This was a stand alone documentary. Ronald Hutton is a specialist in Witchcraft and Pagan studies, and a druid, himself. Not a presenter of "oddities".
I don't understand. How can he be labelled the father/creator of wicca when he himself was initiated into the practice ritualistically, by practitioners? You almost trivialise the practice by saying it is new, not ancient...then point out that its been a part of various cultures as an ancient practice. I think the only spell here is the one that's been cast on you in the face of a charismatic, quirky showman character whose familiarity appeals to you.
Consider Buddhism and Christianity. How could Jesus be the son of God if all of his teachings come from Buddha and other wise gurus during his 20's? He brought forth the teachings in a way that made it mainstream amongst western culture.
There is a book by William Winwood Reade called the Veil of Isis / Mysteries of the Druids. It's a fascinating look into the real origin and traditions of Brit-ein / Gaul.
He practiced other forms of magic like Aliestair Crowley. There were groups such as the Golden Dawn and the Freemasons and the O.T.O amongst others. One could be initiated into many forms of mystery and magickal practices, during the Edwardian period the concept of 'new thought' was still popular too.
Wonderful! Powerful! Watching it 'one more time!' Just so so well done! Dr. Hutton is a joy - even if he was turned into a frog, he'd be a delightful one!
Wicca might be silly BUT paganism is not new and there is a REASON why people are drawn to this. Still there is a bunch of nonsense wrapped up into it.
Not all witches are wiccan's, and not all wiccans are witches. A solitary witch is very powerful in their own right. Spells work on intent. I'm an extremely powerful solitary witch. I have even saved a life, just through my own power. Not all pagans are wiccan. I'm a pagan, but I'm not a wiccan. I'm a kemetic, aka a kemetic pagan.

"Wiccans are notoriously secretive." B.S. Wiccans have no problem talking about who they are. Maybe they just don't talk to him. I've never asked anyone, but I've had many people tell me they belong to this religion.
I have absolutely no doubt that Gerald accessed real power. I know from my own life experiences that there is real power in such realms. However that power is demonology. My belief is that the interviewer may have been respectful and honoring yet at the same time perhaps not terrifically discerning. What plumb line does one use to decide if something is worthy or true? That was never established. It sort of struck me more like: "Oh isn't this fun..." rather than qualitative discernment. What will the ultimate fruit be? Was that ever probed?
The " interviewer " is Prof . Ronald Hutton an authority on modern pagan witchcraft and Wicca . He is also the author of several books that deal , in an in depth and scholarly manner , with the subject of ancient pre Christan religion in Britain . Therefore , he is fully sware of the origins of Wicca , how it came about and exactly what is involved , aswell as being knowledgeable of movements that drew on the pagan past of Europe , prior to Wicca .
There is a major difference between so called 'magic' (understand, stage magic) and real magick (magickal practise). Not all wiccans practise magick, though. Hope this helped. Blessed be.
These Wicca / Pagan people in the woods are only around 10 or 12 people in obviously small groups, why not larger groups and spreading it around the country inviting other's to the rituals 😮
I'm not bothered. Generally most widely known ideas are promoted by men, even if they don't originate everything they promote. There's something in men that needs to put himself out there and create a lasting legacy based on his ideas or creations. In certain times it was harder for women to be authors or public intellectuals, but not so much since the 1920s or 30s. Perhaps women have felt less compulsion to put themselves forward even after it was possible because they were often more involved in rearing children and organising local committees, and so their contributions were more felt within their family and neighbourhood. We all have our own ways of making impact, and neither is better or more important probably.
You can either be initiated into a wiccan coven where you practice with that coven. They have set rules that depend on the high priestess and high priest and the tradition. Anyone can be wiccan. It's an open religion after all. Depends on what you believe really. My suggestion is finding books on the subject. Look at several different authors because they always write about their personal beliefs. Do research on the different traditions. Think of them of like different denominations of the religion. Gardenerian, Alexandrian, Dianic, Seax-wica are a few. Some make you take oaths of secrecy so you may not find many specifics on them. If you prefer to be solitary(practice by yourself), there are tons of books about solitary wicca. Like any religion you would be interested in, do research in the history of it. People tend to hate on wicca. Mostly because of how it is in the US. It's become a very fluffy religion here. Also, you don't have to be a witch to be wiccan. Nor do you have to be wiccan to be a witch. And witch is a gender neutral term.
Threefold law says: what you send comes back to you Wiccan Rede: do what you will harm none. Most wiccans do white magick, if your looking for black magic, go to luciferianism or something.
@@Supernimo735 the three fold law came from a fictional book written by Gardener that was later added to a set of rules that were passed down in a family of a hereditary witch that wasn't even wiccan. It got really popular and adapted in the US when wicca was gaining popularity here.

There's nothing like "dark magick". Magick simply is, it is neither "good" or "bad". For what and how exactly you decide to use the power of magick depends only on you. We wiccans generally believe that every energy in the Universe is neutral, - it's not good and it's not bad. Hope this answer is enough.

This is a disgrace, honestly... Witches cannot fly on a broom, that's ridiculous. In ancient times christians thought that witches can fly a broom (there were even some testimonies which were usually made up), until a christian (I cannot remember his name right now though) wrote a book where he explained that witches do not fly physically on their brooms but it's their astral body. Interestingly enough, he wasn't burned at the stake for claiming this, on the contrary, this theory was accepted by the christian community. Also, witches do not live (only) in the woods. That's only in fairytales, again, it's ridiculous! Witches are everywhere, we live in the city, by the sea, on countryside, etc. Just as regular people do... We are not scary and we are not evil. We love nature, we heal, we cleanse. That's what witches do. But don't be mistaken, do not mess with us, although we are not evil, if you hurt us or our loved ones, you will feel our rage, and you do not want that.
@@night_nick1739 maybe, maybe not.. I would say either islam or catholicism is but I don't know for sure either. Exactly, nature worship. By the way, I love cats as well - unlike witches and other satanist though who only keep cats as pets to slaughter them and drink their blood.
@@littleandre4957 You couldn't be more wrong. This is really sad. First of all, yes, in the past there were human and animal sacrifices, even though you should know that the animals that would be later sacrificed for the ritual purposes were treated with respect and love, their body was used for many other things than just for ritual purposes after they were killed, so that they didn't die in vain completely. It was usually some kind of a sick (ill) animal that would die anyway. Many cultures and religions around the world was doing these sacrifices. This couldn't happen today in the modern witchcraft, of course, and especially not in Wicca religion. I don't know where you got this information about us witches slaughtering and murdering our animals, our pets, and let me just tell you - that is ridiculous and it's a lie. We witches love our pets, we keep them as our company, we care about them and they care about us, many times they become our familiars. We differenciate between the theistic and atheistic satanism. Theistic satanists believe in the deity or being called Satan. It is not evil as christians claim. Theistic satanists are not evil, they just believe in a different being or deity than you do. They have the right, don't forget that, thank you. Then we also have an atheistic satanism (I reccomend you to read books of A. S. LaVey). They do not believe in a deity or being called Satan, they don't believe it's a real entity. They believe they are their own gods and goddesses, they view Satan more as the represantation or manifestation of free will. Also, satanism, wicca, witchcraft and paganism are all different things...

There's nothing like "white" or "black" magick (we spell it magick to differenciate between stage magic and actual magickal practise). Magick is only one, - there is no need to categorize. For what exactly you use the power of magick depends on the witch. No, the herbs and plants - that is no nonsense. We work with them to heal, to curse, in our spells/rituals, etc. It's our practise. Wrong.... Gerald only resurrected Wicca from the shadows. It was here long before Gardner.
Wicca wasn't, Wicca is syncretic, gathering whatever that was still practiced in various places, and bits and pieces from the books Gardner, Williamson and Crowley could find. Much like the Druids, we simply don't know what they really did, we only have bits and pieces left.

I used to be wiccan but that's why I left because it felt like it was just taking things from other stuff to make it into it's own thing. Quite literally what all modern paganism is. You saying that about wiccans is stupid considering half the shit that hellenists, celtic pagans, druids etc believe were stolen from other people.

The salt, the water, blood
We sway and chant, chant and sway
The air is cold then hot then cold
We call our Lord appear this day. -
The cup is passed from lip to lip
We taste the life, the sweet sweet blood
The hour now is two
We sway and chant, all hands held
Our prayer for him APPEAR. -
Amid bay leaves and incense sweet
We sway and chant and pray
The hour is three we all are one
Our Lord has heard our plea
In suit of white his aura bright
We prostrate ourselves in love. -
He fills our minds and takes our self
In rapture. joy and bliss
He takes the cup and drinks the life
The altar sacrifice we offer
The salt, the water, blood. -

THE VISIT - Lili
The night is near, the clouds are dark and we are coming home
We've crossed the lakes, the plains, the Styxx
Our Gypsy guides push through the mire
And trudging on they see the fire
Unseen by others The senses of the blind alone.
Blind leading blind it's been so long
Oh Home dear home It's been so cold
Where weary Pilgrims yearn Hades door
The Master, slaves, the welcome will unfold
Our time's been long, the ages spent, the centuries endured.
But it's been good, The Salt, the Water, Blood
Sustained us through our trials and toil
Filled our minds and built our Clans
Until our numbers amassed the lands
We own the Earth, the Moon, the Soil.
We've taken little. Nature's been so good
The Goddess's secrets, Rituals, potions strong
The Salt, the Water, Blood
The knowledge, Magick, Sacrifice
Lead us back where we belong.
Lord Ahriman will greet the throng
And take us to our Paradise
We've earned our rest, We've shown the world
The truth about their unjust God
They have followed, we've shown the path.
We have left the rest, they'll never learn
As deaf as stones upon the ground
They waste their lives on notions wrong
They'll never learn, Joy, secrets deep
They never could belong.
The darkest arts and powers are ours
The Salt, the Water, Blood
Their God exposed as false and weak
We've won the day and now we're home
With warmth and love we celebrate
The victory of War complete.

You almost trivialise the practice by saying it is new, not ancient...then point out that its been a part of various cultures as an ancient practice.
I think the only spell here is the one that's been cast on you in the face of a charismatic, quirky showman character whose familiarity appeals to you.

It really grates some women to know that Wicca was created by Gerald Gardener, Cecil Williamson and shock horror Aliestair Crowley.

"The Demonic Brutalism Rituality Form On Last Supper By Joseph Nicanor Galit.
How you join Wicca? Is Wicca open to black men? Does Wicca have occult and black magic element to it?
Threefold law says: what you send comes back to you
Wiccan Rede: do what you will harm none.
Most wiccans do white magick, if your looking for black magic, go to luciferianism or something.
And occultism can be used for good or bad.
@@Supernimo735 the three fold law came from a fictional book written by Gardener that was later added to a set of rules that were passed down in a family of a hereditary witch that wasn't even wiccan. It got really popular and adapted in the US when wicca was gaining popularity here.

You couldn't be more wrong.
