90% of our entire population live with 100 kilometres from the US border, myself, I grew up in Toronto. We all grew up watching American TV stations, listening to American radio, so we're all very familiar with not just your anthem, but your culture, your society, and politics....you name it, we know it. CNN did a poll in Atlanta to see the average Americans knowledge of US history, and Canadian as well....they came to Toronto and asked the exact same questions, and the results? 90% of the Americans knew nothing about us, and sadly, 70% didn't know anything bout their own countries history and current affairs.....but the Canadians? 80% of us knew every question asked about the US, and 95% knew our own history. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be insulting, but come on guys...we're your #1 trading partner (for now, until that moron rips NAFTA apart, and destroys your country, how is cutting the thousands of jobs that rely on Canadian imports making America great again?), we share the longest border on earth, almost half of your celebrities are from Canada....how can you know so little about us? I have dozens of close friends and family in the States, and according to them, they're simply not taught a thing in school about us, and their media speaks only of their local city or state, very seldom do they speak about their own country. Where as we, in school, are taught about not just America, but the entire world. By grade 5, we had to know every single province in Canada, and every state in the USA, AND, we had to know all the capitals of each country, state and province. We also had to know every countries name and capital city. We were exposed to world history, but particularly, US history, because it's important for us to know about our neighbours and biggest trading partner. It's a shame Americans don't have the same desire to learn about us.
I THINK YOU NEED TO READ UP ON THAT NAFTA DEAL, IT WAS BAD ALL THE WAY AROUND AND WAS DONE IN SECRET MUCH LIKE THE TPP WAS BEING DONE AND THAT THING WAS A DISASTER....SO LEARN ABOUT NAFTA THEN TALK ABOUT HOW BAD IT WAS FOR ALL PARTY MEMEBERS. *SHAKES HEAD*
I hate to say this but most Americans don't even know the capital of Canada. The quiz show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has a Teen Week, featuring some of the smartest kids in America. One contestant was a 17 yo who was headed off to Yale for college. Yale is often neck in nect with Harvard as the best university in the US. The third question, which is still considered easy, was about the capital of Canada. All theh questions are mulitple choice. He had no idea what the answer was so he called up his mom to help. She didn't know either, so they just randomly picked one the four answers and got it wrong.
I believe it surprises the world that we Canadians know more about their countries more than our own. Ever child grade 3 or 4 start learning this in elementary. From the west coast to the east coast we are one of the kindest and polite countries. When our neighbours south of us needed our help we gave it. Proud to be lending our voices.🇨🇦
to all of the hockey fans in Canada I thank you. I wish for you to know that I and my brother big hockey fans can and do sing all of your song also out of respect for you your flag and your great country. god bless
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Sad. So sad we like in a society so free we have to regress and restrict. Soon "command" will need to be changed to "recommend" due to "command" being to forceful. People need to realize the slippery slope they are going down. You may find yourself loosing grip and falling.
"Slippery Slope" arguments are logical fallacies. If you don't like the change, say so. Don't pretend that it somehow represents the first step in the end of civilization.
Alex my young friend you are very wrong and as you mature you will see the error in your thinking. Change is inevitable. We all know that and we all accept it. Forcing change when it is not needed due to illogical ideologies is where the "slippery slope" starts to rear its ugly head and you will end up looking at yourself thinking "What have we done". You are too young to realize it now but you will. Or at least I hope you are able to get to the point where you will... Otherwise you will never be a very happy individual. Take care and enjoy your evening.
Too young, am I? While it's kind of you to say so, your assumption about my age is nearly as bad as your assumption about a small change in the anthem heralding some great moral decline. I am old and grey and have forgotten more about logical argument and historical development than you appear to know.
Oh Canada Our home & native land True patriot love By all thy sons command With glowing hearts We see thee rise The true north strong & free Oh Canada We stand on guard for thee O Canada We stand on guard for thee
The president could really screw up badly which could never compare to Obama or Hillary because they have already taken the grand prize . But He is not going to screw up the rest of the public is on guard with the actions of the Demarcates acting like babies. Its comparable to a day care center. But one thing is for sure what goes around comes around and you demarcates will surely get you're just rewards in one is elected again. Catherine tt .Our anthem hell most don't even knows its words and to dam lazy to learn it . That will be their down fall not mine or anyone else's. But this could be the same for any country as far as this goes .

TJ Devereaux, well said. Agree 100%.
Hells Fury hear, hear, well said.
Absolutely. The level of ignorance about Canada by the average American is mind-boggling.
Well done. Canada. Showing great respect and regard for others. Great role models.
Proud Canadian right here
The Americans are our brothers. We will always be there to love and support ❤️🇨🇦🇺🇸
When you see stuff like this it makes you Proud to be a Canadian and a Leaf Fan!
I'm Canadian and a dually and I know the American national anthem by heart. It's just a natural thing for us to step in when needed.
Thank you Canadians! Much Love!
I'm learning O Canada so if I visit there someday, I can sing it.
to all of the hockey fans in Canada I thank you. I wish for you to know that I and my brother big hockey fans can and do sing all of your song also out of respect for you your flag and your great country. god bless
Thank you, Tim 🙂
Canadians will do ANYTHING to prevent having their hockey delayed!
lol
O Canada! I love it. Our best friends to the North!
I'm proud to be Canadian, show respect for our American neighbors!
It's such a beautiful anthem, what a moment. Wish I was there 🇨🇦
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
"...all thy sons command." Not any more. It's now, "in all of us command". (And about time too.)
Damn. I’m proud of my country
Well done Canada!
I live about 10miles from Canada...
I love my neighbors !!
As always. we rock ....
I Love my Brothers & SIsters in Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless Us All !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Canada is Classy!

gmctech As an American I can say we love you Canadians. Even if we get wound up over hockey.
gmctech We love you right back, Canada!!
We love you too Canada
Oh Canada
Our home & native land
True patriot love
By all thy sons command
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise
The true north strong & free
Oh Canada
We stand on guard for thee
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
The president could really screw up badly which could never compare to Obama or Hillary because they have already taken the grand prize . But He is not going to screw up the rest of the public is on guard with the actions of the Demarcates acting like babies. Its comparable to a day care center. But one thing is for sure what goes around comes around and you demarcates will surely get you're just rewards in one is elected again. Catherine tt .Our anthem hell most don't even knows its words and to dam lazy to learn it . That will be their down fall not mine or anyone else's. But this could be the same for any country as far as this goes .
we love you canada, best allies we could ask for 🇺🇸🇨🇦
We love you guys too!!
Ça c'est certain. Nous pouvons nous estimer chanceux d'être deux voisins. Très chanceux ! Merci à notre créateur.
I'm Canadian, America and Canada will always be there for eachother :) We are the best freinds in the world :)
What isn't being shown here. This is what it sounds like when the speakers cut out. We were singing it before that happened. We didn't finish anything. Like every game here of every sport, Star spangled Banner is sung proudly, we love our neighbours. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
We have so many cross border relationships. All my sons have dual citizenship and my eldest served in the US army for 12 yrs and is a combat veteran. My youngest served in the US Navy. We ( Canadians and Americans) are more than friends and neighbors. We're family. We love you America.
