While rafted up to a Swedish boat, Relax, in Nanortalik we meet some sailors from Catalonia and Spain aboard a boat that partly inspired Drake's cruising dreams. Plus we give a peek into some of Paragon's design updates!

Several people have asked where we are during the coronavirus pandemic. Currently Paragon is docked in the north of Scotland where we spent the winter sheltered from the rather vicious storms that roll through this part of the world during that time.
Our plans had been to sail to the Faroe Islands at the end of April and then on to Svalbard again for the summer. After that our plan was to spend the winter in Norway where Paragon would see some real snow for the first time since we’ve been aboard.
Alas, at present these plans are all on hold. All countries around us have closed their borders, and all harbours within Scotland are only open for essential traffic such as ferries, cargo, and fishing boats.
So we wait. We are unable to move, but that does not mean we are not being productive. There are many projects aboard Paragon, both large and small, and we also have some exciting episodes to edit.
It appears the most important thing we can do to help during this time is to self-isolate and try to stay healthy, and so that is what we are doing. We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy as well.
    Take care,
    Drake & Monique

DrakeParagon: I have a boat (Ericsson 34) in San Diego Bay. The Port Authority closed the bay to all non-essential traffic; therefore, myself and most everyone else can not even go for a day sail. My trip to the Channel Islands of Southern California is on hold, so I too feel your pain. I think of it as just waiting out a storm. There are few sails as glorious as those that follow storms. This storm we are currently in shall also pass. I’m looking forward to the majesty and glory that will follow. Be Well, From San Diego, CA.

Unfortunately your wishes may not come true, as this 'storm' will not pass: it heralds a change in the cultural 'climate' and the restrictions (in some form) are here to stay. This disease is political, not biological: flu like illnesses are seasonal, as is CV19. Look up the 'Great Barrington Declaration', signed by thousands of doctors and epidemiologists and virologists. .

Oh boy what a great episode. I just wanted to be on the boat with you guys enjoying that awesome curry and talking boats and stuff. I could feel the atmosphere. Lockdown means not getting to my boat for who knows how long but your videos always warm my heart. Contessa’s are all great boats and Jeremy Rogers is still building new Contessa 32’s in Lymington UK. I will share this to the Contessa page as I know his wife often comments on there. They will be interested to see one of their boats in Was built the same year as my Rival 32. Until next time you guys all stay safe wherever you are and thanks. Andy UK

Hey Andy, good to see you as always, and we're glad that this video is giving you (and so many others) a little reprieve during these strange times. Yes, we're staying put at the moment and are just glad that we hadn't already started sailing before all the lock downs began. And thank you for sharing the video. I'd be curious if anyone on the site recognises the boat as one they owned. I know once we started posting videos, a lovely woman who used to own Paragon got in touch. It's been so cool to hear stories of Paragon's past and even see some old photos!
Take care and hopefully we'll all be out on the water again soon. Cheers -M

Yes, Drake and I were looking at the dinner party with a bit of longing as well. It isn't often that we have that many aboard, but it's always fun to do so! As for the small boat, Drake has a bit of a crush on small, maneuverable boats like the Contessa and others. I've recently learned a certain song is being blocked a lot, not by the artist who wrote it or their record company, but by some schlub who sampled a portion of the very beginning of the song. Arguing it with YT is liable to get your whole channel blocked. Guessing the sampler's label and Google are tied somehow.

Very interesting video. The Contessa 26 is certainly an interesting boat. Not a model one would think as ideal for circumnavigation. I’ve also read Maiden Voyage by Tania Aebi. As you recall she had lots of problems with her boat in the beginning. But I don’t know if there’s another 26’ boat out there with it’s proven pedigree.
I was most impressed by your ability to host all those folks for dinner!
I understand that you are in Scotland at this time. I was watching a travel video on Scotland and the canal looked interesting as did the towns and countryside. I think it would be a great place to explore.

      Hey Neon,
Meeting people is one of the main reasons we are voyaging all over the world. Telling our story, and the stories of the interesting people we meet along the way, is what this channel is about. At this point we’ve published the in depth interviews of over 30 people, and it was a honour to interview every single one of them. We also have at least another 12 interviews that we’ve completed filming that we can’t wait to start editing soon.
So as you can see, making interviews is a part of what defines us. It’s a part of our DNA. They are all DrakeParagon episodes. We feel that these interviews are our little contribution to the cruising community and are something that we will always strive to do.
There is so much coming up including a lot of sailing aboard Paragon, in depth reviews of our favourite sailing gear, experiencing new cultures and, most importantly, meeting a lot of wonderful people. We would love for you to continue to join us on this adventure.
We hope you are well and staying healthy in these strange times. Please take care and be safe,

However most of us are not in that situation. 1 or 2 episodes would be fine, but 5 jeez. It's too much. I only learned about CO because a schoolmate of mine in the Philippines posted about the launch of their new build at Jeremy Rogers in England, where she works at.
