don't forget, they do this for hours while walking in the heat in the open streets during the festival. They walk for miles while drumming and dancing. Man, I miss Dinagyang! Kamusta dira sa inyo nga mga Ilonggo!

I used to cry when I was a kid watching these because it is JUST. SO. LOUD! Then i grew up to be a rocker and a DJ and by then I loooved standing next to the drums. The beat, the energy, and the sheer loudness of it all literally gives you palpitations, and you can't help but hoot, toot, and shout WHOOHOOOO!!! Sooo awesome!
The energy is kuh-ray-zee! And oh, yes. There are five judging areas every year, so that's how many times these performers have to do that in a day. And in between that, they walk throughout the city from one judging area to the next. and I'm not even gonna mention the stifling heat!
IM SO THRILLED EVERYTIME I WATCHED THIS!..IT'S SO SPECTACULAR HOW THESE BOYS, GIRLS (maybe at the back) PLAYED SO WELL, MEMORIZED EVERY NOTES, TONES, ETC....KUDOS TOO TO THE INSTRUCTOR, HE TAUGHT THEM SO WELL! ...THANK U FOR REACTING TO THIS VIDEO! This one is my most best musical piece i have ever heard! Kudos to the musical director! Dinagyang is the best! World class!!! No one can beat dinagyang as overall kind of festival!
Take note, its much more impressive knowing that they have to perform it 5 times. There were 5 judging areas where they have to travel and perform same production again. It's hot yet they never lose energy the whole time they were performing. You got to see it live here in Iloilo, Philippines!
Some of us plays like 6 instruments including the flute. Fyi we practice for 4-5 months just to perfect and show off our talents. Btw nice reactions bro . i love it

Sir here in the Philippines every city,and every town held our own festival every year but here in Iloilo City we celebrate Dinagyang Festival and every schools participate and compete with each other...thats what make this event so unique amongst other festival here in our country

Just wanted to share this fact, the conductor you mentioned in the video used to be my music teacher. He's real great at teaching these drummers, who are in fact students of my school. As of right now, he's still going strong on being a full time teacher and conductor for our tribe, and even managed to conduct yesterday's performance in Dinagyang Festival 2019. Really glad you appreciate the music and I'll make sure he'll get to see this.

I was there. In the Grand stand. Dinagyang is incredible. So much goes into making these performances world class. It's very competitive and each performance is just unreal.

Usually there are 5 judging areas in dinagyang festival so they have to repeat the performance 5 times also. All the participants are highschool students from different schools in Iloilo. You should come and visit Iloilo and experience dinagyang festival. Super fun! Proud Ilongga here 💋

5? oh my God. well, for some, they're gonna do it only this year so i guess it's worth it.
5 judging areas. After they perform to judging area number 1 they do street dance going to judging area number 3 so on and so fort until to the last judging area number 5. Almost 1 and half of nonstop dancing.
Yes almost 5 different judging areas they can play it loud and perfectly. They are not professional musicians but they have skills and also reading drum notes.and synchronize perfectly
For me, by drum beats and tempos, and dancing aspects and choreograph on performances, these should be the best festival in the Phils..

THIS OCCURS FRIDAYS- "DRUM, BUGLE AND MARCHING BANDS FROM DIFFERENT SCHOOLS - BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE. practice starts months before jan- after classes ... so, stamina is important! DO COME AND ENJOY, PILIPINO IS ACCEPTED BUT ILOILO SPEAKS ILONGGO OR ENGLISH... LOL. MAIN EVENT: SATURDAYS FOR MARDI GRAS - LIKE FESTIVITIES AND SUNDAYS- HIGHLIGHT OR THE OPEN TRIBE COMPETITION OR THE ATI-ATI CONTEST... THENTHERE'S FOOD FEST AND STREET DANCING AFTER THE PERFORMANCES
When you know 90% of them are highschool students in addition they're all well trained

It is super Loud that ur heart and ear almost explode.. lols. I am one of the Drummers also in one of the towns in Iloilo, we had 88 drummers that time and it was insanely super loud, how much more this in the City where they have 100plus drummers and the base drums are super huge..

It's just a week difference from Dinagyang. Went there last week and everyone was dancing on the street. Dibagyang is more on performing while Ati-atihan is just a pure street dancing where anyone can join and dance. Free drinks for everyone too. Festival in the Philippines are just super nice. I hope you can visit and experience it yourself next time.

They're all high school students in ILOILO, they're not professional drummers. You've got to witness firsthand the yearly ILOILO DINAGYANG FESTIVAL in order to experience the amazing extraordinary sights, sounds, speed, colors, choreography, and amazing energy!
They are just simple/literal high school students who joined ,others were innocent how to play but they have practiced it so hard with proper descipline, they made it. In passi town we have Pintados Festival and I have observed that.

I have been one of the drummers before in one of towns in Iloilo and we are all 80-100 drummers,I tell u it is like a Thunderous clap pouncing ur chest while playing the drums.. I only play Snares and Tamtams that time..

The festival is happening every 3rd week of January in Iloilo Philippines (for three days) and these kids are practicing 6 months before the competetion. I was living nearby one of the tribus practicing area and I cannot forget that my feet were following the beat till I fell asleep. Miss it 😉

Believe me. after the insane adrenaline of the Dinagyang both drummer and dancer will sleep it off the entire day next day.
Have you seen what kind of drums they are using? On the opening salvo of dinagyang 2020 you can see that it's all improvize drums, they are literally drums, now that's pure talent making do with whatever they got in hand 👏👏👏
This is the best part of Dinagyang Festival. You might break your eardrums, if you are near them. But this attracts me more.
