We’ve got a 2014 Soul diesel (2nd gen), owned since new. It’s done just under 140k miles. It’s never had anything done other than routine servicing and brake pads/discs. I’m waiting for the big bills, but so far it has been fantastic. I won’t buy another Soul when it dies, probably, as it’s my wife’s car and too small as a main family car. But I may well buy another Kia as I’ve been so impressed with this one.
I have a custom made brand new 2017 model and it’s an amazing vehicle. Never had any issues with it either and it’s now 4 years old. Got through its big 4 yr MOT and service with flying colours. Only little changes over the years like new wind wipers, all terrain tyres fitted as Kia tyres were not adequate for living rurally. It has amazing interior, far superior than the model shown in this video, having 6 gears and petrol, great at overtaking on motorways etc and in high winds, has rear parking video, sensors and MP3 which I hate as I prefer CD player and is so smooth on the road, can’t feel bumps on road or stones etc unlike the dreadful Kia Rio lol which I got on hire and was like a sardine tin lol. I would certainly by either another soul or a Kia sportage. Has been a good family car and got me round most of U.K. and only done 37k to date, very economical vehicle.
I inherited a 2014 in the past year and I’ve grown quite fond of the little muppet. Love the headroom and the comfy front seats with decent lumbar support. The rear seating is not bad either. It’s a fun little car to drive. Just returned from a 1000 mile trip and this car was a little trooper. Looking to buy a new car in the next year or so and, much to my own surprise, I’m seriously considering another Soul.
I had one of those bad boys in red, and in the rough terrains and heavy climbings provided by Colombian geography, it was simply amazing. I loved the thing so much, that I upgraded it to the 2015 bicolor automatic model and I can't be happier with it.
Your videos are top tier man, I honestly wish you were just a reviewer full time and reviewed every kind of car possible like supercars etc. Keep up your great work
Not a pensioner yet but I'd buy one just for the hell of being to thrown everything in the back with the seats down. I'm with you there with 'something different' I've always been tempted to get a NIssan Cube
This very day, my wife traded her 2010 Kia soul. 110,000k on the clock. It was a fantastic little car. No serious issues, above brakes tires etc. She would have purchased a new one, but didn't like the aggressive look of the front grill. Replaced with a 2021 Nissan Kicks. We are in Canada.
Bought an 09 in red for my wife nearly 5 years ago. Our kids called it Postman Pats van and even bought a black and white stuffed cat for it. Ok silly stuff over, the car has been faultless, passed all MOT s. My daughter is now learning to drive in it. Cracking little car that is fun to drive.
Oi, stop being rude about pensioners. I was 29 once, actually I was also 10 once as well. I just worked hard, lived my life and slept a lot at night. Then one day I woke up and was 66 years old, and the government sent me some money for nothing. What’s not to like? I have started to paint my entire house beige and have bought a Passat. I am looking for a car with a built in commode but no luck so far. If you get one let me know youngster
Love this car. I have the 2015 Kia Soul Base 1.6L Automatic with 232,000 miles and counting. It's been awesomely reliable. I took it into the Kia dealership for recalls, all is well. I drove the 2010 Kia Soul with the 2.0L Automatic, and wow - it's so much peppier than mine. Apparently, the 2nd generation Kia Soul has an improved suspension and overall handling in comparison to the 1st generation. There are quite a few Kia Souls' here in the US. Great humor and presentation. Thank you for the review. You earned a subscriber.
They are a great buy and I agree with you on them compared to the competition. They did offer a 150 hp diesel 6 speed in 2018 and you can buy one of them with low mileage and 5 yrs warranty for about £11000 to £12000 and they were a very much improved car. The people who are not sure about the styling should drive one because they will get a Pleaseeant surprise just how well they drive. Today you can only buy them as a full EV but their not cheap at around £37k. They have over 200 hp and a 280 ml range.
Got to say a big thank you for this video trawled through ads looking for a suitable car for my nephew just passed his test ( he’s 27 with a young family and this fitted the bill perfectly even the same hearing aid beige😂
We live in Northern Ontario Canada. We purchased our first KIA Soul in 2010. It was about the third or fourth one to come into the Sudbury Dealership. Since then we have purchased a 2015, 2018, and last noVember we bought our 2021. We have used the soul to travel to the east coast for 5 weeks and to Alberta for a few weeks. Although it is not a Cadillac ride they were adequate and equal to the task. We endure lots of cold in the winter and Heat with humidity in the summer. The climate control system is well up to the challenge. I have transported a 3/4 upright bass fiddle and a full sized electric keyboard in it. What more do you need to get the mail, groceries and go to the bank. I see all ages driving them. We will sure consider another one.
Great review of a very underrated car that I’ve had a soft spot for for years. The second generation model was available as a Sport model with the 201hp engine out of the Ceed GT - I bet that’s a laugh!
Great video! Used to own a second generation Kia Soul in top trip. Was a fantastic vehicle without almost any issues until the vehicle blew the engine at 71,125 miles. Had it replaced under warranty (Kia dealers suck) and drove it until about 94,000 miles. Had the car for five years and sold it in august of 2020 for a 2008 Volvo XC90 V8 which I enjoy more!
I feel like everybody that I know that had a Kia Soul before had their engine blow. My brother-in-law’s 2016 Kia Soul engine blew at 30k miles. And my friend had a 2014 Kia Soul engine blow at 60k miles. Both of them hated the car and tried very hard to get rid of it but both of them had the engine replaced by Kia. Hearing both of their story’s really scared me away from buying a Kia
My wife had a MK1 Quantum and switched to a MK2 Maxx in 2018. The first generation was good but the second so much better. These are the basically small cars but with a boxy 'Tardis' feel and that higher riding position which makes them so easy to drive. The Soul didn't really catch on in the UK but is still a massive seller in the USA. I drive a Sorento. As well as the seven year warranty I like the specification system Kia use for their models - it's so easy selecting 1, 2, 3, 4 or the special edition names. You don't have all the hassle of expensive extras and packs.
Weirdly I loved the styling when they first came out. Can see why surf dudes in US like them! I thought someone should design a tiny matching caravan! As usual with your videos I too went off to Autotrader to check out prices - £5/6,000 gets a good looking shiney black diesel auto wiv reasonable mileage and 6 speakers - wot more could one ask for a runabout? Excellent stuff as usual from HPA!
When it first came out it only had a 5 year warranty as at the time Kia warranty was depending where the car was built. A year later Kia made all the models have 7 year warranties
Do you spend the whole night thinking of jokes to put into your vids. “ R Soul”, comedy genius. Spot on how some makes appeal so differently depending on markets. Honda Civic in USA are driven by the youth and in the uk by the pensioners
Won't be looking on Autotrader todayKia Soul sport with 200 horses exists, rest of the range is pretty good tho. Ive watched every one of your videos they're great, funny and informative ta very much
Back in the day these where plentiful in every major city in the states. I distinctly remember the Green Tea Latte color was popular in Chicago, while Cocktail Orange was popular in San Francisco, and Moonlight Blue was the color of choice in Denver. 🌈
Great humorous quips with this revue - can only begin to thank lucky stars that my lawfully wedded didn’t se one of these, when I had to buy a lower mileage car - or I could have been co-opted into buying one. Funny about the ceiling, that is exactly what happened to my Mother’s kitchen ceiling. She,and my brother were heavy smokers. Interesting car, did think about getting one. Dont like the Roomster? You haven't owned one. Not fast, but incredibly practical. You can get a bike in the back and 4 passengers. Great to see someone extolling the virtues of peoples cars and not just the usual thrashbuckets or sniffmobiles... Thank you.
Just seen the one on your website. But too much for my current budget, but looks okay. I shall maybe start looking at them a little more. The boot space for a power chair is helpful.
Never given these much thought - you make quite a good case for the car. That hearing aid beige example gives it a rather bland look, the red one you also have in stock looks more interesting although probably wouldn't appeal to Margaret☺️Think these are attracting younger buyers now - our nephew has just brought a new EV Soul and is pretty happy with it.
I like red color for the 2010s but I prefer the 2011s which got the multiple color options for the door speakers. There's also a sub woofer in the trunk for mine that came stock too for the 4u trim

I got a 2017 with 40,000 miles, just did the front pads, they had a funny wire on the bottom of each pad to hold them in the calipers. I ended up nixing them. Good car, 6 speed manual, AC, base model car. First new car I ever owned, paid off 17,000 US dollars. Cheers.
I think this is one of those cars that people who just need a car for getting A to B, chuck stuff in for the tip, and want something, cheap and with loads of kit on, that isn't a Golf, Focus etc 🤔
My family bought a 2010 Soul Sport brand new in 2009. 5-speed manual, FWD, it's a lot of fun. It's enough to convince me that my next car will be a Hyundai Veloster N.

Not just saying this because I'm an owner but if any of your viewers are looking to go electric the Soul EV should at the very least be on their shortlist. Miles ahead of the new Mokka for instance in my opinion.
I was gifted my uncles tools and now his 2013 Black Kia Soul I love this car his name is Jake and my other cars are parked since I’ve had it 2 days 🤣🤣🤣 fun car👍
Brilliant video. I own a Kia Ceed very good reliable car.
Well you turned my head with the A8 video
I was born with a soul and one is enough for anyone.
My mom had one. I think 2012 model, top trim level. She hated it so much, that she sold it after less then a month of ownership.
