Fred Rogers was an ordained Christian minister who rarely (if ever) talked about God or scripture. Instead he exemplified it, not just through works but also through demonstrating love, kindness, acceptance, and justice.
That's how you do it, imo. As a nonreligious person by choice after being raised in it, I deeply respect Mr Rogers because he was actively making the world a better place and connecting human beings rather than dividing them by things like religion, race, and class. He didn't make it be his religion that defined him as a good person, hell I didn't even know he was a minister until this documentary came out, but it was his actions that spoke volumes about his being a good person, morals which can be shared by all of us regardless of belief or culture.
@@BlueHazyDreams more religious people should be like that. As a Christian I'm horrified by the behavior of some of my own faith, I wonder what goes through their mind. Mr Rogers was a blessing and an example on how we can show love and respect to everyone around us!
It's like Red on That 70's Show. I wanna be like Mr. Rogers but I am not. It would help to have the real McCoy rather than trying to be like Mr. Rogers.
I loved watching him as a child. Mr. Rogers was beloved by more than one generation. Years ago, his car was stolen and it was reported in the news. The next day it was back in his driveway with an apology note. Even kids that later became criminals couldn't live with the idea of wronging him.
I grew up with a stepfather who hated my sister and I, and he let us know it every chance he got. Mr. Rogers was an escape for me; he taught me that not all men were cruel and hateful, and that there was a lot of good and kindness in the world. I think he filled a void for a lot children and I hope he knew that, and that he was loved.
Jesse Golden I'm so sorry you and your sister had to grow up being hated by any adult especially a father figure. I saw an interview with Mr Rogers once where he said he felt like the space between the child and the TV was like sacred ground. He took what he was doing that seriously because he knew some kids had it rough. How many adults took kids that seriously? He was one of a kind.
Jesse Golden Amen & I'm so sorry to hear that, but Jesus will ALWAYS & NEVER STOP LOVING YOU & YOUR SISTER, OK, but again I apologize that you had to experience that as a child, hopefully it made you & your sister stronger women

That man was one of the most loving people on the face of the earth. I never knew either of my grandfathers, so he was a sort of stand-in. Didn’t matter if Mr. Rogers was on TV or not, you just always felt like he loved you as though you were his own kid.

I don’t know if it’s cause I’ve had a rough week or not but I’m actually crying. I didn’t know the show I loved when I was young held such significance.
I think it's just the effect of he has on people. All your worries, fears and happy/sad memories just spill out. I've spent most of today crying thanks to this and Twitch streaming all of his show in honor of his birthday. I hope your day gets better.
Hey there neighbor. I am sorry to hear you've had a rough week and I hope it gets better but for now let out those tears and let them help you. We all deserve a good cry.
When he fed his fish, Mister Rogers made a point to say out loud that he was feeding the fish. Why? Because he learned that a blind girl always listened to the show and when he did not say - out loud - that he was feeding the fish, the blind girl got concerned that he was not feeding the fish. So he made certain he said - out loud - that he was feeding the fish for the blind girls benefit. He had such an understanding of a child's mindset and their worries.
He knew. What he struggled with most of his life is that he didn't know if we understood how much he loved all of us. That made me legit tear up watching the movie.
Charlotte Shanagher this nan was a father figure / best friend to me I grew up with a rough childhood but he always made things better all the time ....
Kevin Lancour y'all making me cry. it's like this movie is for us adults that need to feel like that kid when we watched him. Even if it's only for an hour and a half.
It’s just the trailer and it almost made me cry. This man and show was such an inspiration, work of art, and hero. I remember being that little kid so drawn to the screen by this show every time it came on. I can’t wait for this. ♥️
Nka Vids Skateboarding worst thing he might have ever done in his life was give the middle finger that one time...you’re the man btw Nigel love your vids
Yup! I’m a grown ass man who grew up watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, and this trailer alone was enough to get me teary-eyed. He was truly one of a kind.
I got scared when I saw a trailer about Mr. Rogers with so many childhood heroes getting exposed as monsters. I'm so happy to see one turn out to be a real hero. I will gladly see this.
I hear ya. The whole bill Cosby thing still does my head in. It’s weird how events like this twist your mind into thinking things are too good to be true. I know Mr. Rogers is loved by most everyone but part of my mind wants me to think that eventually it’ll come out that he did some dark things behind the scenes and sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised. I think it’s just current events making me think that way though. The guy seemed like a genuinely awesome person and I’m glad he can still bring joy to the world even after his passing.
I miss Fred! In a world where I had no father, and my Mother was emotionally lost, Mr. Rogers was a quality father figure available 5 days a week through my tv. He is a piece of the man I am today. I am grateful to have had him.
*+Robert Evras* I did have a dad, but he was an extremely depressed abusive alcoholic who didn't spend much time with me as a kid, except to beat me when he was in a drunken rage. I watched Mr. Rogers all the time, even when I was long past being a little kid. I still watch the show now when I need comforting. He's the only loving father figure I ever had - I've even said he was the only real dad I had - and I still get teary-eyed when I watch him, wishing I could have met him just once and told him how much he meant to me. My mom often said she didn't know how I turned out to be such a kind person, growing up the way I did. I know a big part of the reason why, though: Mr. Rogers. I miss him so much. But I'm still learning lessons from him, and that makes me really happy. He's still here for us, Robert, the people like you and me, and he always will be. ❤️
violetxoxox Wow! We could have grown up in the same house it sounds like. Thanks for sharing your story! I wonder how many more "Brothers in Mr. ROGERS" we have in common? I am a 44 year old Realtor today...well adjusted, beautiful family. I truly belive that God put him in his role just for guys like us. I also wish I could hug the man just one time, and tell him the difference he has made in my life, and ultimately the lives of my kids. I think the best way to honor Fred Rogers is to pass his wisdom forward to the next generation. Big live to ALL my brothers out there!
Im not from America, and today was the first day that I’ve heard of Mr. Rogers. I know nothing about him or his show but it’s incredible to read the comments on this video. What an amazing man he must have been to be this loved in a world moved by hate. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind. To be remembered for the “right” reasons it’s a rare thing too see nowadays. I’m sure he his so proud. I’m going to watch it now because y’all made me want to fall in love with him as much as you did! ❤️
cpbbm Trust me his program ran for almost 40 years and it’s one of the best educational shows ever shown to kids. He’s probably one of the few people near-universally beloved by the world simply for being a good man
He didn’t put on a character in his show. That was who he really was, teaching generations to unconditionally love their neighbors. He loved all of us unconditionally. He truly was a beautiful man who dedicated his whole life to simply share and spread the love that the world so much needs. He reached out to those who even needed it the most. Became a father to those who lacked one or even lacked a good one. He didn’t do to gain anything personal, he just simply believed that everyone deserves to be loved.
I’m 31 years old and I’m crying. At first I felt stupid for crying but then I remembered Mr. Rogers taught me it was ok to feel my feelings and that just made me cry some more. I will forever love Mr. Rogers. He was, is and will always be an inspiration.
+DramaticChick Hi. I'm writing a news story about people crying during this trailer. Weird, I know, but lots of adults are crying from it, including me. I'd love to quote what you said, but also ask you one more question. Can you PLEASE get in touch? Christopher Spata at cspata@tampabay.com or @spatatimes onTwitter
You know when you tear up and feel your faith in humanity being restored during a trailer, it's gonna be a good film. Mister Rogers was a great man. I used to watch Mister Rogers Neighborhood as a kid, and after recently rewatching a lot episodes during Twitch's marathon, I'm really looking forward to this.
MoonStruckBunny Oh cool. I watched another Mister Roger's Neighborhood marathon a few months back on Twitch Presents, i didn't know they were doing another one. Looks like they started up this one just today.
Darkan yeah, your comment reminded me of it and I went to see if anything was happening with the channel and there he was, just being the best human ever.
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" - Fred Rogers
It just dawned on my how it is that I grew up in a very racist home but rejected that incorrect tradition. Mr. Roger's truth taught me a better way. I love that man.
I have never seen a more life changing movie than this. Last night I had seen this movie, and I have been planning to kill myself for a few weeks. I had a plan set out and I was just going day by day until the day I chose to die came. This movie made me realize that I am loved and I am beautiful. This movie made me realize that I am not half as bad as I think. This movie made me realize that not only am loved, but that I am lovable and worthy of love. I grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood every time it came on. I diddnt realize how much that man shaped me in to who I am today. I recommend seeing this movie more than any movie I have ever seen before. If youre here and you havent seen it, Im begging you. WATCH IT.
Reverend Fred Rogers was successful for the same reason his imitators fail: he treated small children like people. He didn't talk down, he addressed concerns of childhood as things worth addressing and taking seriously and trusted that children could handle tough subjects if you were willing to take the time. Maybe most of all, he didn't play a character. What you saw on the Neighborhood was what you got. Seriously, go watch his testimony before the Senate about public television and tell me that's not the same guy that walked onto a TV set, sang and put on a sweater and sneakers every day for decades.
Frank Martin my parents did their best job to treat me like that. I was born just months before the 9/11 attacks, so I grew up with it in the news and on TV. From a very young age, my parents taught me how to deal with serious things like that. Also, they taught me how to deal with my feelings. When I was sad or angry, they explained that it was ok. My point is, that message has given me a level of maturity a lot of people don't have. Mr. Rogers was spot on with the message he shared! It's one of the most important things someone can learn.
Word UP Frank Martin. I've always felt that way about Mr. Rogers & have watched that clip so many times... "What do you do with the mad that you feel ? When you feel so mad you could bite..." 💓💖💓 As someone who came from a childhood of neglect, abuse & abandonment, I remember being almost entranced by him because I could tell he was REAL. He meant everything he sd... & he made me feel like I mattered. 🤗 I'm 36 years old now, rocking my favorite Mr Rogers "You Are Special" shirt, teary eyed thinking about just how special he was... to me and so many others. 🤔 & Commenting on a stranger's post smh ✌😂💕😏✌
Almighty God George Soros #420 #GetRekd don’t compare pain because pain is pain even if someone got it “worse”it’s still not okay what this person went through and stop being an asshole Mr. almighty “GOD”😂
Mr Rogers was the first person, adult or child, that told me, he liked me JUST THE WAY I WAS. I'm 36 now, and he's still the only person that's told me that! And if your reading this, I like you! JUST THE WAY YOU ARE : )
Jackles lover Forevers I’m only a stranger, but I like you just the way you are because you’re a beautiful human being. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. God bless you, I mean it sincerely. I hope you get to where you need to be in life if you haven’t already.
Jesus likes you just the way you are, and I know that I don't know you, but I like you just the way you are too. I am very happy that Mr. Rogers has shown you compassion.
I used to watch Mister Rogers almost every day as a young kid, especially during the time my parents were going through an ugly divorce when I was 5 years old. I honestly believe that I'm a better person, with a better heart and empathy, happier and more successful than I would have been had I not watched this show.
Omg I am 34 yrs old and in tears I grew up in foster care , Mr Rogers was a father figure to me , even after my adoption in 1988 -1989 Mr Rogers was more of a parent my best friend growing up , watching this trailer and hearing his voice and the lessons he used to teach us everyday put me in tears I'm still crying as I'm type this, ..... There will never be another like Mr Rogers , It's so awesome that this is coming out , from beyond the grave he is coming back into our lives to allow us the chance to relive our childhood and reconnect with each other as a nation .... Still teaching us from up there in heaven Mr Rogers thank you for everything
The cool thing about Mr. Rogers is that everyone who met him outside of the show said that he was the exact same guy in real life as he was in the show.
My mother met Mr. Rogers shortly before he died at a Whole Foods. She's been there for a long time and he went there once and bought a deli sandwich. My mom made it for him and she says he was one of the nicest customers ever. I know it's hard to believe an internet stranger but I just wanted to tell this because he really was a nice person outside the show as well.
oldtwins na Whole Foods has always had vegetarian options. I’m not claiming to know what we ate that day. He met my mom and that was that don’t believe me if you want.
I’m not sure what I believe religiously, but I feel that Mr. Rogers was put on this planet to serve a significant purpose. To offer peace, education, and perspective to those in need. His warmth and compassion were simply unmatched and remain as such.
He was what people should be, religious or not. While I'm not religious, people like him hold total respect from me. They're kind and do what's right for the sake of it. He was what everyone should be.
As an atheist I feel it takes away from mr. Rogers to credit a god for creating him. He did what he did because he was simply a good person, and he’s the one who should be thanked, not God.
Wow ok so I didnt even know who Mr. Roger's was until tonight. I'm 16 and wasnt even aware of who he was or what he did. We accidentally bought the wrong tickets to this movie. We wanted to watch Jurassic world 2 but we bought these tickets instead. I'm so happy we watched this. I cried so many times without even knowing what the movie was going to be, and I realized how much of an impact he made. 10/10 movie.
Truly a beautiful man, who dedicated his whole life in teaching and providing love for those who needed it the most. He saw only the best in everyone and made it his mission to make you smile and feel loved. He made everyone his neighbor and he loved all of us equally. It’s rare to come across teachers like that, but especially to those who LIVED their teachings before our eyes. The true embodiment of how powerful love can be in one person and he spent his years teaching generations that love he had inside him. He truly had a heart of gold and what makes it even better was that he would let us build ourselves our own golden hearts by his example. He truly was the embodiment of neighborly love and he only wanted to share that love to make this world a happier place for all.
A great legend no doubt, I learned English watching Mr Rogers. I'll be forever grateful for all the smiles, and the sing along😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I'm always singing it's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, my 6 year old daughter loves the song. I'll definitely watch this with her.
Oh Dr., Pastor, Mister Rogers. The world is not the same since you left. I met you three times in my life, first at the age of 7 in Latrobe Pennsylvania. Can't wait to see you on the big screen.
Wow! How wonderful of you to have met him. The world just isn't the same without him. I can't wait to pass on the magic of Mr. Rogers to my future children. ❤️
i just watched this and cried the whole time. the respect he held for children and the respect for the amount of intelligence they have was so beautiful and important. we need a show like this today.
I never watched a single episode of Mr. Rogers, but from this trailer, he was one of the nicest people in the planet, and it didn’t matter what your race or your beliefs were to him, he would always treat you as a human being, believing there is good heart in you and that people care about you. We need more people like this in the public eye now a days.
You don't have to watch his show to know his work. Just think of it like this, Literally every child friendly educational puppet show was inspired by this man.
Mine, too. I have serious mental health issues that make it hard to love myself, hard for others to love me, and hard for me to love them. This movie gave me hope. How I wish I'd grown up with Mr. Rogers! But we didn't have a UHF antenna for our T.V. in my childhood home, so couldn't pick up the station on which it appeared. I wonder if it's too late to watch, and learn, now that I'm 56. I hope not! Full episodes as well as clips are accessible through the PBS Kids app. Have a beautiful day, neighbor.
MrPerfesser And boy do I feel like a fool for choosing Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera over Fred Rogers. I reviled in animation because of how wild and wacky it can be. But as a man with Autism, I now see why so many Autistic people loved watching Fred’s show. He loved everyone, regardless of their skin color, physical disabilities, sexual preferences, or by what name they call God.
This was the first ever documentary I saw in theatres. I went with a friend who at first was like “this is gonna be stupid” We left the theatre both in tears, and went again the next day with 3 other friends.
I usually comment on movies as I watch them. This movie I didn't say a word...everything that I would have said was said in the movie. There was nothing else I could have added.
When I was growing up in a single parent home with a mentally ill mom, Mr. Rogers was the first person who made me feel special. I'm still grateful for his example of love! ♥️
Rip to the only father I ever had. You have single handedly raised so many children over the years in love and i owe you for granting me the ability to exppress my feelings whenever it was in question. God blessed us with you.
From all the people out there in this world, I think Mr Rogers was the closest to being Jesus-like. "Love thy neighbor as you love yourself." His show will live on in all of us.
Oh, I don't know. I feel he was a LOT better than Jesus ever was, at least on TV. For example, Mr Rogers didn't throw tantrums, toss furniture, flog people, curse fruit trees for not being in season, tell kids to hate and abandon their parents or command slaves to quit griping and obey their masters...just for a start.
Um, for the record, Jesus didn’t throw tantrums, flog people, or tell slaves to quit griping and obey their masters either (Where, in the Gospels is the last one? I think you’re mistaking Paul’s words in Ephesians 6 for Jesus’. Also, reading the whole chapter provides some context for the seemingly offensive radicality of Ephesians 6:5). As for the telling kids to hate their parents, it is important not to take that one too literally because He meant to encourage us to love God to a far greater extent than any other being. And I also couldn’t picture Mr. Rogers cursing a fig tree, but is that really so offensive?
And also, lol, the whole “just for a start” comment... Are you implying that there are more moments when Jesus didn’t exude the gentleness of Mr. Rogers? Because you’ve covered all of them. Gentleness is great for occasions like Mr. Rogers’ show, but it is not pertinent to every situation. Mr. Rogers did not have to handle nearly as many serious or controversial issues as Jesus had.
I've already seen this entire documentary at an early screening and I have to say this: This is the best documentary ever made. If you love Mr Roger's, if you've never heard of Mr Roger's or if youve only even seen it once, watch this. It is worth it, I promise.
I cant believe after all this time, I still tear up over just the trailer. I have yet to see the movie but to know the impact he had on so many children including myself, priceless.
I always come back to this trailer. It’s immaculate. Might be one of my favorite trailers of all time. The scoring is just beautiful, and when the violins pick up when he says “Love or the lack of it.” Shivers. Shivers every time. I always come back to this trailer when I’m blue, when I’m down and out. That and the article that inspired the new Tom Hanks movie (Can You Say... Hero). Both of these, this trailer and the article, they both capture a man fighting against a whole platform of obscenity, they capture a man who used his presence on television for love and goodness. It was a desperate fight, and a fight he was destined to lose. But Mr. Rogers fought for us anyway because he believed that television and the children who watched it were capable of amazing things. Fight on, because Mr. Rogers thinks you can. And he means a lot to everyone here, I’m sure.
Same here. The trailer is amazingly effective and well put together, and the article compliments it perfectly. Or the other way around, either way I love the feeling of triumphant positivity that is exuded in both. Pulls me out of the dark place instantly.
that episode was with yoyo ma. I remember watching that episode as a kid. Mr. Rogers literally listen to him play the violin for 10-15 minutes straight in that taping. No words said after yo yo ma was done. Truly amazing..
My wife & then young son sent him a birthday card for his 70th. Weeks later, he sent each a personal letter, so loving & friendly, saying their envelope had fallen behind his desk (confessed it was really cluttered), so he didn't see it for some time. What he wrote to our little boy made us parents both cry, it was so sweet & kind. Such a wonderful human being, full of love freely shared with everyone. Lucky us!
joelnert me too, my friend. I grew up watching him. I sure do miss him. He will never, ever be forgotten. I can't wait to see this. Looking forward to it!
Jamie Mountain I’m an American and I grew up with this man, especially living in Ohio and having family in Pittsburgh which is where he was originally based. Look up videos and stories about him, he is in my opinion the greatest man who has ever lived.
Wow, you should definitely check out his show. It’s target audience is little kids so it won’t appeal to you obviously, but it’s honestly one of those things I know I’ll show my kids one day because it’s so universal
I'm from Italy, I never watched Mr. Roger until I discovered him 4 years ago and everytime I see him, it's a tornado of bittersweet feelings. It's not nostalgia, it's that Mr. Roger was one of the best human on Earth.
That's pretty common. Most adults in the US grew up with his show and didnt think much of him until well into adulthood. We can all be more like mr Rogers
Im 7 months pregnant and this is exactly what I plan to do:') Mr. Rogers was such a big part of my childhood can't wait to watch it again with my little girl💕💕💕🤰
Someone said people like Mr. Rogers don't seem to exist anymore. It feels so true. Yet if you try to be like him, and I try to be like him, that's at least two people like him who exist. So who's with me? Won't you be my neighbor?
This is all assuming that everyone in the world has the capacity to be Mr. Rogers, as well as the ability to access said capacity. He was the way he was through religion. Through deep spiritual thinking, like so many other people of genuine compassion. You kill religion, you kill community. You kill religion, you kill kindness.
Let's Get Cynical atrocities have been committed in the name of religion. Atrocities have also been committed for a hundred other bloody reasons, and many of them end up a hell of a lot worse. Any belief can create tribalism. What's the solution? Lack of belief? Without religion, life has no meaning. People become nihilistic, and, worse than that, without religion, there is no objective morality. And people stop getting married, as it's hard to see the future benefits of a decision that can easily be cast as constrictive. And so when the only kids you have as a society are ones seen as "inconveniences", raised by working single mothers, it becomes damn hard to maintain any kind of a social structure. So divisions arise. Bigotry. Because it's far easier to hate someone you've never met than someone you sit with every Sunday at church. It would be nice if we could all live as a community, and not just people living next to one another. Every culture everywhere has developed a system of religious belief. And, at least if we can't recognize the explicit importance of such beliefs, maybe we can at least agree that that's not trivial. That it's better to fully understand all the implications of religious belief before we start hacking it down with a chainsaw.

How many times did I contemplate at the age of 4 or less ... if I just broke the glass on the front of the television ... I could climb inside that TV box and I’d be with Mr. Rogers ... safe, protected and loved.
Elena Ht, this is weird, but I'm a newspaper reporter writing a story about people who cried while watching this trailer. Please email me at cspata@tampabay.com and I'll explain more, but I'd like to quote you. -Christopher Spata
Shufei, I'm a reporter writing a story about how this trailer is making people cry. I'd love to quote you on what you said, it's beautiful. Can you get in touch with me? cspata@tampabay.com
Just the mention of this man makes me tear up. Why? Because most times, it's just so shocking to think of someone capable of such unconditional love and kindness, it's so refreshing it makes my emotions go wild. Fred Rogers, a true saint on earth if there ever was one.
I'm 35 years old, and to this day, I get puzzled looks and burning questions when I say things like "please" and "thank you". They tell me, "I'm not used to hearing such manners from someone your age." And I always say, "I had three parents. Mom, Dad, and Mr. Rogers."
Ginger Rogue I am curious where you live if it is typical for people in your life to truly look “puzzled” and have “burning questions” over an adult saying please and thank you. That is a little odd.
@@IskandarTheWack don't lie, don't steal, love your neighbor as yourself... you are right @hoponthehype what radical laws they are. perhaps the latter one for you, at least.
Satanism's rules have more ethics than christianity does. (mainly cuz it's a fake religion to piss off religious nuts like you) Your god literally killed a guy's family and destroyed his farm and when asked why, god was just like "I am god" The commandments are more like ways to make christianity look less fucked up than it is and to keep people in line. You're honestly nitpicking for the 3 good things in the religion while the rest is legit fucked up (plus just heavily illogical and proven false 1000x over)
Message for you @@IskandarTheWack: "Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person." - Mr. Rogers
Yeah ! FYI the host of Reading Rainbow was Lavar Burton! The same actor who played Gordie LaForge on Star Trek The Next Generation and the voice of Kwame on Captain Planet and The Planeteers.
I am not from the USA, so my first contact with Mr. Rogers was through this documentary and i can tell you that this person had an incredible aura, he was just so amazing and inspiring. He touched my heart really hard. What an amazing human being
I grew up with Mr. Rogers. I am 40 year old man and I really think he was a national treasure. He embodied the best of we can be, kind, gentle, forgiving. We can learn from him at any age.
Whoever did the editing for this trailer did a remarkable job. Every second. When the music strikes, perfect timing. Capturing the reactions of the children, the words in the reviews by critics. It’s fantastic.
I remember growing up, I was with a lot of abuse in the house. I was always looked down upon because of my mother mistakes, and at the time I didn't feel like a person. But when Mr Rogers came on I would get so happy. Because he felt like a parent that I never had. He showed me my worth, when others kicked me down. This man is tbe reason why I grew up to be loving and kind. If I didn't have his teachings he taught me growing up. I would be so bitter and broken. I can't wait to see this and bawl my eyes out.
Same here with emotional abuse. I had a mother who always disapproved even though I was a really good timid kid and did what I was told. I could never once in my life get a compliment out of her, only negatives for everything I did. Mr. Rogers made me feel like I was worth something, like I was special just being me. He is my hero to this day, and I am 57. I watched him probably when I was too old to be watching, but it was so comforting. His kindness shone into my life and made a difference.
It’s mind blowing to see how many people have had the same experience.....I had some really bad stuff happening in my life as a child, but Mr. Rogers was kind and steady. He always showed up. I wonder if he had any idea how many lives he has saved? I am unashamed when I say that while I never met him in person; I feel like I knew him. I love that man, and always will.
This is the kind of documentary we all need right now.

@@ignacia3628 Many Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc...feel exactly the same way as you do about their faiths too, it's a big club..we've got T-shirts.
Fred Rogers is what I'd call a 'practising' Christian..others, not so much.

Mr. Rogers was a great man that impacted countless lives, mine included. ❤️
ruclips.net/user/dashboard?o=U
I loved watching him as a child. Mr. Rogers was beloved by more than one generation. Years ago, his car was stolen and it was reported in the news. The next day it was back in his driveway with an apology note. Even kids that later became criminals couldn't live with the idea of wronging him.
Here's the full version of his beautiful TV award speech: ruclips.net/video/TcNxY4TudXo/видео.html
And mine.
*IS* A great Man!
He was one of a kind.
xoxoxo
Jesse Golden Amen & I'm so sorry to hear that, but Jesus will ALWAYS & NEVER STOP LOVING YOU & YOUR SISTER, OK, but again I apologize that you had to experience that as a child, hopefully it made you & your sister stronger women
Hugs! I'll bet he did
It's a crime this movie wasn't even nominated for the Best Documentary Academy Award, they should be ashamed
This was no only the best documentary of 2018 but one the best films of 2018 as a whole
@TheBrabon1 Urgh! That was the same reasoning that they didn't nominate Senna in 2010
@TheBrabon1 WOW really, what is a documentary then??? Gimme a break. Shame on t he Academy! This was one of the best movies I watched in 2018!
At the end of the day this film is WAY too pure for the farce that is Hollywood.
Mr Rogers didn't need recognition from Hollyweird. He changed the world on his own terms.
Greatest man of the past 100 years.. Nobody has contributed more to our youth..

I don’t know if it’s cause I’ve had a rough week or not but I’m actually crying. I didn’t know the show I loved when I was young held such significance.
I'm sure Mr Rogers would tell you we all cry sometimes and that's ok.
You’re sweet :( thank you 💕💖
I hope your days get better :)
Wow that’s brilliant!
He even cared about the simplest things.
You made me cry, but they are good tears...thank you...

I got scared when I saw a trailer about Mr. Rogers with so many childhood heroes getting exposed as monsters. I'm so happy to see one turn out to be a real hero. I will gladly see this.
which childhood heroes?
Robert Evras 😍🤗
I am so happy a half hour a day made such a large difference in your life.
this comment truly got to me. I want to see this documentary even more now.
This guy is a legend. People like this seem to not exist anymore.
as mister rogers himself once said, "look for the helpers, you'll always find people who are helping"

There will never be another like Mr Rogers ,
It's so awesome that this is coming out , from beyond the grave he is coming back into our lives to allow us the chance to relive our childhood and reconnect with each other as a nation ....
Granola77 :o that's so cool!!! thanks for sharing that story :)
Cool story but he was a vegetarian and refused to eat anything that had a mother.
oldtwins na Whole Foods has always had vegetarian options.
Daniel Varney Mr.Rogers was a Presbyterian pastor who had the love of christ in his heart. Maybe you will find it one day too my friend.
KinG 311 its part of who he is. He is intentionally Christ like.
I used to watch him all the time as a kid. What a beautiful person.
10/10 movie.
you can see the show on RUclips. Lots of adults 3x or more older than you watch it.
Great story, but how did that even happen? The movies are the polar opposite of each other.
He truly was the embodiment of neighborly love and he only wanted to share that love to make this world a happier place for all.
it was meant to be :) see love all around you instead of crazy Dinos ;)
How do you mess up? The titles aren't even similar.

The best neighbor in the whole wide world

How when he was a pedophile 😳😔

I never watched a single episode of Mr. Rogers, but from this trailer, he was one of the nicest people in the planet, and it didn’t matter what your race or your beliefs were to him, he would always treat you as a human being, believing there is good heart in you and that people care about you. We need more people like this in the public eye now a days.
You don't have to watch his show to know his work. Just think of it like this, Literally every child friendly educational puppet show was inspired by this man.
Azazura Azura well the old Sesame Street when Jim Henson was alive was like Mr.Rogers and not like the new crap.
Neon Unicorn you are right. I remember just from growing up, watching it all. Thank you for staying the facts!
See this movie. 94 minutes will change the way you look at life. It may even change your life. It changed mine.
MrPerfesser I going to see it to
Have a beautiful day, neighbor.
not making this up but it changed mine as well. After watching this I was thinking two days straight about everything very very deeply.
MrPerfesser
And boy do I feel like a fool for choosing Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera over Fred Rogers. I reviled in animation because of how wild and wacky it can be. But as a man with Autism, I now see why so many Autistic people loved watching Fred’s show. He loved everyone, regardless of their skin color, physical disabilities, sexual preferences, or by what name they call God.
@@tamarajessup1398 God bless you
This was the first ever documentary I saw in theatres. I went with a friend who at first was like “this is gonna be stupid”
We left the theatre both in tears, and went again the next day with 3 other friends.
Awww! That's awesome.
Donna Pavlosky call your mom.
Brian Turnbough I would if I could. She passed away two years ago. I loved her and miss her very much!
Blessings and sorry for your loss!
Bless you, my mom is mentally ill, has been for as long as I can remember.

so beautiful, it brought me to tears.
rip mr rogers, you were my childhood hero

Joseph Ahmed me to only father figure i had being raised with a crazy mom that had lots of boyfriends in and out if the home
Rip to the only father I ever had. You have single handedly raised so many children over the years in love and i owe you for granting me the ability to exppress my feelings whenever it was in question. God blessed us with you.
While I had a loving father growing up, he talked about things and made me feel like I was the most special little girl on the planet.
Everyone talks about wanting to have a neighbour like Mr. Rogers, but maybe we should focusing on being that neighbour.
Cage SC 5 people are clueless
He was a Presbyterian minister and his show was very similar to Sunday school (minus the bible verses)

I've already seen this entire documentary at an early screening and I have to say this:
This is the best documentary ever made. If you love Mr Roger's, if you've never heard of Mr Roger's or if youve only even seen it once, watch this. It is worth it, I promise.
Thank you.
Patten Zitting I definitely will.
I cant believe after all this time, I still tear up over just the trailer. I have yet to see the movie but to know the impact he had on so many children including myself, priceless.
Mr. Rogers was my man. Miss that guy ❤️
Nelson Hobbs you and me both man.
Hay
He was my sanctuary from a very abusive and violent childhood.
I believe he was the positive role model that so many didn’t have; someone who truly cared and was a genuinely great person.
I'm sorry for you or anyone who had to go through something like that.
mine, too. our tears are for him. he was the ultimate TV Father.
So true!!!!!!!!

*What a special human being. This brings back so many memories from growing up. Can't wait to see this.*
It's on my playlist! I watch it regularly
Same here. The trailer is amazingly effective and well put together, and the article compliments it perfectly. Or the other way around, either way I love the feeling of triumphant positivity that is exuded in both. Pulls me out of the dark place instantly.
Nice to know a few others feel this way. I watch a TON of trailers....and this is in the top. Brilliantly constructed!
that episode was with yoyo ma.
Lucky us!
You're so lucky 😭
What a powerful trailer. Gave me goosebumps. Can't wait to watch

But damn this got me in the feels, looks like something I actually want to watch.
Jamie Mountain I’m an American and I grew up with this man, especially living in Ohio and having family in Pittsburgh which is where he was originally based. Look up videos and stories about him, he is in my opinion the greatest man who has ever lived.
You won't regret it watching his videos, an inspiration to us all.
They are airing a marathon of his show on Twitch right now. Here's the link to it. www.twitch.tv/misterrogers

Respetto
That's pretty common. Most adults in the US grew up with his show and didnt think much of him until well into adulthood. We can all be more like mr Rogers
I can't wait to pass on the magic of Mr. Rogers to my future children ❤️
Same here I loved his show it was always on TV

Become the change you want to see in the world.

How many times did I contemplate at the age of 4 or less ... if I just broke the glass on the front of the television ... I could climb inside that TV box and I’d be with Mr. Rogers ... safe, protected and loved.
Oh my god my heart
im crying just watching the trailer
Elena Ht, this is weird, but I'm a newspaper reporter writing a story about people who cried while watching this trailer. Please email me at cspata@tampabay.com and I'll explain more, but I'd like to quote you. -Christopher Spata
Shufei, I'm a reporter writing a story about how this trailer is making people cry. I'd love to quote you on what you said, it's beautiful. Can you get in touch with me? cspata@tampabay.com
Elena Ht Me too, and I didn't even grow up with him.
Elena Ht not alone
Me too Elena. There is something about even just hearing his voice that just makes me miss him and what he was in the world.
D.C. :/
We love you just the way you are.
Was that a typo? 35??? That sounds like you're old enough that your age group would say please/thank you
theflameoftruth who do you think taught millennials to act out
A much needed movie, especially right now when everyone seems to have forgotten what love and kindness is all about. Rest well, my neighbor!

Despite any differences between us I love Mr Rogers. He is Christianity in practice, not preaching. I hope the vast majority of you feel the same.
Christianity in practice is fucking horrible if you actually read the bible.
@@IskandarTheWack don't lie, don't steal, love your neighbor as yourself... you are right @hoponthehype what radical laws they are. perhaps the latter one for you, at least.
Satanism's rules have more ethics than christianity does. (mainly cuz it's a fake religion to piss off religious nuts like you)
Your god literally killed a guy's family and destroyed his farm and when asked why, god was just like "I am god"
The commandments are more like ways to make christianity look less fucked up than it is and to keep people in line. You're honestly nitpicking for the 3 good things in the religion while the rest is legit fucked up (plus just heavily illogical and proven false 1000x over)

Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow both gave me the same good feeling as a little kid.

Whoever did the editing for this trailer did a remarkable job. Every second. When the music strikes, perfect timing. Capturing the reactions of the children, the words in the reviews by critics. It’s fantastic.
The greatest thing that we can do is to help somebody know, that they're loved and capable of loving.

Griffin Kerwin me
Griffin Kerwin not the white nationalists. Especially when Mr. Rodgers shared the pool with that colored fella.
Miracle - sephiroth Bless you. This was Fred Rogers mission in life. To uplift people. If he heard your story he would be proud of you.
Same for me. Mr. Rogers was so comforting for me when I was a little girl. I didn't have a great childhood either.
I wish he could have stayed with us forever. His message is timeless.
