I will admit that the snow did look beautiful but I think I would have had to take a Xanax before being a passenger on that drive. As a life long Michigander you would think I'd be used to it.😁
Looks like a nice trip. Warning: For those with diesel trucks. DO NOT use tow-haul mode and DO NOT engage your diesel exhaust brake when you are on ice and slippery snow. The momentum of your rig can cause a jacknife event under exhaust brake conditions because the trailer brakes are not engaging. Drive extra slow and be soft on the brakes. Your truck manual likely has this warning written in it.
Have you ever looked into a product called "FrostGuard'? It covers the windshield and mirrors so that you don't have to scrape the windshield when it snows or freezes up. I have one and love it.
Thanks for sharing this story, truly beautiful. I agree regarding the cold, if you dress in layers and hike you stay very warm and comfortable. For your hands, the small hot packs on your palms do a great job. Love seeing Beau in his natural environment, you can see how much he loves playing in the snow and trees.
Love this! You make such great videos. I think the best. You have a wonderful combination of talk and music with all your video. I also have a heated vest. The vest is amazing. Enjoyed watching BO in the snow. I was born in Grand Rapids and moved at 16 (dad got a job in oregon). Also lived in Saginaw. Family in south haven. Thanks for your videos.
I'm curious. I know about winterizing an RV for storage, but if you are using one, whether traveling or parking overnight while you stay in a hotel/motel, what do you do about the water in the rig when there is no electric hookup?
Mike and Jen loved your video on Winner camping went to the falls as a child in 1973 Lived in Michigan as a young boy until 1986. Move to South Carolina and have recently retired from a rural electric company and hope to spend next winner at the falls after 50 years!!!! Thank you for helping me dream again love you guys
Thank you for the uplifting video. Beautiful. We had hoped to join you this year but other travels got in the way. We winter camped last night at a Loves truck stop in central Kentucky, with morning temperatures at 26 degrees and snow covering. Wish we were on the UP with you. Mike and Marcia
This video was like a good meditation, a beautiful, peaceful way to wake up this morning in my own winter wonderland! Love how much time you spend out in nature and also with other people. Also appreciate seeing other older folks who are still very active. I tend to stay away from lifestyles (like rv's) that are dangerous or unsustainable if complicated systems fail, but you both are clearly prepared in your big parkas and wool sweaters. Thank you!!
You might do well to get warmer, lined boots. Some kind of Sorrel pacs or similar, ie like boots big enough to fit with 2 pairs of wool socks. You'd be surprised how much that warmth that adds to your body. Course when you drive you'll need to take them off! :)
I just wanted to say I enjoy your video's and all the information you two provide us , I grew up in the Burton , Mi area and hope to purchase a RV soon and hit the road . Thanks again : )
Adorable couple and sweet dog. I enjoyed watching your video for the first time and feel like I know your both 😂. Be safe in your travels!! I will follow.
What an inspiration! This was a really good video! I like how you showed there are many others who also like to winter camp. Love your walks and all the scenery! Very well done!
We love the Omni heat line, I have gloves, boots, jacket, vest, pants, hat and more. We got them for Alaska but I also wear them on the motorcycle. Nothing better to keep me warm.
We live in mountain snow country. This was a poor choice in driving conditions../often the reason for accidents...and low hanging branches...glad you are ok...
Wow that was so scary driving that 5th wheel across the bridge with snow and wind! I'm glad you made it there safely and had a great time. Looks beautiful!
I do miss the snow but never have camped in it. I think the icy roads which I’m not very experienced with might be a hindrance as well as the fact my husband never wants to be near snow. It’s so beautiful. I enjoyed being there in my imagination with you guys! 💕
Snow is so pretty….I’ve hiked trails at the Delaware Water Gap in 16 degrees and was actually hot once I got movin! Our water in the NJ pine barrens has the same tannins - forms lots of pretty bogs. I will be sort of near the UP in May at a birding festival in Magee Marsh, Ohio, but don’t have an RV. Yet.
Mike and Jen hats off to u both. Your braver than me. Not familiar with the driving habits of the Northern Michiganers or how congested the roads. I would never drive a fifth wheel or a TT in snow conditions in the Mid Atlantic region where we live. Drivers are inconsiderate and drive bad enough in dry weather. Snow brings out the worst habits. Enjoy
You reminded me of why I left Holland MI a long time ago to get out of that white stuff. If I feel a need to reminisce about the cold winters I just look at a calendar 😁
we are NOT fully seasoned RVers yet, but have made some trips. We currently reside in CO and plan to begin to do much more traveling this year. Husband is concerned about towing our travel trailer over mountain passes in icy and snowy conditions. This trip looked do-able and the advise about going slowly if the road becomes more icy is good and what we plan to do. BUT, I'm wondering if you have thoughts about high mountain passes as we travel. We'll be going over Monument Pass and Raton Pass on I-25 this week and Husband is thinking of cancelling the trip due to the upcoming snow. I want to go but I'm not the driver (with good reason) Please let us know your thoughts. If any of the video viewers see this I'd appreciate the helpful advise. Thank you!
great video. I see others have asked and I am curious too. How do you handle your water and sewage situation? We do have "heat pads on our tanks" and an enclosed underbelly, but does that really cut it? Heating would be no issue when parked, especially if you are in a site with electric, but .... any updates you have on this subject would be greatly appreciated... As always, safe travels......
Thank you for sharing this adventure to the UP. We love love Michigan and enjoyed this episode very much. Seeing what it’s like in the winter and the water falls were just beautiful. How do we get information about your meet ups??
Enjoyed the scenery. Was hoping for how you deal with toilet, and quick shower etc when winter camping. I’ve searched and seen all kinds of crazy things. I trust your input more. Can you point to tips?
So how do you handle you water needs? I would think your pipes would freeze? Or do you just carry water and flush with antifreeze and then use a shower facility?
Hats off to you for towing in winter. We are in northern Minnesota and wouldn’t dream of taking our 5th wheel out. What are you running for tires on your truck? Have fun!😊
You two rock! We live in the Midwest and are taking our trailer across country in early November. We don't want to stay months on end but we are concerned about returning when there is ice and snow. . I don't think it's impossible to travel with a trailer in the winter, but we have never done it before, even though we are seasoned RV people (just not in the winter). Is it uncommon for people with travel trailers or 5th wheels to travel in winter like this? Obviously, its not impossible. Your thoughts?
Does look beautiful - I lived in Engadine for 10 years, but down live in lower Michigan. Was wondering - how do your slides work in cold snowing camping? We would hate to get caught in the UP and our slides fail 🤷🏼♀️
They crossed the Mackinac bridge to enter the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. That peninsula is east of Wisconsin. From that, perhaps you can get more tips from the video for detail if you want.
You really should consider a warmer climate during the winter months. Your views of traveling on snowy and icey interstates is very sketchy for elderly and retired folks----it is just plain dangerous!!! I am elderly, and certiainly wouldn't put myself in that situation, and believe me I am very familiar with it----lived in the northeast for over 65 years. Please take care and consider the alternatives!!
I will admit that the snow did look beautiful but I think I would have had to take a Xanax before being a passenger on that drive. As a life long Michigander you would think I'd be used to it.😁
I loved the video all I can add is an honest heartfelt thank you. May Peace Health and Happiness follow you and yours
Your cautions are appropriate. Brings genuineness to your video. Thanks.
Looks like a nice trip.

We always pull over asap when people are behind us and it's safe. Makes for good relations and a lot less concern. Nice photography though
The upper peninsula is beautiful! Glad you've enjoyed it too!
Bo ! Loves Michigan snow ❄️ 😍 I do too but we haven't had much in lower Michigan ,Grand Haven, this was a great video! ❤️ thank you ! GOD BLESS ❤️
I would never take a chance driving like that with my wife. We play it safe.

We also use a hanging heat lamp that we attach to the picnic table
with a short bird feeder post & clamp (for deck rails)

We had two ARVs with us this year, Mike! We're on the way to Tamp nw. 42 degrees south f Atlanta. Still cool!

Agree it looks beautiful visited upper Michigan n have family living in Pickford. But have to say you are a brave man to drive in that weather.
Thank you Jen and Mike, Great video! We have traveled to the UP and it is beautiful in the summer. Winter is even better!
Buy a windshield with mirror covers
We did for our Interstate and it's
great. We have them for all our cars too.
Adorable couple and sweet dog. I enjoyed watching your video for the first time and feel like I know your both 😂. Be safe in your travels!! I will follow.
Winter weather like at the 6:00 minute mark, i always pull my wiper blades off the glass windshield. It protects them and the wiper motor.
Great video! You perfectly captured the beauty of the UP. Thank you!

WOW. Thanks for the i formation on the dirty looking water. Enjoy.❤
Well, you did enjoy!!! I'm late.😂😂
Perfect weather for Bo. It has been so warm this winter in Michigan, my elkies are shedding again.
So glad we found your channel. We're from Florida and are always chasing the cold. Looking into those heated vest. Amazing. Thanks for the tips.
Happy Bo in the snow!
We live in mountain snow country. This was a poor choice in driving conditions../often the reason for accidents...and low hanging branches...glad you are ok...
Do you have pay for your campsite. Are the bathrooms open? Do you ca ahead to have your site plowed out?

Looks like you had an amazing time
Beautiful
i asked my husband if he wanted to go winter camping? He said, "might as well, we've done everything else!" my sone and family have camped there.
thank you for the video!
Great video. Thanks

I enjoyed your viedo on winter camping 🏕
I'm amazed that Bo's feet don't get cold!
You reminded me of why I left Holland MI a long time ago to get out of that white stuff. If I feel a need to reminisce about the cold winters I just look at a calendar 😁
Beautiful scenery and it was not even cold from here in California.....LOL

As I sit watching this episode I have on a tshirt that I picked up there in June.
I don’t like to cross that bridge in the best conditions. I don’t think I would have done it. Safe travels.
You guys are awesome
This was fascinating! Not for me but beautiful and informative. I may need to check out one of those vests.

Question: Do these campgrounds provide electricity, or are you boondocking. I just figured that solar panels are useless in those snowy conditions.
I live in Colorado, so I know what snow driving is. I would not tow in that kind of weather. It's just not worth the risk.
I dont know how you can drive across our mighty Mac with the Rv ? Yes it would be a white knuckle drive for me !
Thank you for sharing this adventure to the UP. We love love Michigan and enjoyed this episode very much. Seeing what it’s like in the winter and the water falls were just beautiful. How do we get information about your meet ups??
If you are on their email list you'll get info on them - also if you are in their membership space (on Facebook OR here on RUclips) you'll hear first.

Good to see someone can get use out of an V in the winter , mine is a 3 season so it will not be joining them
Our cat is 20 lb he's not overweight but he has more fur for winter time
Hats off to you for towing in winter. We are in northern Minnesota and wouldn’t dream of taking our 5th wheel out. What are you running for tires on your truck? Have fun!😊
Question: Do you store the RV in a warm spot between winter camping trips? Or do you winterize it after a winter camping trip?
Just wondering if you change to winter tires for your trailer. If yes where do you get them? Thanks.
