Thanks for the update. Was getting a little concerned but totally understandable now that your son is back at school. My current thought is to plan for 180 days when I do my SOBO attempt next year and use December as a cushion, slow and steady. 😅 You are doing great 👍 and I look forward to your next update.
Hi Recon, As you might know, hurricane Helene has raised hell in the southern part of the AT. Erwin TN was flooded. The street bridge across the Nolenchucky is gone, and the hostel there was badly flooded. The higher elevations saw 100 mph gusts, plus in some places they had up to 30 inches of rain. Currently many roads across the mountains are closed do to flooding and landslides. What I would be concerned about would be the number of blowdowns that will take weeks to clear on the trail, the work arounds on blown out sections and resupply in flood effected trail communities. Maybe confirm at ATC in Harpers Ferry. Old School
Hi Recon, Since this video is nearly a month old you should be in NJ by now. Hope you enjoyed Sages Ravine and the cliff walk on Mt Everett. You should be making good time along the Housatonic road walk in CT. Stay the course, Old School
I like them a lot. They seem to be holding up pretty well. They have nice, thick, cushiony soles. They have wider toe boxes , so my toes are not getting squished.
@@ReconHikes thanks, I’ll probably end up getting a pair. Im doing a week long hike headed north in northern Virginia in 3 weeks. Not sure where you are but maybe we’ll bump into each other. Happy trails.
Ruth and Mike are awesome! 😊 BACON WRAP

@@OldManDaniel yep, he doesn’t have as time as he did over the summer. There are three episodes waiting for him to get to.
@@OldManDaniel I think 180 days is very reasonable. My plantar fasciitis is limiting my daily mileage, so I will probably take longer.

800 miles of the southern portion of the AT is closed indefinitely.
Yes, I still have several hundred miles before I get there. But I am concerned, and may have to end my hike when I get down there.

@@MarioTricomi my son is back in college so there is going to be a delay in getting the videos out. I am in Pennsylvania now.
Hey Recon,
I was wondering how you like the Brooks now since you’ve had them a couple of weeks. Thanks and happy trails.

@@lifealert66 yeah, it’s certainly possible. Have a great hike.
Hi Recon,
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
