They are intended to get you from A to B cheap (not the initial investment, but the running costs), relaxed and reliable, while cars like the Alfa are for sunny weekend cruises on twisty back roads. I drive a model 3 as a daily, which is a great car imo, but my heart also beats for light cars, with a good sound and manual transmission.

I love the styling of the 166, and who can resist the beautiful V6 engine & exhaust notes? Such a shame that Alfa is no longer making a full-size saloon like the 166, due to profit/sales considerations. For me, the 166 remains one of the most beautiful modern-day Alfas.
My dad has had not one, but two of these beauties... The first like the one in the video and then the restyling. Sadly, both were diesel but still, strong engines.... especially the 2.4mjet 20v 185cv. Ah the memories!!

@@xandeo I had one, 147 model, and close friend has 3. Out of those 4, 3 engines died, crazy. Possibly issue with petrol engines (twin spark). diesel one is ok JTD. Also with 1750tbi 2012, engine failure happened 3 times in 2 years. And in general nothing special with alfa, just outside look is nice, and usually brakes are pretty good. Ride quality, interior, not much really, feels and drives like Fiat to me with some nice details. I do not understand love for it, but to each his own. That is my experience. probably some engines are better than others, but still. Maybe yours are still new, judge it once it is 5-10years old, then quality plays big factor.

@@shazboz Not the same cars, at all, FWD works great for a hot hatch or a sedan, but for a large sedan with a V6, made by Alfa, a brand known for its RWD, I'm sorry but for me it doesn't work. It's like a FWD BMW, and as a petrolhead, that's an heresy.

I have owned brands like VW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Fiat and now i have Alfa Romeo and BMW and i can tell you, the most reliable cars i had was the Mitsubishi Space Star, the Fiat Uno and now the Alfa Giulia... all the owners who i know with alfas are very happy with their cars, the only people i see talking the alfas are unreliable are people who never owned one... i can give you a lot of examples of "premium" brands with a lot of serious chronic problems with their engines... why people don't talk about this?? 🤔🤔

Even every mechanic I've gone too said the same thing. There are hundreds of forums about the Alfa unreliability. Most unreliable cars are italian, then french/german/american which is interchangable imo. Most reliable by far are japanese/korean cars. But feel free to have your own opinion

Something like 100 000 166's were produced so maybe 40% of them are survived, then we minus the 2,0 TS, 2,4 JTD and then we speak about wery small numbers.

The 2 light are: empty tank, almost common with V6 🤣 and ESP is off so no electronics. No faults on the car :)
