUND.No sport car but for the money $13859 plus the extended warranty,tax tag and the dreaded 200.00 documentation fee..it was just at $15000.I don't think you could find a car with this much for protection that even covers electrical issues.it was a great deal.It was marked 14999. to begin with!So basically they just gave me the Warranty free.

Nevermind, it appears that a green nozzle is not an industry standard of representing diesel fuel. So note to diesel drivers, be aware that a green nozzle may dispense gasoline in some states!
Thanks for the heads up! I'm in Illinois and usually, although not always, the diesel pumps are bright yellow. But....can you imagine if I put diesel accidentally into one of my rental? I can't even imagine how much it would cost to fix that.

I have a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and was sitting at a diesel pump filling up one day and this guy pulls up with his Ford EcoBoost and starts getting ready to fill up and I look around and manage to stop him....then he tells me it wouldn't have been the first time that would have happened to him. I guess he saw me as a regular pickup sitting at the pump and just defaulted to pulling up to the same one instead of the gasoline pump a few feet further. He said his wife did it once on her car and it was several thousand dollars to drain and clean the tank, change the fuel lines, and injectors.

chocolatewheelchair the Soul is a little bit higher off the ground, not much. The driver's seat has a higher 'hip-point', so it's easier to get into and out of than an typical Kia sedan. I'm mobility impaired and I found the the doors on the Soul are really large for its class, and a walker easily fits in the cargo area without folding down the split back seat. Hope this helps. 😉
