Killing it man! I just did a big rearrange of my process/card storage station. Big undertaking ! ready to start opening/listing new products again this week. Keep it up!
I like how down to earth and genuine you are with sharing your passion for magic cards and teaching us your grind to build a foundation for a successful TCG business. I was jobless for about a month and just decided to try to get my collection organized so I can make a little extra money. Now I have a full time job that makes me less money than my past job but gives me more hours to spend on my TCG player store. Which in the end I will hopefully reach the success you have when it comes to getting and keeping the momentum going. Your videos are really helpful. Thank you for the content. I’m having a lot of fun!!!!
That's awesome to hear! Sometimes finding that balance of enough pay to keep you going, but time to explore potential better opportunities is the way to do it. Glad the videos are helping out as well, keep grinding!
You have the best videos I've found on tcgplayer. I started selling 3 weeks ago and have made level 3 and you're videos are so helpful! I would love a discord for sure!
Awesome! You'll be to level 4 in no time then. Appreciate you watching and glad you're enjoying it! I'll give the discord more thought, seems like people may be interested in it
Thanks so much! It's still a work in progress, but excited to keep building it out. Need to get some stuff on the walls... got my full art set for MKM, just need a new frame, got the size wrong.
Hey Nick, thanks for these videos. I started doing this about the same time you did and being able to compare my own process with yours has been fun. It's interesting to see where the similarities and the differences lie. Keep it up!
It's been a fun journey so far! Glad my videos are treating you well too -- even if it's just something to listen to while packing orders and whatnot haha. Thanks!
You've actually inspired me to start a TCGPlayer store! I just need to figure out how to set it up from Puerto Rico-it's a bit of a challenge, but I'm taking the steps to make it happen. Thank you for the push!
Comment something, lol. Great video and congrats on breaking 1k! Quick question .... WHERE did you get that dresser for your singles!? I need it in my life lol. Thanks!
Really enjoying the content, as I'm on a similar MTG side hustle passion journey while juggling a full-time job. I'd absolutely join a Patreon/Discord community, and will assist in any way to get this off the ground
I started out like that as well, sorting by rarity, and then later sort again by alphabet by each rarity and then combine them. After doing that for a while, I realized that I'm not really gaining anything from sorting by rarity in the first place because it ends up all mixed up anyways by alphabetical order. So now, I just straight away sort them by alphabet, which has helped speed the process up a lot. Great videos and good luck!
The thing I still like about rarity for now is just that R/M cards are majority of my orders so I'm flipping through a lot less cards. BUT if I get into direct and am picking more orders I think solely alphabetical will be the move.
Lighting tip: you have some many white items in the frame it throws off the white balance. Depending on your camera, you can set a custom white balance it might help.
Yeah I dialed in the lighting for my desk setup, but the other camera I have I need to play around with the white balance and lighting options more for when I'm "on the go" and the background and lighting keeps changing..
i live for your videos!!! i use a box cutter to open up packs - super efficient and of the thousand or so packs i’ve opened, not a single card was damaged!
Yo vitamin doing a financial group would be awesome to be honest. I kinda thought that myself with you because you seem like a decent seller and I have been a part of a finance community before and it was nice to do group buys and group speculations and stuff like that.
I currently use MoxAlpha for speed.. then after I buy boxes I do an initial batch of 10-15 to see how they actually play out only counting the M/R & valuable U/C. Link in the description for MoxAlpha and if you ever use it, throw in my code "GV"!
Got unfinity box for 70$ last year. Misprint jace, 2 foil puppy's (bith arts) and 3 shocks 😲 very very happy to build on my un cube aswell. Also sticker goblin says hi
The tray is Titanshield, the shelving build out is all from IKEA. If you look up CNA Games, one of his recent videos has all the links to build the same!
I tend to figure out where in the packs for the set im working on that day the commons are and just pull those out of each pack without even looking at them. Besides that I basically follow the same process.
@@jasonbenson7436 Heck yeah you actually watched it all hahah. The cabinet was copied from CNA Games. He has a few videos about his card storage and links all the pieces you need from IKEA to replicate it! First two BCW boxes perfectly
They have 3 tiers, buy it outright, rent or lease-to-own. $29,500 to buy it outright, $1350/mo to rent, and then depending on length of terms you can get different prices for lease-to-own. I am going to rent, which 3 months can be rolled into the value of the machine if it makes sense for me, which I hope I can hit it hard and make it work. It'll allow me to create all the custom products I discuss at a much faster rate which will be huge to test viability since that's the main point of the Phyzbatch. Going to make sure it makes sense for my workflow and can actually level up my output. If not, I will return it and I am not required to keep it.
What I like to do as I sort through packs and boxes is have cardkingdom up on a screen. You can sort high to low on a particular set you are working on. Ya CK's prices are inflated but it gives you the idea of the price so you can pluck out all the $2+ cards.
I'll try out their platform -- I reference TCGPlayer, but it's a little bulky and includes too many individual printings so it's not easy at a quick glance.
@@GameVitamins Ya TCG is more accurate, but it's too messy to quickly sort/filter through a whole base set. CK is clean just have to be aware of the slightly inflated prices.
How much initial investment do you think is necessary for starting a business like this? I’d like to start collecting and selling some mtg, since a part of my collection is small and old.
I’m going to make a video soon discussing more about the finances and capital needed to get to different “tiers”. The nice thing is you can start pretty small, whether that be buying bulk collections nearby, or breaking down commander decks, etc. For what I do with boxes I wouldn’t recommend buying 1 box and trying to pull profit, because some are duds and some are great. But you can average closer to the actual EV of a product the more of it you have, but that requires more capital. So I’d say start with what is comfortable to lock down your process. Try to find opportunities that are low cash outlay, may require a bit more time, but will have positive returns. Collections / bulk / commander decks seems like a good spot to start for that.
I statted to get back into collecting pokemon cards. And now i wanted to start investing on it and make some money at the same time. Any advice? I like how professional your videos are. Especially the shipping methods. Helped me a ton.
Thank you very much! I am actually going to record a video about investing vs reselling and at what point each make more sense. Investing to profit at scale is tough unless you have a ton of capital to lock into products. On the flip side, finding ways to profit on TCGs takes time and effort, but your return on invested capital can be much higher. Things to think about, but I'll have a video within a week or so discussing this more!
This is why I'm looking to get the sorter. I'd like to turn all the bulk lands into land lots, C/U bulk lots, full sets for lands, token lots, etc. Maybe mono color lots for people trying to get into it. Plus it'll all be NM vs junky bulk, so hopefully that helps.
One thing I have done when sorting new sets is making a list that i keep in front of me with all common/uncommons >.15 cents. I pull them out as I go. You really start to get an eye for the cards you need to pull and then you don’t have to go back through them again. Now… if you have a card sorter this is a waste if time. I dont have a card sorter.
Yeah I do this to an extent as well, try to see what C/U that are cheaper sell well and I start to learn what to set aside and what to not bother with. Gotta find as many micro-efficiencies as you can! I don't have one yet, but once I do, it'll be interesting to see how it impacts the process.
