Couldn't agree more. I'm 42. I've heard this song a million times. Greatest song of all time. Just conversing, I think Achilles Last Stand is a close second. For me.
How do you reconcile the fact that they went to complete and utter SHIT after Eddie and his planet-sized ego fired Dave Abbruzzese? I agree that everything up to and including Vitalogy is timeless but after that? Man, pure garbage…
LOL I am 73 and I cant get enough of Pearl Jam. The MTV unplugged concert is the best I have ever scene. His raw emotion that come though blows me away!!!
I have been listening to this song for the last 13 years, everytime when Eddie sings the verse "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, In somebody else sky, but why can't it be mine..?" it makes me cry everytime. I thought, maybe years later I would find the love of my life, get married, move into a beautiful house, I had found someone thought she was the one, but as the verse says, "I know you'll be a star, In somebody else sky, but why can't it be mine..", the same happened.
@@craizcat2276 but what if he doesn't? Its' cool to be optimistic and kind but, what if dude turns 98 yrs. Old tomorrow, is 3 foot 7 1/2 inches tall with a little bit of a weight problem and has considers crushing 2 pots of coffee and 4 Viagra a very promising date. Call me crazy but, you never know
Love the roughness of it, still makes me appreciate the production behind the album version, especially in crafting the "sound world" we get to experience on Ten.
Get an old tube driven Ampeg amp, preferably with built in reverb. And get a cheap tremolo pedal. Or if you can find some of the cheap practice amps from the 70’s that had the built in tremolo effect. Then record it on an old Foster 4 track recorder, using a cassette tape.
Is anyone here a drummer? Want to collaborate with me? I have idea to do a cover of PJ songs post Dave A but to play it like 'What If Dave A behind the kit' for the song like Sirens, Given To Fly, Light Year, World Wide Suicide, Hail Hail and other stuff.
Nop, search in Google, in the early demos they were recording with temole of the dog and asked de drummer (Matt Cameron) to record them, then when they met Eddie they also hired Dave Krusen, but the demo's instrumentals are from Matt Cameron
Guan Peralba you mean the demo that they put together to send to Eddie before he came up to Seattle? I think after he came up Matt still helped with the demos like you said, then they hired Dave Krusen officially to start Mookie Blaylock, and started playing live shoes and recording Ten. But, Matt Cameron definetly played on the demos that Stone and Jeff sent to Eddie when he was down in San Diego before he came up to Seattle, and I think Matt continued to help with demos until they officially hired Dave K. in the band to start playing live shows and then record Ten.
Matt Cameron played on the one demo called "Stone Gossard Demos" It's the tape that made it's way to Eddie Vedder in San Diego via Jack Irons. Then they got Dave Krusen on drums and Eddie came in from Seattle and they started recording demo's, including this one. Matt Cameron only played on the original instrumental demo before they even had a singer. This is Dave Krusen. Final Answer.
The ONLY song in my 44 years on this Earth that NEVER gets old! Pearl Jam has been my band for 30 years.... LEGENDS

Seriously? Have you heard Benaroya Hall 2003? I have heard hundreds of live versions that were INCREDIBLE...

This is definitely Dave Krusen on drums.

Eddie sounds scared to sing.
It's the original demo...Mike and Jeff sent him the instrumental track and he dubbed this over it...pretty spectacular
