I remember exactly where I was when I heard them the first time. It was in a record store in Eskilstuna, Sweden. I was 15 years old and waiting for my parents, browsing albums aimlessly. The guy behind the counter asked if I was looking for anything special, I answered I didn't really know. He asked what I liked and I answered Metallica. -Have a listen to this one, he said and gave me a pair of headphones. Embers fire started playing and I was in a new world, I had never heard anything like it. My dad walked in the store and said it was time to go. He encouraged me to buy the album but for some reason I didn't. On the way home all I could think about was how much I wanted to hear that again. I bought the album a day or two later i think and I've been lost since then in underground metal. I can still remember the smell of the record store even.

This song and album helped me stay alive during the teenage years! Now I am over 40 and PL is still the greatest inspiration for my guitar playing and music writing!

It started as a ordinary gig really for me probably around 2002, I took one of my buddies to Summer darkness in the Netherlands and paradise lost performed there live on a Sunday night I guess it was the first time I called in sick

Back in 1994 I would be studying in my room for days in a row. I'dd listen to Icon for hours in a loop. A tape cassete playing on a walkman connected to a guitar amplifier. Best PD album ever "Icon".

Сколько времени уходило на поиск клипов и записей! Это было круто, каждый месяц новое открытие для себя . Blew my teenage mind. As a kid, I loved Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Ac/DC and Black Sabbath: within a week I met Paradise Lost, Entombed, Pantera and Slayer. I don't think I've quite recovered yet

Pierwszy raz usłyszałem dźwięki Embers Fire w RMF w audycji Piotra Metza "Ostro", to był szok ale po pierwszych taktach wiedziałem, że to Paradise Lost. Pamiętam wycieczkę do Katowic, na Osiedle Paderewskiego do sklepu gdzie nabyłem kasetę za 54000 zł (mam ją do dziś).

Music of my youth. 42 soon and this band never gets old. Gotta admit that having them rehearse in studios where I used to work 'wore thin' in the late 90's during the Host writing, rehearsing and recording sessions 😂 (the floor vibrated and Nick was out of tune 😅). Funny times though 😉
I'm 46 and enjoying this excellent music. It gets better with age.i have 3 guitars that I never play. life can be disappointing..

Right around this time, Icon and Draconian Times (I love these records), I remember they were certainly poised to really break...and right then they made a drastic change in their sound with One Second-not a bad album at all, but too sudden a change I think...Not gonna lie, they kinda lost me after that one....until they got heavy again...Just my opinion..
Totally agree, Icon and Draconian Times are fantastic records. Definitely at their peak in terms of sound and songs here.

Paradise Lost are one of the last real Pop/Rock, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Death Metal, Doom Metal, Goth Metal (as you will) in the UK. This song is so under rated as to are Paradise Lost. One of the best lyrics I feel every written "I can see no reason in taking your own life when any moment death calls". I've been that low, and can relate to the lyrics in this masterpeice after constantly being bought down - (as I guess many other people reading this have) . I have now found a "True Belief". If people cant except me for who I am then its their problem. Can't wait for them to be playing the Sugarmill in Hanley in Feb 2022.

I like the part from 2:29 to 3:00, they play slow, heavy and I can feel the anger and when he shouts - oh nooooo- it really feels like .he means it. This riff and his voice don't come out of my head

I like how they did the last two bars of the chorus - previous to last is bass and guitar 3 octaves apart and in the last bar they play the same octave. It's such a cool effect.
