Just picked up the pants and it is a robust piece of gear. Plan to use it for PNW winters in temps of low 40’s all the way up to maybe low 60’s. I upgraded the knees to CE2 for more protection but holy smokes the review is spot on about the comfort level of the new nucleon armor. For me the heft of the pant does not necessitate the suspenders, unlike some of those super duty RevIt! models. Love the myriad of adjustment options, and lastly the light grey color option looks tech and adds good visibility for low light fall and winter riding conditions.
Forgot to mention I pair the pants with AStar’s TGP RV2 WP, a more short length, sporty built jacket with all the comprehensive features without the adventure-look. There is NO wind coming through these bad boys!
Hi, I recently tried the Alpinstars Andes V3 pants in L size, they fit tight around my waist, however the knees protectors were a bit under my knees, you know any possible solution for this? I am afraid of trying the M size and being too tight around my waist.
Take a look at the short length in these pants. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/alpinestars-andes-v3-drystar-waterproof-pants/ - Van
Fran how tall are you? My Olympia pants is the same fitting. There is slot for the pars placement but still on the highest setting still sits below the knee while standing still. Unsure if its the same riding in the hike.
Dude either you made a mistake and there is no way you are wearing a large, or you skipped leg day one too many times, or the sizes are somehow different if you order from alpinestars direct. I am 6'0 and weigh 190 pounds with a build similar to yours and I ordered the L, and couldnt fit it over my thighs. Ordered the XL and it works but it is still bordering uncomfortable when in the seated position.
I am wearing the Alpinestars Ridge V2 Boots. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/alpinestars-ridge-v2-waterproof-boots/ - Van
Do you notice the waist opening seems a little on the small side? I have the same pants. 185 lbs 5'9" 31" waist. I can wear a pair of cargo style shorts under them put it is a wrestling match to get in them. Just seems they should have opened that up some more. Once they are on, I tighten the waist adjustment a little and they fit perfect.
I do not remember having that issue but I was also not wearing a pair of shorts under the pants. If they feel good once you have them up I would say you are good to go. - Van

What textile pants do Alpinestars do that are 4 seasons? So ones you can remove the waterproof and the thermal liner out of. While also having vents? Thanks
Good review, very informative. would these pants work good for adventure touring and light off road use? Looking for water proof pants I can use trial riding and some light camping.
They do not publish this and I have not seen the other lengths. At 5' 11" the length of the large is just right for me. I would give the short length a shot. - Van
Have you had a chance to check out the Andes V3 gloves? Already purchased the jacket & pants. Super nice, super warm & great bang for the buck! Curious if the gloves will be as warm or if i should go for the SP-365 or WR1-V2. Will be using when weather drops below mid 60s

Hi Brian. I’m a big RS TAICHI fan and was all set to purchase the RS Taichi Drymaster Frontier All Season Jacket RSJ709 (wish you had a video reviewing this jacket!) and RS Taichi Matrix Over Pants RSY547. Then I saw the new Alpinestars Andes V3 Drystar Waterproof jacket & pants. Now I’m torn. I live in the Bay Area, California, so our temps year round can vary drastically. What is your take on the choice between these two options? I’d really like an all-season set but I do have other gear I can wear deep into the summer. Thanks in advance!
This is a tough one because we all have different internal thermostats. I feel like these will be best in cooler to warm temps. In very hot temps these will be warm when you are not moving to get the ventilation active. - Van
Very informative video! I need a suggestion though. I live in the part of India where it is usually warm for most of the days but we do have rain and winter as well. Do you recommend these pants for me? If not these then which A-stars pants would you recommend?
These pants would serve you well if you need to be able to manage both warm temps and wet weather. While they will not be as cool as a pair of mesh pants in the heat the do vent well and have the ability to keep you dry in the wet weather. - Van
2 questions: Would the bottoms fit inside of the aStar SMX6 boots? With the vents closed, how much of a wind barrier is provided with the thermal liner installed? Thank you for your service!
The pants should tuck into the SMX 6 as long as you calves are not huge. The SMX 6 can be worn over a race suit so there is no reason these pants will not fit. As for the vent question the pants are waterproof so there should not be any wind penetrating them when the vents are closed. - Van
They do offer direct ventilation to help keep you cool. Whether these will be right for you in the summer really depends on your internal thermostat and the temps you will be riding in. Odds are these will get the job done for you. - Van
Wow! These look so premium for sub $250! So many features and creature comforts, I think ill pick a pair of these up. Do you think they would wear well on a sportbike? I've also been looking at the Hyper Drystar pants
The pants themselves are waterproof for sure. It is important to make sure the pants go over the outside of your boots and you have a jacket that is also waterproof that covers the waist. - Van
You can zip this to the V2 jacket no problem. If you want to wear these as overpants you will just need to make sure you have enough room under them to make that happen. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear I was about to ask the same question before I noticed the topic has already been adressed; I have a V2 jacket and was just about to purchase the V2 trousers however I found that here in the UK the V3 trousers are only marginally more expensive than V2. The sizing on these is crazy for anyone over 200lbs. I swear everyone that says they fit is rounding up their own measurements. I'm 5'11, 220lbs, and by no means a complete tub of lard. No way would I fit into a L or XL. I normally wear 34-36 depending on the fit for my legs, I got the XXL and the waist is maxed out, and barely get my thighs in there. No room for my boys in this when I throw leg over the bike or sit down which was the deciding factor they were unwearable. Going up to XXXL (insane) and getting them hemmed, as the short version would have an even more ball ascending inseam. There is also zero chance someone with big calves is going to pull these over a set of full length boots with the recommended sizes. With the 2XL, during the two days I put up with wearing them, I just tucked them into my boots.
Good work, you actually reviewed it properly including inside out. Wish more reviewers learnt from you.
